  • Simply beautiful. Jobim would have cried to listen to this duet.

  • Absolutely fantastic job performing this classic song...very soulful and with great emotion!

  • me encanta esta versión!

  • that's it...

no need to add anything else...

  • Amoooooooo !

  • You know, something in her voice that made me immediately fall in love with. I listened to her rendition of Qiuen Sera, Besame Mucho, Yesterday, and now Insensatez today. Her sultry, mellow voice just melted my heart away. I knew someone has made me feel this way before, and all evening long I tried to recall. I just got it; it's Sade - Smooth Operator more than 20 years ago. I love them both! Thanks much for sharing!

  • Lisa Ono rules.

  • Lindíssimo vídeo. Bela música. Abraços!

  • This is a classic Bossa Nova piece sung by one of the best. One thing I love here the most is how the sax works in with this piece supporting it and then stepping out to shine in its turn. I imagine that for a powerful instrument like a saxophone to harmonize with a soft voice and subtle guitar chordings is very hard to achieve. This guy is a true master.

  • @RKVee I think the saxophonist is Sadao Watanabe. One of Japan's top masters for the sax.

  • A cantora é maravilhosa e os músicos também são excelentes !

  • What a melody, what a singer, what an atmosphere.... Luv this song....

  • This makes me really proud of being brazilian :-) When I hear it, I almost fly, it's a surreal dream in musical form!

  • This is the only music that I can listen over and over. Im so happy I discovered bossa nova. Thanks brazil for bringing to the world beautiful music!

  • Fantastic voice!!!

  • Perfeito!

  • Lisa let my tears to wash your delicate soul ...

  • MrRussBear this song was inspired from Chopin's Prelude in E-Minor (Op.28 No.4) Ther

  • @MyTyr1one

Yes, I know it now. One my friend said once: All the good music has been written and paid already :-)

  • So nice to hear Lisa Ono & Sadao Watanabe do this Jobim classic song!

  • Si jolie chanson, triste aussi...le reflet de mon état d'âme du moment car je t'aime mais tu ne sais pas le comprendre !!!

  • Very nice! Also love the tone of the alto sax - flute like.

  • The late Antonio Carlos Jobim, who composed these songs, was a genius. His music put into music beautiful tropical paradise.

  • I love Brazilian Jazz... nothing to do with her being Asian.. but her voice lacks something.... dunno... listen to Rosa Passos.... and then you will see..

  • @attractivefrenchguy Rosa Passos is just more technical with her singing of this song, using more pronounced vibrato, rubato, more diminuendo, more/longer pauses, etc. All that probably translates to her version sounding more "sexy" to some. Not that Lisa's voice lacks anything, she's just not using the same style.

  • @Eeeehhhsoudesuka

Just more technical? Lisa Ono doesnt have and will never have the "aire." So your reply to me is laughable. How about Rosa Passos trying to sing traditional Japanese songs.. wonder how that would sound? Just as laughable... like a Thai girl in a Bangkok bar singing a Sammy Davis Jr song "I gotta be me" LMAO

  • @attractivefrenchguy By the comparisons you made, it just sounds like you think Lisa's accent is bad. In your first comment you said her voice lacks something. If what I described wasn't what she lacked, could you be more specific about "aire"? I like Rosa's version too, but could you be more specific? What exactly do you like about Rosa Passos' voice/singing? Her range? Her pacing? The way she accents certain notes and lets others fall? Just curious is all. What other bossa nova singers u like?

  • Magnificent!!!!!!!!!! *****

  • Muito lindo!!!

  • Great taste as usual. Good job!!!!!!

  • Awesome...could make a man weep..lyrics and expression even more profound in a second language..as for the sax!!! Off to weep...Stuart

  • muy, pero que muy, bonita. Incluso el portugues. *****

  • This is the most beautiful voice for bossa nova, well beside the obvious voices...amazing singer!

  • Jobim's music was made for artists like these! Belissimo!!

