Being a young mom doesn't mean your life is over or your future. I Had my first son when i was 16 and my second at 18. I never thought education was so important till i experienced struggles. Not with raising them but rather getting them the nice stuff. I went back to school , got my grade 12, went to college and became an educational assistant . I did all this with them because they were my strength they helped push me further i still plan to do more schooling. I have them to thank for it.

Im 18 years old. I got pregnant at 16 and had my son at 17. I had alot of pressure about adoption. I had so many people look down on me for being a teen mom but my son is one years old almost 2 and keeping him is the best decision ive ever made. I graduated highschool early and i attend college full time and work part time. it gets hard but watching him grow makes the hard work worth it.

@jenny12233. I was 17 going on 18 when I became pregnant- first time drinking. But let me tell you. My principal at the time told me to get an abortion because I would never make it as a single mother. People pressured me to give my son up for adoption...I couldn't live with myself I went on to be the commencement speaker with my Bachelor's and achieved my MBA with honors. I'm 33 with a wonderful son. Never give up...always believe in you!

@GnarGnarSaysNO The same thing happened to me in 1981. All this pressure from friends and family. I felt all the world was against me and it gave me the strenght to continue the way I wanted. He's 29 years old today and will be a father in march. So a beautiful little girl will call me grandma. Look at what I would have missed if I had listened to them.

im 19 graduated from high school and expecting a baby girl feb 25 2011.
my mom tried to make me get an abortion so bad 2 the point were i got kicked out because i didnt do it. had 2 live with a friend.. But now we are getting along just fine and im back at home..
TO ALL TEEN MOMS no matter how much pple pressure u 2 do abortion dont do it if thats not wat u really want 2 do KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! even if u have no where 2 go or no money the government can help u get medicaid. STAY STRONG :)

@hannas1234 Not once in this song does Shania suggest to high school kids to have children but the reality is in this world, it is happening. Shania went through HELL when her 'what she thought was her true love' up and left her with a child. She struggled through the years of working hard and still being a single parent/a good mom too. This song speaks to so many people who have been or are becoming a singe parent/point is the struggle is worth it for our kids! Give her a break already!!!!

Its media like this that sends the message to kids that being irresponsible is not a problem and consequences to actions don't really matter. If a teen mother can live the rest of her life happily and be a responsible parent, thats fine, but she likely won't achieve success or accomplish her dreams in her lifetime.

I say again not once does Shania suggest that teen pregnancies are ok, she speaks quite strongly of her struggles and I would say if anything discourages the idea of teen moms. I would suggest you listen to the song again before you throw around any more sarcastic comments. Who made you the expert on life - there are many many teen moms/single parents who have/are fufiled their dreams.

Every teenage girl who throws caution to the wind and does whatever the he11 she pleases, or whatever feels right at the moment (with her true love, no less), deserves to, and WILL, grow up to become famous and/or successful.

There are many teen moms who have gone on to make something of their life (despite their struggles) and I say again, many single moms who are older who have to battle through on their own who also make something of their lives. And again, the point of the song is the struggle is worth it for our kids!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps there are fewer single moms in the UK, but here in good 'ole 'merica, teen pregnancy runs rampant. Some girls even do it just to make a statement. But then, we're all just dumb rednecks, right?
Oh, and you've no idea my level of education, grandma.
My advice is expensive, I don't toss it out for free. And the truth hurts sometimes.

Either way, I certainly wouldn't want to be ANY member of your family. God help anyone coming to you for advice, guidance, comfort or sympathy. You are a cold hearted person. my mom can relate to this she had me at 15 then my dad left her and everyone was telling her to give me up her parents didnt want anything to do with her so she moved out kept me and finished high school now she is 30 and im 15 my mom had 3 kids by the time she was 19 but she never gave up so all u teen mothers stay strong and dont give up everything will all work out

My best friend just turned 15 august 15th, she found out bout a week before her bday is a month pregnant. She doesnt have a very good life at all, her parents tell her they hate her and she not a good kid and she wont be a good mom. I think she will be a good mom, the best mom she can be. They have barely any money. I told her Im gonna help her. But anyway she cries night and day. hope shes a better parent then her mom. Stay strong everybody, u will get through this. :)

im a 15year old female got a 5month old lil girl i was verry shocked when i found out i was pregnant but i did have the support of her dad untill i was 7months pregnant then he uped and left lucky i had everything i needed to bring my daughter into the world i didnt feel ready to be a mum buht i dnt believe in abortions and i wanted my daughta to know her mum

A wonderful song. I am 20 and I always feel sad when I see young girls with babies. Teens shouldn't be having babies, its wrong. This is is the 21st C, we should know better.

After reading my last comment I really do apologize.
It really wasn't the way I meant it in my head. I meant it like this "Young teens shouldn't "PURPOSEFULLY" be having babies. I don't think they understand the tremendous responsibility a baby brings. I think that too often (not saying you are the case) young girls think a baby is all about the cute little clothes and the little loving bundle of joy. I just want people to be responsible for their actions....

no my son was a surprise he will never be deamed an accidenct cuz hes not at all! and i know what kind of responsablilty children are i had to raise my now 6 yr old sister. from the time she was born till ohh she was a year. you guys classify us as irresponable because we are so young and thats not it at all. i agree there are some who do not step up but thats not fair to those of us who do and don't get the credit thats due for doing so because there are so many of us that dont

Im seventeen with a 6 month old daughter and she was born when I was still 16 My boyfriend is still with me and we live together in my parents house. I graduated school before I even had my girl. And now I am in uni studying to be a vet and working as an equestrian instructor..

OK i was 15 when i got pregnate with my daughter Beth... I was 15 1/2 when i got marriad and now im 20. Yes it was hard. But i got through it and now i have a son on the way.. As im going to say people think having a baby at 15 is a big thing wich it isnt if u are responsiable to have a baby at that agae and you can look after that baby.. Then keep it..
