  • True perfection in expressing emotion from one end of the scale to the other in such a masterfully way. Thank you for changing my life.

  • My God this IS exactly how I feel. I'm sooo angry and hurt by this world, but yet, I want it to change which means somewhere in me that i'm STILL hopeful for it....Todd seems to have a song for evey joy and conflicting emotion.Wish it were as simple as my singing this song.Thank you, ''JoeF''

  • Todd is god. What a guy. A better songwriter you wont find.

  • Great song!! This is the first time I've heard this. Really nice.

  • loaded... one of those people i would love to meet...

  • Is that Anton on drums?

  • @JonP1961 Yep...it's Anton!

  • @michelerundgren

Sweet! First time I met him was his freshman year at New England Conservatory. I was a pup, but it's a name you can't forget.

  • wow, liked how he did this one!

  • Tod Rundgren made a 3d computer animation for this song on an Amiga computer years ago.

His video and his song are amazing.

I hope to see his video again someday.

  • ITS TODDS BIRTHDAY!! YIPPPEEE!!! GREAT YEAR...THE YEAR HE WAS BORN.

  • @rabbitntigger

rabbit this year we bought him a guitar & all our names are on it...how cool is that! I love & admire Todd so much. I hope he lives forever!!!

  • Yes, I agree. He's a real treasure. Love this song - and his very original vocal style.

  • I love this song. Todd is just so special. I met him last week and he was the sweetest man,so gracious and funny, down to earth . He can still rock the house on his guitar better than most young rockers around nowadays. His voice still sounds amazing also! I thank goodness I got to finally see him perform and meet him in person after admiring him for so long.

  • TODD!!!!

    Oh my.

  • great song, luv the girls and todds "cool oufits" totally cool performance...

  • Rundgren is still such an incredible talent!

  • Very unique voice. Depth. My fave was Can We Still Be Friends but all of his music draws you in. Love Todd Rundgren.

  • This album came out when I was four years old and my mom got it since she was (still is) a big Todd Rundgren fan, so this is really one of the very very first songs I got really familiar with, and I don't think I've heard it since I was seven. I know they say that the sense of smell is most linked to memory, but I think this makes a big case for linking music to memory!

  • Todd is like the gold in fort Knox....not too many have seen it, but it is a wealth that is beyond imagination.

  • i don't mean to sound shallow, but he had the most fabulous dress sense during this era. everything he wears is just so TODD.

  • Thank you for posting this video! A beautiful song indeed. And it rings of truth. Todd is an amazing evolved illuminated being.

Oh how I wish I could see the Akron concert but alas, I am in Oregon. Come to Oregon Todd!

  • this cat is dope.

  • This song is part of "Computer Animation Festival -Volume 1.0".

  • stupid wmg got rid of that vid on youtube

  • Haven't heard this song in ages.. thanks for posting. Reminds me of the Newtek Video Toaster demo reel... Todd used that application to animate the music video for this song.

  • heart & soul

  • Nope the song has nothing to do with abortion>>>>>TODD IZ GODD to some of us....and he is the only person who has been blessed with ability to speak from one soul to another.....not many will ever be able to do that in any artistic way...Thank you,Todd...just me ..Marcia

  • you tell em Marcia! Right On!

  • do you all think this song is about abortion

  • no no no get a life!

  • God I love this song!!! Todd is so damn good!!!

  • this is such a beautiful song

  • Just Great

  • I'll "Try Again Tomorrow"......And FUCK AMERICAN IDOL!

  • They can "American Idol" for 50 years...There will never be another Todd Rundgren. Rock & Roll is close to over.

  • Todd is such a unique chap with that touch of originality in all his music.

He is a pioneer and is up there with the best like Lennon and McCartney,

    Quincey Jones and the Osmonds,

    just to name a few.

  • Ingenius song!

  • stellar!

  • Maybe I'm being dramatic as a Todd fan, but I think this is one of the best rock ballads ever written.

  • ...I first saw him in san francisco on a club tour around 1980-he had a tape player,guitar/piano and himself-was brilliant....i remember a female fan up front melting in a puddle of tears and sobbing ..."TODD,TODD!!"...It was kinda startling, yet touching...but by the end of the show I could feel where she was coming from...he's got a gift...

  • Was that the "Kabuki Theatere"? I was at a solo concert I would put '81, he played acoustic, and electrric and sang, did some piano and sang, then the tape machine at the end...great tour.

  • I'm thinking it was at The Warfield - again I'm not sure of the year in the early '80's....One of those years he also played at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley with Utopia- another great show....damn :long time ago,now !

  • Todd is playing Philly on New Years Eve. It's so gonna rock. Check out his new CD...ARENA....kicks serious ass.

Gotta luv Todd. He's my Godd!!!!

    I love this song....thank you!!!!

    ;o)

  • This is the best Todd. Should have sold a billion. Hope he makes another blue eyed soul record someday...

  • Paul, Sid McGuinnis, Will Lee, Anton Fig, and Dave Letterman together longer than most bands.

and Todd...... he is the best

  • lettermans band never sounded so good!

  • Love Love Love this one!!!!

  • a wizard, a true Star!!

  • are you american

  • Todd is one of rock's true intellectuals. His songs actually changed the way I thought about music forever.

