  • We are not a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic with Dual Sovereignty of power between the Federal & State governments.

We should repeal the 17th Amendment, return to the original Electoral College system and elect Ron Paul and like minded Congressional freshmen.

  • when liberals can't win , they want to rules to change.

  • @HorseWaterDrink

Whenever fascists realize that a (democratic) system is corruptible they are going to exploit the flaws.

  • Every vote counts? How about the Kerry/Bush election? NONE of Oregon's votes were counted yet Florida was the deciding state of who was gonna win. Our forefathers had no insight to 100 years or more into the future- only what they knew then. Not saying they were stupid but look at us today. We are a smarter race. I say get rid of the electoral college. It's as useless as those stupid pagers everybody thought were state of the art

  • Unlike during the time of our forefathers, we now have the technology to establish and execute a national popular vote fairly and efficiently. The US should take the next step towards a true democracy and do away with the electoral college. Thanks.

  • I Think that the Electoral College should be dismantled and allow Direct Voting for a leader. And the truth is our vote doesn't count,we just Vote for the pledge that electoral is going to vote for so in other words your letting someone know who to vote for! And they can vote for any elligible canidate for president! THAT IS NOT A TRUE DEMOCRACY! TEAR DOWN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE AND LET THE AMERICAN PEOPLE VOTE DIRECTLY FOR THE NEXT LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD!

  • I do not want to vote for someone to vote for me.

The only way that the individual's vote means anything is if the popular vote wins the election.

    The Electoral College must go.

  • The United States Consitution has not yet been realized. I am with you.

  • Excellent point- however if I had a billion dollars I would be every last cent of it that your question will never ever be allowed for this debate or any other. The elite know that must people do not know the people do not elect the president- it is all just a show. As you know by maintaining the eletoral college intact, the elite ensure control over who is elected president and then of course as I assume you know he/she are controlled by the Bildebergs heads.

  • Why not have direct elections for the World Government?

The fact is the United States are 50 independent states and each state should choose who it wants to be president.

If you make it direct vote, you will just get New York/Texas/Florida/California and big-city policies and the smaller states and towns will probably becomes separatists and America will split into multiple countries.

  • Although technology is far from foolproof, I would much prefer to cast my ballot and elect our nation's leaders through direct popular vote rather than an outdated horse and buggy

institution. Let's not forget...when our leaders endorse "spreading democracy" throughout the world and disaffected voters everywhere liken it to a farm chore, remember that democracy is a CHOICE that must be selected by citizens - not political zealots. Direct elections are the strength of

    democracies.
