@MrUtster thanks! To record the Virus into Logic, I used a Creamware A16 Ultra with light pipe connection. The playhead glitching happened while I was recording the video with Snapz Pro. Could have been the software struggling or the settings I had for the video were not good.
@traandzatter Before to try download a Logic software (solution that I do not share ) be sure you've a mac and also you will have to completely relearn a new interface
@LordPlinko I never use pre made midi loops in my tracks, all my melodies and patterns are made using my synth keyboards, then I quantize and make any final adjustments in Logic.
@subconscious13 Very awesome! Thats what I do as well with my music. I just kind of think its lame when people organize premade loops and call it their own music. Regardless, nice track.
Every time a friend of mine mentions trance music, I link them this. They're usually blown away. I've listened to this song well over 100 times now. Seriously, you're a badass, man!
i was hoping if you maybe could help me with something?
i'm sort of new to logic, I'm really good with drums and alright with the baselines i just have a question. For the lead and some of the baselines i don't know what melody or notes to play. Do you have any tips for me??
@neillovestechno are you writing trance? Check out Trance Music mastery website, some good tips there. You can also buy samples and construction kits that have midi files and waves, you can use the midi files as a base to work with and get some ideas. Check out the MyLoops.net website for some good trance samples and midi files.
@bscannell120 it really depends on how much you know now. If you have had some experience with sequencers and midi and know about music production but know nothing about Logic, then start to learn the Logic program. If you know nothing about midi / sequencers and music production, then start by learning those things first. Also, later on you will benefit by learning how to program and modify sounds in the synthesizers within Logic (ES2 etc.).
I just got my macbook and logic pro 9. very excited to learn this much more intuitive than sonar and a few other pc programs. not too mention more stable. nice work on the tune
How easy was it to utilize logic studio to make this track? been searching around and figured might as well get it for my mac because I want to experiment with making music..
@on3k1ngd0m it wasn't that difficult for me as I have been using Logic for many years and I know my way around the program. Logic is a great for producing music, once you know the basics of the program, you'll be able to produce your own tracks. The initial learning curve is a little steep, however, there are plenty of tutes here on YouTube to help you, go for it!
Hey man love the mix. Have you had any luck with it? Also, I'm trying to figure out what you used for that snare effect that comes in on the 2 and the 4 throughout the mix. On the radio, I think they reverse it to lead into a clap and I'm trying to master that sound. Thanks!
@Tgreenfi08 good to know you like the mix. The clap sound you hear is basically a clap with a longer tail, written on my Waldorf Q. You could make a similar sound with any decent software synthesizer, cheers.
@Tgreenfi08 you can make the whoosh noises or you can buy some samples. I prefer to make them with my synths, then i have more control. If you need to learn, check out a white noise tutorial for Logic Pro on YouTube, Mrmilkcarton channel has a good tuturial. Tip from me, my whooshes had a lot of resonance applied in the filter section to give it that sound you hear in my track. cheers
i have a yamaha grand portable with waited keys (heavy keys)... can i use that option on logic studio or am i gona get that annoying delay till the key hits bottom? i hope you understood what i mean.
@LIGHTRONIX In the upper left corner of the piano roll, click on the "MIDI Out" button so that it is not highlighted green, this will prevent the note from playing each time you click on it or move it, and will remain that way for all instruments. It is better to do it this way so you don't have to constantly mute and unmute individual instruments.
What is the name of the kick your using and the clap also, they both come in at about 0:35 . Ive been looking everywhere for a decent one haha thanks! great song btw!
@paulosemifusa when you say sequels, I'm guessing you mean the main synth parts?
I used the Access Virus and other hardware synths for most sounds in the track, used the EXS24 in Logic for percussion samples etc. With more recent tracks, I'm using the ES2 a lot plus Sylenth1 by Lennar Digital.

@Freedom21stCenturi There is no "better" software. Both can record, do midi, and most of all, both make music. Everyone uses different software, it all comes down to which ever one YOU like. Download free demos, try them all out, then once you find one you like go ahead and invest the money. Don't listen too much to what other people say or bash on, because what one person hates, another may love.
So many 'probably classic' organ sounds don't seem available as VSTi, or as free samples.