  • Todd is the whole package;

    singer

    song writter

    composser

    musician

    stud

  • What a great song and great video. Not many as good as Todd.

  • love todd and love this song too. i'v seen him live many times and have to say people are very quick to criticise . he's living in a fabulous house in hawaii with his beautiful wife and kids and still touring every year. liars was a fab album. how many of you have achieved as much as todd ? enough said .

  • without ytube i never would have explored his work. really an extrodinary talent. just goes his own way with his own vision. saw him once in a restaurant i was working in. he was with darryl hall. no one but me knew who he was!

  • nokturna9 made me go see liars tour in stl. Much respect for TR ever since. I think I've seen him 3 times now and every show was unique and a blast.

  • Hmmm... will Dave be at the Bash?

  • Todd is Godd

  • my all time favorite

  • Lets face it,Like I saw written on a bathroom wall at a 1977 Utopia concert Todd is God!

This is my favorite song from Todd.

  • he changed my world

  • One of Todd's best songs from one of his best albums. I give him credit for always doing challenging material on Letterman's show. How many pickup bands could pull off "The Waiting Game"? Great.

  • and my world too plz :)) but wait a munite..its gonna be..

  • Todd changed my world

  • Surely there is no other singer who sings with such emotion!

  • check out the live in chicago '91 cd for great versions of second wind and nearly human songs. as well as other great stuff. it is my fave tr recording.

  • One of Todd's most soulful songs. LOVE IT!

  • After all these years and his brilliant body of work, he deserves to record an album on a cheap tape recorder naked in his back yard if he thinks it'll sound good. Oh, this is my favorite song on "2nd Wind" by the way. :)

  • it would

  • Moron! Liars is Todd's modern day swansong. Brilliant album from a true master.

  • 2nd Wind wasn't over produced - it was over rehearsed -- compare it to the "Live" side 4 of Something/Anything and the difference in the grove is phenomenal -- to me 2nd Wind is the Sound Pink Floyd was going for on 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' -- Still 'Change Myself' is a beautiful song.

  • I so agree with ya Todd!!!! :o)

    oxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • I see Michelle Rundgren comments on some of the Todd video in here BarbaraGrace. And being she was one of those half naked singers, I'm sure she would tell you about how hard she tried to get the rest of the band to dress down as well!

  • Love the song and love Todd, but what's the deal with the half naked women? I'm not a prude; it just makes me wonder, where are the half naked men? Sorry but it reeks of sexual discrimination. I expect a lot more from Todd!

  • The blond is his wife, Michelle.

  • Everyone knows that Michele (one l) is married to Todd!I wish she would go back on tour with him.

  • SO much better live!

  • Incredible athmosfere, like an angel's flock that blame

on the world for all the shit that we ceate,,,,,,,,

  • I love this song!

  • King of the UNDERGROUND...

  • Legend!!!

  • Is that a young Will Lee on bass? Anyone know?

  • umm.. who cares??

for the record, yes. it's him.

  • The critics were asleep on 2nd Wind, to be sure. Overproduced? It was recorded live!

  • Well put

  • Thanks for pointing that out dude! I was wondering where the "overproduced' comments were coming from...

  • Great song. I think 2nd wind is a good album though it seems like all critics agree that it is dull and overproduced. Lack of imagination!

  • Well, if the critics got that impression, Todd shares some of the blame for that. He wanted to do more stuff like "The Individualist," but Warner Bros. wanted an album with singles. He more or less just made this as a way to get out of his contract with them.

    Great album, though.

  • Sort of like TEPTAE. Same thing with Rhino\Bearsville. Only a wizard or a true star makes great albums while trying to get out of record company-contracts

  • True. It's just a shame he lost it right after that. The only album I've even been able to listen to after "2nd Wind" was "One Long Year," and only after a second listen. I appreciate Todd's desire to grow as an artist, but the sad fact is that it's not selling records. Ask anyone but a devoted Rundgren fan what his last album was, they probably couldn't tell you.

  • It has never been about selling records, thats why he's so great. Good things don't sell

  • The problem is that radio programmers won't even listen to his new stuff. Todd keeps growing and changing, and they've decided that he's a nostalgia act...never mind that his most recent album "Liars" is the best thing he's done in 20+ years.

  • His last CD was "Liars" and it was excellent, however one long year was a bit of a dog, I'll agree.

  • I've heard bits and pieces of "Liars," and I'm singularly unimpressed. I think that "One Long Year" will be my only post-major label TR album.

I did, however, check out both "A Wizard, a True Star" and "The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect," and fell in love with both albums. True, both albums had real clunkers, but songs like "Don't Hurt Yourself," and "International Feel" totally make up for that.

  • At least you weren't plurally unimpressed!

  • Check out these albums:

    Todd (74)

    Initiation (75)

    Faithful (76)

    Hermit of mink hollow (78)

    Healing (81)

And of course the Utopia albums. Enjoy!

  • I have both vinyl and CD copies of "Hermit," and a scratched copy of "Healing" which I still have to listen to all the way through.

  • Good on ya

  • Didn't Bearsville go under, and he just got shunted over to Warner Bros., since they were distributing Bearsville in the end?

  • thank you thank you thank you!! i've never seen this before - one of my top 5 faves by Todd - & there are dozens i love... Made my evening!

  • Fuuucckkk!!! that was brilliant.
