  • What about kitten mittens?

  • i dont think you understood the joke, sunny might be over your head

  • LMAO i didnt even notice the product placement.

  • So basically, tv shows get made with money. They get that money from advertisers.

If you are all going to download your tv shows from torrent sites you should expect to see more product placement in the shows you love.

Or you can watch it fade away because no one is watching it on TV, like what is happening to Community.

  • all of this sponsorship really makes me thirsty for a Wolf Cola, mmmmmmmmmm thats good.

  • @pagoogly Its the right cola.....for closure

  • I thought they were mocking D&B's and showing how white trash it was. I didn't even think D&B's was a real place.

  • your an idiot and don't understand humor

  • Who cares if the have product placement, you trying turning down a ton of money...and it fit in with the plot so perfectly that it didn't feel like they snuck it in, they were so upfront about it that it was funny

  • i think that guyswho loves the "liberty" that the capitalism gives you must love that!

  • I didn't even notice until you highlighted them. Still don't care, this show is great.

  • I didn't know the arcade was even real, and I just thought they used a real beer for convenience. I didn't think it was a sell out move at all.

  • And the Irony of the Irony is that they really got paid for all that advert.....

  • F**king idiots. This episode was genius regardless of the ad placement. I've seen this episode countless times, and I'm the biggest cynic out there...at no point did I think they sold out. Both ad placements fit in with the plot perfectly.

Nothing annoys me more than when stupid people don't get intelligent jokes.

  • If you go back to season 1 you'll see they used budlight in their scenes. So why start crying now!?! I think they have the most unique and BRILLIANT show. Stop worrying about petty crap and enjoy the show.

  • I see nothing wrong with letting these people make money off sponsors after working so hard on this awesome show. I barely even noticed the product placement anyway, because they're sort of joking on it all anyway. You took it out of context, so you can't see it.

  • Good job not getting the joke, jack-knob

  • that shit is ice cold and delicious bitches!

  • I bet most of you guys probably download these episodes off the internet for free, and don't watch it on television, so now these guys try to actually make some money off there show, and now you guys want to complain?

  • @Epimpin101 that's pretty much exactly what I was about to say

  • @Epimpin101 Can I thumbs this up a million times? Because if I could I would. These clueless morons will download the the stuff for free, which generates zero revenue for the network, and then b*tch when the show "sells out" (even though it didn't ).

The best part about this is that this episode is mocking the same people that think they "sold out." Seriously - you should be required to a get a f**king clue before you are allowed to speak..

  • This doesn't look like The Gang Sells Out to me.

  • Well they kind of talked shit about D&B too, Frank: "This tastes like shit."; Dennis:"if you think you are going to get a better steak in arcade setting, then you shit out of luck." Lol. Funny shit. It was all a joke. The did the same thing in Waynes World remember? Stop being so uptight bitches.

  • this episode was definatly lame in plugging those companies but theyve been promoting coors since season 2 or 3. in the episode where mac and dennis are staking out cricket in a cardboard box they are drinking a case of ice cold frost brewed coors light

  • i don't see any reason to complain about it. tv conversation is much more realistic if it's about a brand being talked about. It absolutly kills any meaning when conversation sounds generic.

  • and scrubs is completely, COMPLETELY infested with Budweiser

  • I don't care if they market coors and shit. Those jokes we're awesome. If it was shitty jokes ALONG with blatant advertising, then I'd be pissed.

  • oh,shit!! i just notice thiz... and watch every episode 3 times b4 i go 2 the next episode b/c of tha funniest XD

  • Id rather them have coors light signs instead of signs that say "BEER". Most of these things i didnt even notice thats how much it effects this show.

  • Anyone who complains about stuff like this is a fucking idiot who doesn't understand the need for marketing and sponshorship

  • Allow me to recap this video for you:

Wahhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm a big baby

  • It's called being succesful you dumb motherfuckers... Did anyone think Seinfeld "sold out"? when there was a product plug in practically every episode?

If It's always sunny didn't have some sponsorships there might not be a show because no one would be making money and I'm sure that Glen, Charlie, Rob etc are in this for a reason.

The more I think about it the more it seems the phrase "Selling Out" is something people who are jealous use to hate on peoples success.

  • @Basketball80 Seinfeld didn't do product placement, they just wrote in products that would be realistic and they thought sounded funny (like the Junior Mint).

  • omg who fucking cares get a life loser

  • dude its a fucking joke man its Always Sunny in Phliadelphia would never seel out

  • The whole "they were just making a joke about product plugs" argument would hold up just fine if they hadn't cashed a big ol' check for doing this. This is what happens when people Tivo all their shows and skip commercials: the advertisers have to shove them into the actual show.

  • i wanna go to dave and busters now

  • I love the part of the episode that seemed to make fun of Keynesian economics.

  • Meh who cares, the episode was funny and enjoyable lol. Even if people "sell out", the world runs on money what can ya do

  • As long as the adverts are clever (they are) I don't care.

Most people won't even notice because we don't pay attention to advertising in the first place...