So I decided to share the unique sounds of organs I love to record myself so much. Click my name for FREE ORGAN SAMPLES: LESSER-HEARD HAMMOND PLUS YAMAHA ELECTONE AND ROLAND INSTRUMENTS.
Copy, record, comment and enjoy! Or better still, make your own.
Excellent track! I could not zoom in to see how many samples you used. I try not to use many samples given the features of logic such as Ultrabeat, etc.
Also, Logic Pro is the exception. I have Reason, Abelton Live and Recycle. Recently purchased the Maschine, but Logic is a tremendous piece of software.
Additionally, youtube has many posts regarding tutorials to penetrate the software to accelerate your learning curve.
Reason for a "beginner"? If anything I found every other program ever made easier to learn than Reason. Logic, cubase, Live, Fl.... Reason gets out of control with the infinite routing possibilities. Once you press the tab key a whole nother world opens in Reason. If anything Fl Studio or Live would be better beginner programs. But I'd still go with Logic first as switching sequencers down the road will just set you back.
I love the sound from 0.50 up until it all kicks in... How did you make that sound? It sounds a bit like the opening of Paul Van Dyk's - Autumn track. Also, another question, can you get the Virus Tl hardware sounds on a software?
@astagfaar you mean the plucky sound that is similar to an electric piano? It's a sound I made on my Virus. The ADSR envelope is set to mimic a piano with minimal release and the high pass filter is set to close some of the higher frequencies. It's basically an e piano type sound. I also added some rhythmic delay. The Virus TI is only available as a hardware synth. You can edit and play the sounds on your MAC / PC with with Virus Control, check the Access website.
Love the beginning of your track. I want to get into music production too. Which software is better. Pro tools 9, or Logic studio (Logic 9) Any tips guys. I just bought my Apple Macpro, but have no idea where to start. All I have is a Midi keyboard and an Apple Mac pro. what other hardware would I be needing?
@astagfaar I'd stick with Logic 9, much better for writing and arrangement than Pro tools 9. You won't need much other hardware for Logic, if your midi keyboard connects via USB, then that will be be great for playing Logic's instruments. The audio out on the Mac is sufficient for headphones but if you want a good sounding output for external speakers, I suggest you get a Firewire audio interface such as the Presonus Firebox. all the best!
@subconscious13 Thanks for the advice man. I went to the shop today, and they tried to sell my Reason? they said apparently this is what I need as a beginner, and not Logic. What do you reckon, is the Reason software any good?
@astagfaar in my opinion, if you've never used Logic or Reason, you're still going to need to learn both. Logic may have a steeper learning curve, but I think you will be happier with Logic in the long term. Reason is fun and easier to get results fast, but I think you will be wanting Logic eventually... so save your money and get the best production tool first.
The shop advised Reason as they know you'll be back eventually to buy Logic from them. Then they'll be laughing as you bought 2 products from them not just one!
@astagfaar I've been producing for 7 years now and I have to say Logic is the best on the Mac, and FL Studio is the best on the PC. (My opinion) For hardware, I recommend getting a pair of studio reference monitors (speakers) and maybe a pair of headphones for private sessions. And a mic if you choose. a audio interface and if you wanted, a mixer for controlling the software. Thats up to you. The only bit of hardware I use is my midi keyboard and it's a beauty. :) I hope this helps :D
@Yendolf Yeah thanks. I'm just waiting to buy Logic Studio, I've got an Apple Mac Pro, and a midi keyboard (Novation Nocturn 25 or something) any good headphones you'd recommend? and what sort of mixer or audi interface would you recommend also. Thanks.
@astagfaar i honestly love my Sennheiser headphones. (HD 215) beautiful quality and they were only $75. My current keyboard has a mixer and sampler built in but prior to that I was using a Mackies controller. It was awesome but I don't think you want to dish out $1299 for hardware ;) I totally recommend the Korg NanoKontrol. It's small, compact, serves all the functions of a mixer and it's only $60. Also look into the Korg NanoPad. They are small and beautiful pieces of hardware. Great for ---
@astagfaar --- laptop users. :) my audio interface is the FireWire Solo Mobile Audio Interface. It's small, cheap, and is amazing. It serves everything I need for electronica, trance, hardstyle, jumpstyle, house, etc)
i think this is the best software to produce trance armin van buuren uses this program and sander van doorn aswell...i wish i had a mac so i can use it..