  • Isn't that wonderful Sadao Watanabe on Alto? What a great paring...... Lisa will help heal universe with this singing like this...... keep on girl, forever........

  • Ha! I just thought the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure that *is* Sadao Watanabe on sax. Great performance.

  • i love this song so much.. she gives a full of emotion on this.. =) i love it.. thanks for the upload.. =)

  • is she brazilian?

  • she was born in Brazil, but moved to Japan when she was 10

  • looks like is the other way around.... dont worry, I will google her

  • Yes.

  • Meu sonho...Voz, violão e sax!! Tudo de bom!!

  • genial performance...

Excellent video ... in my favorites ,-)

    Bravissimi *****

  • This is great!

  • Es de mis favoritas. Gracias, además ella canta hermoso, soy mexicana pero me encanta la musica brasileña.

  • there are many languages in this world, if you only know 2 (your mother tongue and english) you are just any normal being. one need not be an ignorant dickhead here, and start insulting other languages. you are only showing your incapabilities and what little things you know!!

  • Beautiful voice and lady, song and the musicians are playing great!

  • Comment removed

  • So beautiful! Such exact atmosphere of what the song is about. Lisa sings it so lightly, gently and meaningful! I enjoy!

    "A insensatez

    Que você fez

    coração mais sem cuidado...."

  • haahahahahahahahaahahaha geez I honestly can't believe someone could'nt identify Portuguêse as a language xD!!!!!!!

  • sure mate =D!!!!!!

  • Lei la adoro...rifarebbe in bossa nova pure marilyn Manson...

  • this song makes me be on deep peace... the voice of the singer is just like summer breeze

  • The best version I have heard so far. The guitar sounds so blue and warm. Is anyone able to figure it out? I know the chords (more or less) but I am not able to find these beautiful notes.

  • ha ha ha. It's Portuguese. The original version is in Portuguese, not scatting he he he

  • J K! it would be funny if someone really thought it was scatting.... Portuguese is a beautiful language!!

  • It's called Portuguese.

  • it's portuguese dickhead

  • There are many Jobim songbooks floating around..... this isn't very difficult to play.

  • might be a stupid question, but I've been youtubing bossa nova lately and I find that a lot of Asians interpret the songs. What's the relation?

Thanks for uploading this, just lovely.

  • There is a lot of asian imigrants that live in Brazil, espacily in the 1940's many

Japanese came to Brazil and started tea plantions

  • Sao Paulo has the largest community of Japanese descendents outside Japan. Many people from there are Japanese-Brazilians.

  • Those Asians you see are Brazilians. Brazil has the largest Japanese diaspora in the world. There are circa 1.8 million Brazilians of Japanese stock, making them a pretty ample minority in Brazil. The Japanese began migrating to Brazil in 1908, so many of their descendants today are fourth and generation Japanese Brazilians.

Lisa Ono is a Brazilian of Japanese extraction.

  • @Marllon: But Sadao Watanabe is not, is he?

  • No, Sadao Watanabe is Japanese.

  • aaaahhhhh che anime superiori! great souls!

  • Splendido!!!

  • The sax solo is SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • yeah, sounds really good. great performer.

  • srry if my question sounds incompetent,but... What style/category is this kind of music ?

  • MPB.

  • Bossa-nova.

  • Sorry: Bossa Nova. It's Brazilian. This wonderful movement in music and poetry was born in 1950's. It evolved in Brazil into MPB, or musica popular brasileira. Bo9ssa Nova is more famous abroad,

  • Good question.

  • This is Bossa Nova, a brazilian style of saying words of love, a new style that appeared in the early 60's. Some said it was founded by António Carlos Jobim, Carlos Lyra, João Gilberto and so many others. It's beautiful!

  • splendida!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh()

  • この曲いちばん好き。

    天国みたいにふあふあ。

  • Which album is this from?

  • Love Lisa Ono!

  • huy que tema tan esquisito, digno representante de la cultuta brasileta.

