There is much documentation of people who have had life after death experiences, even atheist that decribe a hellish place that have made them become beleivers after. Not one of these people know what happens in death, and the sad thing is they also don't know how long they have to live. Very sad!
@ bren6415 Hey, guess what? Those people didn't really die. They were approaching death, their bodies were shutting down. There was little blood getting to their brains and they were probably in excruciating pain. Of course they had horrible hallucinations. Those stories prove nothing.
These were hospital cases and people who were declared clinically dead. No heartbeat, No pulse, No breath, they were clinically dead. They are able to tell the doctors after recovery what was happening in the ER, or OR while in the state of death. Why is it only the non beleivers describe horrible experience, and the beleivers decribe good and many didn't want to come back. If death is the same for all of us(a state of nothing) as you want to beleive, then why the difference?
@bren6415 What you don't say is whether there was any neurological (brain) activity when these experiences took place. These experiences and memories occur in the brain. Those people were not dead. The problem with your claims is they are unproven anecdotes, not verifiable fact.
Apart from that, where is the documentation that believers had good experiences and non believers had bad? Give numbers and examples or I have to think this is just hearsay.
There are so many factors to take into account to explain differences in experiences. What was the prior mental and emotional state of the people involved, what was the condition of the body just before the near death experience occurred, what was the physical cause of the "death"? What was involved in bringing the person back to life? Were some of the subjects under sedation at the time?
Furthermore, even if there was a period where there was no brain activity, one has to allow the possibility that the experiences took place and were recorded in the memory before the brain stopped functioning or after it resumed functioning. There is no way to prove that these experiences took place when the body was "dead". There is no objectivity to these claims.
I have read many books on the subject, and I have never read a case where an atheist had a good experience. I was not trying to prove anything. It's just something to think about. Jesus knew thousands of years ago,that if someone came back from death, non beleivers wouldn't believe it. God doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. Either you beleive or you don't.

There is much documentation of people who have had life after death experiences, even atheist that decribe a hellish place that have made them become beleivers after. Not one of these people know what happens in death, and the sad thing is they also don't know how long they have to live. Very sad!

@ bren6415 Hey, guess what? Those people didn't really die. They were approaching death, their bodies were shutting down. There was little blood getting to their brains and they were probably in excruciating pain. Of course they had horrible hallucinations. Those stories prove nothing.

These were hospital cases and people who were declared clinically dead. No heartbeat, No pulse, No breath, they were clinically dead. They are able to tell the doctors after recovery what was happening in the ER, or OR while in the state of death. Why is it only the non beleivers describe horrible experience, and the beleivers decribe good and many didn't want to come back. If death is the same for all of us(a state of nothing) as you want to beleive, then why the difference?

@bren6415 What you don't say is whether there was any neurological (brain) activity when these experiences took place. These experiences and memories occur in the brain. Those people were not dead. The problem with your claims is they are unproven anecdotes, not verifiable fact.
Apart from that, where is the documentation that believers had good experiences and non believers had bad? Give numbers and examples or I have to think this is just hearsay.

There are so many factors to take into account to explain differences in experiences. What was the prior mental and emotional state of the people involved, what was the condition of the body just before the near death experience occurred, what was the physical cause of the "death"? What was involved in bringing the person back to life? Were some of the subjects under sedation at the time?

Furthermore, even if there was a period where there was no brain activity, one has to allow the possibility that the experiences took place and were recorded in the memory before the brain stopped functioning or after it resumed functioning. There is no way to prove that these experiences took place when the body was "dead". There is no objectivity to these claims.

I have read many books on the subject, and I have never read a case where an atheist had a good experience. I was not trying to prove anything. It's just something to think about. Jesus knew thousands of years ago,that if someone came back from death, non beleivers wouldn't believe it. God doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. Either you beleive or you don't.

@lizazoon No I hadn't't heard about that. It is an interesting discovery as it may have an impact on issues of "whether to pull the plug" etc. Of course that would also depend on how reliable the interpretation of the data. I don't see the relevance of this regarding any proof of an afterlife.