@subconscious13 I was going to suggest you rework the melody. Its pretty good already but it could benefit from a bit more diversion, branch off of it and play with it a bit more. Also I think more flowing atmospheric sounds wouldn't hurt. There is something abrupt about the ones you're using here, gnome sayin? You did a really nice job eq-ing no beef there.
@rcflite thanks for your feedback, I agree the whooshes and atmospherics could be improved. I'll have a play around with the main melody to add more interest, really appreciate your feedback, thanks !
@rcflite not yet, I plan to rework the track slightly and send the new mix to a few labels in the near future. This mix was a tester to get feedback here on YouTube, what do you think of the track?
@subconscious13 I like it man :) waiting to get logic myself :) still in garageband and have experience in fl studio but i like it :) any tips u could offer?
@VanellaMusic thanks! I wrote the track on an old version of Logic Platinum v5, I didn't have the licences for the soft synths in Logic (ES2 etc.) so I used my hardware synths for the sounds, Virus Indigo, Waldorf Q, Roland MKS80, Novation A Station, Yamaha EX5. I made the video using Logic Pro 8, the synth sounds have been bounced to audio.
you use an access virus indigo right? isn't that one discontinued? looking to buy some of the best synth sounds, but i can't afford the TI 2, the indigo has amazing sounds though
@peffleysirus yes, I do use an Indigo (V1), I love the sounds from the Virus B/C, the Indigo synths are discontinued. The T1 is awesome but expensive, the Virus B and C are available second hand, a few on eBay from time to time, they can produce some amazing sounds.
@InfinityProjectPromo so like more mastered the synth and i did not epically fail that interview just a simple interview really for when I was only starting to really get into music
very very great dude... I like trance and electronic music.... Can you give some suggestions to start stuff with Logic 9 express? about rhytm sections and synths..!
Nice work man! Keep it up! Great production skills you've got here! I've just finished one of my own tracks, I'd be happy if you'd give it a listen! Peace!!
@MrCommanderIglo lol im not the maker of this song. Im just saying how it isnt fl :D but i would prefer to use reason and logic. But i dont have a mac so i cant have logic D:
@LemonBoiLehclox Wtf do you actually think FL is better than logic? have you ever used logic? wow please dont comment when you dont know what youre talking about.
@nick20200 Actually I do use Logic and FL and Ableton and they all have there good and bad points but they're all professional software once you dedicate yourself to using them professionally. You're under the illusion that a program makes the producer because if you went you'd now that the rules of making music are universal and don't depend on one particular DAW.
@LemonBoiLehclox No i dont think that. Look if you explained yourself better i wouldnt have raged :D
Imo i agree with you, fl, ableton and logic do all have really good points, but i think Logic is much better as a piece of software. The mastering capabilites are so much better and if you know how to use logic, it is an extremely powerful piece of software.
I personally use a blend of Ableton, reason and sometimes fl but i dont use it a lot.
Really good track, one of the best on youtube i've seen, not tacky, but it's quite long though. you should do a shortened one. Check out my track on my page
could somebody please tell me how the fuck to stop youtube destroying the sound quality. i'm really beginning to get pissed off now. I've converted to flash, lowered the bit-rate. bla bla bla and still the sound and picture quality is shit.
sounds very similar to a track I know but I can't think of the name of it right now. only the last two chords in your lead arpeggio are different to it. still good work though.
How did you make these sounds? Is there any good tutorials for synth building in logic you can reccomend? I don't mean to be needy or pester you but I can't get the same quality out of reason I can with logic, and I know nothing of the synths in logic compared to reason.
I use Reason 4 primarily, but I have logic express. Do you recommend I upgrade to Pro? I mean.. I probably will anyways but if I can make this caliber music I wouldn't want to spend the money.