  • at the very end chariles reaction to the d&b snub is pure gold

  • I'm pretty sure the whole selling out thing is just a joke

  • @poqhokie

yeah i don't think people understood that it was supposed to be an obvious sell out joke

  • who gives a fuck its blatant advertising big deal if they said were not doing any more episodes unless gm sells an extre 30000 cars this week id buy a fukin new car thats how good this show is. it also kinda reminds me of waynes world when they do their sell out scene.awsome we will not bow to any sponsers

  • this was clearly a joke. are you serious?

  • D&B is god

  • could not disagree more. I think its awesome that they are so transparent with their selling out. the extra money helps to fund the show, so eat it SiF... perhaps and dave and busters with a Coors light.

  • i have the beer shits.

  • i played that finger game in the shot behind frank!!! its realy fun

  • for a second there i thought they were reallying whoring out there show for dave and busters, i can breath a sigh of relief thanks for posting that twitter post

  • Glenn Howerton's (Dennis) Twitter:

11:05 AM Oct 8th : Just got back from vacay. Lotta love n quite a bit of hate on last week's recession ep. Sounds like 50% got the joke and 50% did not

11:08 AM Oct 8th: Although I will say FX was NOT supposed 2 accompany the ep. w all those fucking D&B's and Coors commercials. That's what fucks it up.

11:10 AM Oct 8th: If u watch the ep. w no commercials on DVD or iTunes or whatever u will like it a lot more. I promise. We learned our lesson on that one.

  • It was deliberately over-the-top. That was the joke. FX ruined it by airing commericals for D&B's in the middle.

  • @TulseLuper Yeah, but those are actual sponsors of the show. It's not like they just wrote those jokes or whatever and decided for story or comedic reasons to include those products, they are paid to do that. I'm not crying "sellout" here, because TV shows make money off of ads, and people tend to fast-forward through standard commercials, so now the ads are hidden in the shows themselves. But still, it's not 100% joke, it's definitely deliberate product placement.

  • @TheRichardHinckley Well, no. It was the joke. But why would they choose products that they AREN'T sponsored by to use for the joke? That would make no sense. Let's say you have Pepsi sponsoring you and you want to do a joke like this. Would you use Sprite to make that joke? No. No you would not. Because that would just kind of be awkward. You'd use Pepsi because why not? I mean, if they got paid for the joke then more power to them as well.

  • This isn't the first time that these characters have gotten obsessed with a product and decided to have their lives revolve around it. I'm not saying it's not product placement, just that it is super over-the-top.

  • whos thriving?

  • You guys are dumb. Television is television; it's designed to promote ideas to viewers. You have the choice of either choosing to accept those ideas, or ignore them. If you're aware of that then there isn't a reason to complain.

If anything, poor product placement is just entertaining.

Promotions happen, commercials happen. If they didn't, then the show wouldn't have the funding to be on the air. "The man" isn't going to brainwash you into buying Coors or going to Dave & Buster's.

  • I just wish they were more over-the-top with it.

  • It's not selling out; their target audience is 20 somethings, Coors and D&B go together perfectly. And add the Sunny satire into it = hilarious. Don't complain that the show wants to make money and stay on the air.

  • I have no problem with product placement when it's done well. The neon Coors sign and Di's first reference to the blue mountains on the bottle was subtle yet effectively selling the brand. Charlie saying he turns on the Coors sign so people know they can get delicious Coors-- way over the top. Then it just got old

  • If there's any question as to whether they were paid product placements, the "It's Always Sunny.. is sponsored by Dave & Buster's" ad during the commercial break should clear that up.

  • Yeah, arrested development takes the cake. The worst "plug" written in was Carl Weathers talking about how you can get free refills, which was hilarious.

This episode just sucked. At least Frank and Dee weren't selling Ginsu brand knives.

  • It's a double edged sword.. I agree completely that we're much better off that It's Always Sunny exists but the over the top shameless whoring is unnecessary. They have more ratings, money and advertising power than ever (remember Season 1? - no budget, no celebrities, no following and they still did it)

I think we as fans just want them to a shitload of money during those 3 min internals instead of during the 22 minutes of entertainment - and to NEVER blur the two together

  • Who gives a shit? Welcome to television people get over it, still the best show around.

  • WTF are you talking about? you know those 3 min intervals that they have every 10 min? those are called commercials. they are how the show gets made. are they sellouts because they run commercials durring their program too? Maybe they are just trying to keep the show within the real world and not make up stupid names for things that already exist. If they have to advertize the show to make enough money to keep it on the show then who ives a crap.

  • im heart broken that they did this. ill give them one more chance ..if they do it again im done for good with this show. unbelievable.

  • Dude just leave then, the show doesn't need fans like you. Giving the program an ultimatum as if you're important to it's success...Get that crap outta here.

  • suck a nut

  • Wow what a quick response, and so mature too.

  • agreed. Lol it was obviously a joke, the episode is called "the recession" and they do that hahah brilliant. Even if they did get paid its still funny

  • I am sooo pissed about this. It wasn't forced enough to feel like a joke. It had to be a real product placement ploy. And if it was just a joke, they could have used fake names like Koors, or Dan and Blakes or some shit like that.

  • Ya but the episode is called "the recession" and they throw all that out there hahaha and what do you mean it wasn't forced enough? If that isn't forced enough then wtf is?
