@imhere82 if you run a line of double sided adhesive tape along the ribbon (or two lines if it's thick), you can then fold and layer the ribbon without the staples.

the gathered ribbons first looked like chocolate shaves when I saw the video's picture so i thought, yummy! well, even if there is no chocolate, it still looks cute.
Instead of stapled you could use a needle and thread, that's probably less viable

nice card, but I'm not crazy about the visible staples, could you possibly get the same effect another way?

@imhere82 Looking at the card I would say you could get the same effect using mini glue-dots inside the folds, instead of the stables.
