The camera has a 4-pin firewire port. Most desktop computers with firewire ports have larger 6-pin connections, so I bought a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable. You can see an example of what it looks like in one of my other videos called "Capturing mini DV video tutorial".
it was your review on amazon, and posts on youtube that prompted me to buy the DCR-HC62. I am eagerly anticipating the usage of the smooth interval recording feature, but it is extremely hard to find it on the lcd menu. am i missing something?
In record mode (as opposed to playback mode), go to P-MENU, then MENU, then PICT.APPLI., then the fourth option is SMTH INT. REC. That's it. You can customize the menu so you don't have to dig so deep to get to this feature, but that's where it is by default.
Unfortunately, the USB is only for downloading photos, you can't capture video through the USB port. The camera doesn't come with a firewire cable, you have to buy one separately.
I'm not sure about that model, but on the DCR-HC62 it's called "smooth interval recording." Look for that feature in the specs. In the menu it just says "INT. REC" or "SMTH INT.REC".
The time lapse of this camera take a shot exataly the seconds set on the camera? Because mine don`t. It`s taking five times longer. When I set 1sec it takes 5 sec to shot, 2sec is taking 10 sec... My camera has a problem?
The LCD shows a live view when recording a time lapse and little red dots appear in the upper left of the screen when it records a frame. The camera takes five frames and holds them in memory, then it records those five to the tape all at once. When it writes them to tape, you can actually see the screen update as it shows you the last five frames in quick succession. Is this what you're seeing? If so, the camera is probably recording correctly.
I was looking up videos on this camera because i was interested in buyimg one, but the lowest price i can find is 270 dollars. Ill pay that much if i find out its the lowest price, so, tell me, how much did you buy yours for and where? Cool video, by the way.
I'm happy with this camera. I use it a lot for time lapse and it has great time lapse capabilities. I also use it for regular video and it works well for me. I have never used the still image feature because I have a digital SLR, so I can't comment on the still images.
