I remember as a kid in a United Pentecostal Church hearing that Dottie Rambo had gone "charismatic." I didn't know what that meant except that she started wearing makeup and cut her hair....GOD FORBID...LOL! Then I looked in our hymnal and noticed that she wrote most of the songs. We kept singing them. How can anyone deny the god-inspired words of her songs...some UPC churches did I assume, but we couldn't.
@rbailey1able Trying not to offend, when one church wanted women's hair down and one wanted it up, there was a period when Dottie wore hers half-up and half-down. That's what her husband Buck told me, anyway - for sure it was a commentary on how silly people can be about externals. She truly was charismatic, in the true definition of the word - having drawing power. I fell in love with her in the late 1960's and never got over it.
Probably the only person in the world whose entire funeral program was comprised of songs written by the deceased! Now Jessy has joined Dottie at The Rock. Rest in peace, Dottie and Jessy, until we meet at Jesus' feet.
@JurisArcane You probably were not exposed to the news media on that day. They'll never quit talking about the deaths of "important" people like Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson, but a real lady who spent the last 60 years of her life writing 2,500 Christian songs (some of which could be found in most church hymnals before churches quit using hymnals), and who touched the lives of countless individuals in a positive way, is barely worth a mention.
Ugh, I know it. It's absolutely ridiculous. Poor thing - she was 74, fought several tough battles in life, and then it ends like that. Really makes me angry. Sometimes faith is not an easy thing.
Thank you for the reply - I'm sure I'm just one more joining the list of many millions who have grieved for a true working, loving, and devoted christian in the Body of Christ.
I completely agree with @JackieLambMusic. The Spirit was everywhere. I was there with my mom and I was so touched! We also went to Vestal's funeral and they were both spirit-filled celebrations! A very sad day, but can you imagine when she went through those pearly gates and saw the Master and listening to her and Vestal singing with the Lord!
I've loved Babbie for over 20 years. This clip demonstrates what a loving woman of God she is. May she be blessed for all of her days for her lovingkindness, caring heart, and humble spirit!
Truly a fun, inspiring version, with Geron Davis at the Hammond B3! The low, low key must have been chosen to accommadate both voices. You are too cool, Babbie! Glad you subtely give Jessy the text like you did! We lovin' you here over in France.

what they don't show you on this video is that they had to encore that song 3 times or so. The spirit truly began to sweep across the church and Babbie and Jessi had to keep on singing it.
Terrific!!! GREAT STUFF. R.I.P. Dottie Rambo and Jessy Dixon - 1 Thess 4:13-18

@chaka58448317 Her body died May 11, 2008 in a single vehicle bus wreck, and her spirit and soul went to be with Jesus.

It's just so fitting to have the Homecoming family give Dottie her Homegoing celebration.

They had to do at least one like this
for Dottie.
She was, (and is) filled with the joy of
the Lord and His Holy Ghost, and it
overflows with rhythm and dance.
