  • Hi im just proposing an alternative to ur rocker switches on the chest plate.

Instead of using the microwave dinner box another cheap alternative would be to use bulsar wood, it cheaap and soft enough to be cut with sisors and would look a bit more solid than the card board but brilliant work nonetheless

  • Yes, balsa wood would work well--it's also light enough to be glued on without falling off all the time.

In a pinch, you could also carve switches from styrofoam, but the finish wouldn't be as good.

  • I have to admit, I rather enjoy your vids! I get most of my info from them...although, I see you use quite alot of "TV Dinner" boxes....dude, you shouldnt eat those all the time :P

  • how much $ are those boots and where did u get them

  • OMG! you are the best making costume...

  • Thank you SO much man! Extremely helpful vid!

I just got myself jump-suit and gloves today, gonna start building the rest in the next week, cant wait to be part of the 501st :D

  • You will not get in the 501st with it -- they are Nazis about costume accuracy. This costume is intended for use in fan films. It's not intended for trooping.

  • haha thanks man, well this is my first home made costume, so next time i get a chance I'll do a bit more advanced version and then try :)

  • @lflank

Nazis is a bit harsh bro. I am a member of the 501st and we do alot of events where accuracy is a must, like promotional events for Lucasfilm, or any of their licensees. We have alot of talented people making our stuff, 99% of it is fan made.

None the less, your work is pretty awesome. I love seeing how people can use their mind to create the proper shapes to pull off a costume. Ive been making costumes sincve i was a kid. Well done my freind.

  • @Lou4130 would this costume be accepted in the 501st ? haha

  • ur cool!!!

  • dude ur tutorials are awesome

  • what site did u get the helmet at? could u give me a link for the helmet please? thanx

  • is your helmet from rubies

  • nice job on your chest box i like looks realy good n holds the breathing hose realy well

  • great! just great!

  • it's intoresting how you make this stuff.

  • how much is a green screen

  • you can make one with indy mogul for about 40 bucks

  • Keep doing your thing, it looks like you're having a lot of fun making your costumes and are doing it for a fraction of the cost of what a screen-accurate kit would cost!

  • Is your Helmet the Classic Don Post Deluxe?

  • is that a rubies helmet?

  • that is cool!

  • great costume yet again! do you think rubber rain boots would look good with this costume?

  • Dude you must be a wanted man by now for nicking all of the "For Sale" signs in your naeighbourhod:P

  • Very good HerrGeneral. Very cost efficient.

The cardboard , and sale sign ideas, well iv never thought of that. Good job

  • Where did you get your Boots, have they also german size, 47? I´m sry i don´t know the american size and also where you get yourhelm?

  • I got both the helmet and the boots at Amazon Com.

  • Wow thanks a million, i want to make my own Tie Fighter Costum like yours, to go at the jedi con in germany next year, thanks, i like the costum because it look´s realy realy cool and also it´s not expensive, your realy a costum master!

  • I got mine at Amazon for twenty bucks.

  • I SO want that costume!!! :)

  • Tee hee hee. . . No, I don't work for George Lucas. But if he's watching and wants to make an offer . . .

    ;)

  • I always wondered, can you see perfectly out the helmet?

  • No. You can hardly see a damn thing. :)

  • Aww that sucks. I was hoping to run around places in a tie pilot costume and look at everyone's reactions

  • even if your costumes aren't screen accurate they are pretty damn cool, your homemade costumes looks more like the real thing then some of the costumes you buy online!

  • nice work. i like that little line you had at the beginning of the video, haha.

  • your videos are tight.Try making a video of making a darth vader costume

  • Tee hee hee.

Of course, unless it was made by Lucasfilm, neither is anyone else's.

    :)

  • TIE fighter pilot uniforms are indeed cool but details are kind of hard to make out being all black. I'd very much like to do a flight suit based on how the pilots look from the 66th Fighter Group from a back story I came up with, helmet and armor are gray and flight suit is a charcoal gray.

I might just give that a try someday!

  • The pure black makes them really really hard to film, too. All the detail gets lost. I suppose that's why Lucas added the silver details on the helmet in ROTJ.

  • Wow, makes me wanna play X-Wing vs Tie Fighter again!

  • why do you have all those swords and spears on the wall? btw they look pretty sweet

  • Back in my younger days, I did medieval re-enactment. I still have all my stuff.

  • Maybe I'll say it again but I love your films!!!

  • man I love all your movies they are so awesome, and I don't like to buy stuff but I like to make it and With your help I will get realy far.

    your biggest fan ;)

  • I prefer to make stuff too rather than buy it. Any doofus with a checkbook can BUY a sooper-dooper thousand-dollar 100%-screen-accurate Lucas-licensed replica. But MAKING something for a fan film from scrap parts, that looks good on camera, is easy to make, and doesn't cost a month's pay, takes talent, imagination and creativity -- things that the "write a big check and buy one" folks, don't have.

  • If you buy the kits you practically have to learn a new skill set to make it fit you.

Its taken me months and a lot of creativity to build my suit.

While I admire what you are doing slamming people who do it the other way is just wrong. Easy and Storm trooper kit are not 2 phrases I would put together.

  • No one is "slamming" anybody.

All of you guys from the 501st are utterly missing the point. These costumes don't meet 501st standards because **that's not what they are for**. They are intended as prop costume for fan film makers (especially young ones) who want stormtroopers or TIE pilots in their films but can't afford to spend $200-$800 for a costume.

If that isn't what you want, then these aren't the costumes you're looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.

  • I Love TIE fighters and YOU HAVE THE BEST IDEAS EVER!!!!!!!!

  • your videos rock, their low budget and fun to do, i just havinf trouble to find some for sale signs in uk...what type of plastic is it or were to buy them online/type of shop

  • It's thin sheet plastic. Styrene, I think.

  • If you can find one for a helmet try to go for any DOn Post TIE helet. THey are hard to find though

  • YOu don't have to paint the chin or the frown silver it is just as canon as with the paint depends on the episode

  • But it looks really crappy on film without the silver highlights. Adding the details helps to define it more on camera.

  • do the boots have to be leather

  • Nope, any calf-high black boot will do, but leather looks the best.

  • THANKS MAN YOU'R THE BEST

  • can u get a ceap noarmal white helmet and paint it,use some black tube and conect it?oh and buy the way u have the best ideas ever.

  • Yes, painting a cheap stormtrooper helmet black will work in a pinch, but it does look different than the TIE helmet. The TIE helmet has the "mohawk' ridge along the top, and the ear plates look different. But for a fan film, probably no one would notice. :)

  • swg all the way

  • what website did you buy your helmet from?

  • Nice that was amazing!

  • Wow, this is amazing, although I'm a little kid and my parents won't buy me the materials for this I still like watching this!Hey I wanted to ask if you were going to make Something like a Darth Vader Custom 'cause it gets to be too expensive for me...Or if not keep going with your customs/sabers/blasters they are awesome and Merry Christmas!!

  • Awsome I'm a giant STARWARS geek

  • Beautiful it looks awesome!

    merry christmas!

  • cool

  • this looks very cool!merry xmas.

  • Wow, that looks really good! Merry christmas :)

  • sweet! I think that this one turned out looking a bit better than the stormtrooper costume, but they are both very good looking. Keep em coming!

  • nice job.awesome
