MY favorite choice, however, is Brian DePalma's "The Fury". Oh, yeah! "The Fury"! That John Cassavettes guy, he blows up! He blows up real good! I like the part where Amy Irving is like, "Oh, I'm gonna make you blow up! Gonna make you blow up!" And John's hands are shaking, his veins are sticking out of his neck and his heart is palplatating and then HE BLOWS UP! He blows up REAL GOOD!
For those that don't know in this era there was a show called the "The farm report " that aired in Western Canada in the early morning that was just like the beginning of this parody. Makes it that much funnier.
So may the good lord take a liking to ya and blow you up real soon!
No offense, Texasmade ~~~but you have to have a lot of references in order to be able to *get* this humor. Actually "know" the directors and films they are talking about, etc.... they were comic geniuses.
I've never understood why, over the last thirty years, Joe Flaherty didn't have more of a career. He was SOOO good, my favorite cast member after Rick Moranis, or perhaps John Candy.
@bartonim Big Jim and Billy Sol could have had Lola Heatherton on as a guest when they did Farm Film Celebrity Blow Up, and let her blow up real good.
I'm a teacher and I sometimes purposely talk or read with a thick southern accent. Then I ask the kids, "Am I any more/less intelligent that I was before?" I think they get the point.
I don't think southern accent sounds any more stupid than that dumb nasal midwestern accent I heard living in IL.
There's different southern accents; the new orleans accent isn't southern sounding at all-besides, what should we do? Talk in that stupid L.A. valley -girl accent you hear all over TV?
@lewigr I hope they tell you: " Yes, you sound unintelligble, take the cowshit out of your mouth so we can understand you. Check a dictionary to see how the words are supposed to be pronounced. The point of communication is to build understanding and when you talk like a yokel we shut you out, moron." Did any of them say that to you?
Still funny! Sad that what was once satire is an acceptable way of ignorant life now. This stuff is truly real for Larry the Cable Guy and his mainstream America followers. They won't even get it.
Yeah, "Larry the Cable Guy" is actually from Nebraska. And, his early standup work was HORRIBLE. Then, he decided to act like a perfect Southern stereotype...and now, he's almost everywhere.
Pretty sad, most of his fans don't get that he is really making fun of them.
@LaDracul Has anyone in the theater ever answered you with "He blowed up REAL good!"? I had that happen once when I said that in some lame action movie.
is it possible to get the clip where they blew up the village people, randy newman, and helen reedy in succession. send me the link if you know where it is.
Hey everyone! Independent film makers Zack Zortman and Steve Kane here. Check out our newly released comedy, Colonial Commandments. Its the story of a psycho wannabe Revolutionary War colonel who terrorizes a college student. Simply type Colonial Commandments in on your Youtube searchbar and hit enter. The film is broken into 5 parts so be sure to watch them all! We appreciate everyones support and please let us know what you think! Were simply trying to advertise here. No harm.
Anybody know where I could find that one episode that was nothing but a voice-over of a Cisco Kid episode? I haven't seen that anywhere since it was first on the air.
I treasured this show when it was first on TV. I knew, even then, that something like this doesn't come along very often (that turned out to be truer than I thought). I'm SO glad these are mostly out on DVD now.
There must be something really wrong with my TV set because I can't get wonderful really funny stuff like this anymore. God, what happened, have we really forgotten how to laugh at really funny things.
The name of the Candy character Billy Sol Hurok was based on two men famous in the 1950s. Sol Hurok was an impressario who brought many foreign acts to the country, especially Russian acts he booked for the Ed Sullivan show. My favourite blown up guest? Brooke Shields.

Larry the Cable Guy is a character done by the performer, like The Diceman is for Andrew Clay Silverstein...its for the purpose of comedy/humour.
However, too many people take it seriously and buy into what is being said in jest.