  • Exquisite sound and feel. This is one if the best versions I've ever heard. Sadao has always had a haunting tone. I dig this.

  • i totally agree with you.

  • Este es mi bossa preferido...

    me encanta tbn esa interpretacion....

  • This is an absolutely amazing performance by both musicians. I think that is indeed Sadao Watanabe.

  • hermosa...

  • Was that Mr. Sadao Watanabe on the sax?

  • That's what I thought too, he certainly looks a lot like him!

    Beautiful tune,smooth sound...

  • Great singing. The sax did zilch for the song. Yeah I know, he's a major talent in Japan but the tone and overuse of vibrato was awful on this number.

  • absolute bossa

  • Lovely!

  • Chopin would have smiled knowing that this beautiful song was inspired in one of his nocturnes. Lisa´s voice is silky smooth and blends nicely with the sax. Truly an exceptional interpretation....Thanks for posting!

  • I agree with you daqono, this is a great interpretation however this is not inspirated in a Chopin's nocturne but in a prelude.

  • Yes PtitGarsdu38, you are right , my mistake. This piece is based in Prelude op.28 number 4 in E minor, by Chopin of course.

  • @daqono Hey, daqono, do you really know that Chopin's nocturne which sounds like this song?! I'm begging you to write me how it's called! I'm crazy about this Jobim's song and it would be interesting to listen to prototype.

  • Comment removed

  • @daqono I think it was the prelude in e-minor. When I heard this song for the first time, I directly had to think of "How insensitive" :D

  • This is honestly the best version of this song I have heard. I have been a bossa nova fan since college, I am 28 now and have never heard something so sweet, pure, melancholy, and beautiful at the same time. If anyone here knows a good way to get introduced to playing bossa nova on acoustic guitar reply to me. This is absolutely beautiful.

  • sensational, perfect 20,...

  • high classed voice! smooth as silk.

  • takes my breath away.. beautiful!

  • Wonderfuly done. An absolute 10+. Many people play for years and never even get close to this level of performing.

  • this is so above and beyond beautiful

  • Gran timbre para la bossa!! Muy bueno

  • Sensacional!

    Terrific!

  • wow. this is beautiful. first one to even hold a candle to astrud in a long time i'd say.

  • Very nice I have a similar feeling for bossa nova

  • beautiful, obrigada

  • Vou te contar ...os olhos já nao podem ver!!!!!! Eres uma grande estrela LISA ONO!!!!!!!!

  • Can't believe it!!! Lisa Ono and Sadao Watanabe, two great Jap Musicians .. people did not notice Sadao .. but i know him when saw this from the first time.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful tune and great MTV - Bravooooo!!!

  • I'm very glad you like it.

  • She's actually Brazilian, although living in Tokio for many years.

For the ones that didn't have a clue about this, maybe you'd be surprised to learn that Brazil has millions of Japanese descendents amongst its inhabitants.

During 2008 we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first immigrants from Japan.

That's why Lisa has that rithm within her (and no accent on her beautiful portuguese singing).

    Really BRAVO!!

  • Agree, so many Japanese in Brazil esp. in Sao Paolo.

If you close your eyes, you wouldn't believe it's an Asian singing

  • Amazing!! Second to Astrud Gilberto!

  • sorry, tere716 was mbl319's comment...again, my personal hurrah to lisa...keep singing!!!

  • amazing voice!!! you caught my attention i can't get enough of you..i'm a bossa singer too and i really love your versions!

  • ... adoro, muito bom ...

  • Is she a brazilian ? her portuguese is way to good.

  • She was bron in Sao Paulo in 1962

  • Nice. I could smell some paulista accent.

  • lovely version

  • SUBLIME!...

  • great!! amazing, quite as good as the original...that is to say, a great challenge bet over! congratulations!

  • Cool stuff!!

  • I noticed I like her version best of this and another standard, Garota de Ipanema -her duo version with Joao Donato is just as sweet as this. Eliane does it for me with Fotografia and Vivo Sonhando. So much more, Thanksgiving...
