If Sesame Workshop still has the Magic Finger clip for the letter Q, they should complete the set; I remember seeing that one along with the K and M clips, back in the day.
It was sound effects like the ones by Kermit in this clip that 'got me hooked,' even to a point that when I was in high school. Whenever I tried to demonstrate that I understood something by using my hands, I would generally use some sort of sound effect to accompany the 'hand movement.' Now that I think about it, it just might reflect the profund effect that early Sesame Street had on me (i.e. in certain ways). Thanks for posting!
I've been looking for a LONG time for "Alphabet Bates"! Some people would be on the street talking, or whaever, then they would hear a plane. MOST of the time, he would draw a letter with his plane. SOMETIMES, though, his plane would dump him out, & he would parachute to to the street, where he would draw the letter with his hand. Does ANYONE know where I can see this?
You are so right. And therefore... if Kermit pointed out his name, that certainly would've been a good idea since his name begins with "K" like you said.
@lacigreen: Both versions were common in the late 60s/early 70s, according to some of my older friends who remember their first-grade writing classes.
I wish we had the three part lecture Kermit did with the letter K back in the first season, a lost great that is!

There was another Finger Game clip in
which Grover tried to go "Zzzzggguuk!"
with his finger, and he ended up going
"Cccchhhhuutzi, Guutchie, Guuutchie!"
Grover scribbled over Kermit's drawing
of a letter, which I've somehow gorgotten
what it was. Anyway, I know the Finger
Game with a square exists on YouTube,
as does the letter M, and K. Does the 4'th
one I mentioned about exist, too?
