  • My left hand is cramping up at the very suggestion of that :)

  • yoyo ma came along to dislike this =P

  • he looks like serj

  • This Bach work is difficult because it's tessatura is at least a 5th higher than the rest of suites. That is because it was conceived and written for an instrument that had an EXTRA string: an E string! So when cellists play it they have to play it on only 4 strings.

  • I'll find you one person...

  • DAMN! I wish I could play tht well! My friend who is a viola can play this on his viola which is pretty cool:p

  • Kid: "Look, mom! It's Chuck Norris!"

Mom: [putting on glasses to see] "Darling, I know the cellist is quite beastly but Chuck Norris is no where near as talented as him."

  • hoe can one person dislike the best cellist ever

  • hoe can one person dislike the jesus of cello

  • There is probably no more than a handful of cellists in this world that can play the D major Courante like this. I think this movement is the hardest in the entire six suites.

  • @Yibar Suite 6 was meant to symbolize triumph and joy. The final suite is the hardest because it is the "grand finale" of the 6. The gavotte (I & II) are the hardest pieces of the song in my opinion because it has some really difficult, yet joyous double stops.

  • @CallOFDutyMVP666

Why do peaple keep calling these songs?! It pisses me off in an irrational fashion.

  • that is so fucking fast. look at the fingers

  • It's so amazing, watching the bow just bounce around so quickly...

  • Can anyone tell me where is this place?

  • @maskscraper I think I read a comment a long time ago that said this was at some European museum.

  • Accuracy ....

  • full

  • If you were to buy a cello would ask you what size, they come in 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4.

1/4 obviously being the smallest scale, you get the one that works with your size. And in this case Mischa Maisky is about 20 feet tall lol so its quite safe to assume its a 4/4.

  • well he's an adult, and not a midget, so i think it's safe to presume it's a fullsize

  • this song makes me all jumpy!!! :) hes good!!!

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Man his left hand is so solid... yet so relaxed!! O.O

  • Like the Bruce Lee of Cello

  • @Manny1222 More like the Chuck Norris of the cello--his beard will beat the instrument until it submits to his will.

  • wow

  • (O_O)

This piece should come with a warning. It's unbelievably difficult to play, and Maisky not only memorises the entire piece but plays it perfectly.

  • he makes me want to go rehearse my viola for hours....

  • Tell me about it...

  • me too but my viola was a rental from my school so i dont have a viola right now but he still makes me want to practice the piano till i die!!!

  • I don't like that little turn at the end.

  • It was a little weird..but it still worked

  • @Kurtyoungblood lol he does that for all the mvts of every suites

  • Rostropovich and Maisky are probably two two greatest cellist that lived in recent years. Their interpretation vary from more modern and emotional: Maisky, and classic and romantic baroque

  • whoops, baroque being Rostropovich.

  • this guy is really good at playing the cello.

  • Haha, you are the king of understatement.

  • lol thanks

  • Haha isn't it?!

  • @Kurtyoungblood, Haha, you too.

  • @jonjonz91 D-C#-D!!

  • who doesnt like maisky?!

  • omg thata amazing

  • amazing recording. i'm so relieved that he actually plays a couple of notes out of tune in this one!

  • Don't comment on mistakes, its kinda gay.

  • i agree with cellodiva2007. it takes one to know one.

  • im saying that if you really enjoyed this video you would just shut the fuck up for once and listen to how beautiful it is without trying to pick out every little flaw in his rendition. Just listen man!

  • but sir, i am not trying to pick out every little flaw i really dont see anything wrong in this rendition and since i dont have the sheet music with me, how am i supposed to pick out the flaws? i dont even play the cello i just love it. Gosh!

  • excellent! enjoy!

  • @Snobbstech777 Don't use "gay" as an insult, its kinda homophobic.

  • Hey mistakes make it human! Would much rather mistakes than a studio-perfect recording.

  • This romentic style matches quite well.

  • Good

  • Out of this world!! Can cello get any better than bach?

  • Why stop at cello?

  • the start to this suite should be very strong. look at rostropovich's version. its stat and the whole suite is great.

  • damn.. mad fast..

some parts are similar to the courante for the suite 1

  • That's a lot of notes...

    *dives into technical exercises*

  • Absolutely remarkable!

  • im floored...

  • Wow. Amazing. I loved it!

  • holla my fellow stringed instrument brother

  • Good

  • yes i finished all my math before he finished playing all 6 suites! yaaaaaahhhhh

  • You must have had a TON of homework!

  • Good

  • Good

  • It comes so easy for him. I should go practice!

  • Wow! Mischa, you left me with out breath, you are amazing, thank you for posting this video