Subconcious, do you have some advice on how to start producing trance? how did you begin? I have the equipment but I feel very lost, and there is little help for a beginner out there. I almost feel like giving up since I dont know where to start. I dont feel like taking a course for hundreds of pounds that may give me NOTHING.
nice track! :D what did you use to record your sound from Virus into logic??? also why is the playhead glitching so much?

@astagfaar I've been producing for 7 years now and I have to say Logic is the best on the Mac, and FL Studio is the best on the PC. (My opinion) For hardware, I recommend getting a pair of studio reference monitors (speakers) and maybe a pair of headphones for private sessions. And a mic if you choose. a audio interface and if you wanted, a mixer for controlling the software. Thats up to you. The only bit of hardware I use is my midi keyboard and it's a beauty. :) I hope this helps :D
Yendolf 1 year ago
@Yendolf Yeah thanks. I'm just waiting to buy Logic Studio, I've got an Apple Mac Pro, and a midi keyboard (Novation Nocturn 25 or something) any good headphones you'd recommend? and what sort of mixer or audi interface would you recommend also. Thanks.
astagfaar 1 year ago
@astagfaar i honestly love my Sennheiser headphones. (HD 215) beautiful quality and they were only $75. My current keyboard has a mixer and sampler built in but prior to that I was using a Mackies controller. It was awesome but I don't think you want to dish out $1299 for hardware ;) I totally recommend the Korg NanoKontrol. It's small, compact, serves all the functions of a mixer and it's only $60. Also look into the Korg NanoPad. They are small and beautiful pieces of hardware. Great for ---
Yendolf 1 year ago
@astagfaar --- laptop users. :) my audio interface is the FireWire Solo Mobile Audio Interface. It's small, cheap, and is amazing. It serves everything I need for electronica, trance, hardstyle, jumpstyle, house, etc)
Yendolf 1 year ago
@astagfaar you can rewire reason into logic later on too? probs best to get what you can afford :D
paralelSun 1 year ago
@astagfaar I would suggest Logic 9 for composing and making the music, and mixing with Pro Tools.

@strongglory all sounds were from hardware. If you need advice on good VSTs, check out Sylenth1, Logic's ES2 is also very good.

Omg, I'm 15 we use this programme in GCSE Music, and the stuff you here ain't great.. But just imagine if someone had this... Incredible.
mavadoman 1 year ago
@subconscious13 I was going to suggest you rework the melody. Its pretty good already but it could benefit from a bit more diversion, branch off of it and play with it a bit more. Also I think more flowing atmospheric sounds wouldn't hurt. There is something abrupt about the ones you're using here, gnome sayin? You did a really nice job eq-ing no beef there.
rcflite 1 year ago
@rcflite thanks for your feedback, I agree the whooshes and atmospherics could be improved. I'll have a play around with the main melody to add more interest, really appreciate your feedback, thanks !
subconscious13 1 year ago
Did you get this track signed?
rcflite 1 year ago
@rcflite not yet, I plan to rework the track slightly and send the new mix to a few labels in the near future. This mix was a tester to get feedback here on YouTube, what do you think of the track?

@subconscious13 i personally think its sick :D

THIS IS AN AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!What equipment did you use? -a fellow DJ
VanellaMusic 1 year ago
@VanellaMusic thanks! I wrote the track on an old version of Logic Platinum v5, I didn't have the licences for the soft synths in Logic (ES2 etc.) so I used my hardware synths for the sounds, Virus Indigo, Waldorf Q, Roland MKS80, Novation A Station, Yamaha EX5. I made the video using Logic Pro 8, the synth sounds have been bounced to audio.
subconscious13 1 year ago
you use an access virus indigo right? isn't that one discontinued? looking to buy some of the best synth sounds, but i can't afford the TI 2, the indigo has amazing sounds though
peffleysirus 1 year ago
@peffleysirus yes, I do use an Indigo (V1), I love the sounds from the Virus B/C, the Indigo synths are discontinued. The T1 is awesome but expensive, the Virus B and C are available second hand, a few on eBay from time to time, they can produce some amazing sounds.
subconscious13 1 year ago
fl studio is better and u can get fl studio with a mac to which is 300 dollars cheaper than logic
DjPeaceDestroyer 1 year ago
@DjPeaceDestroyer
not true..
fl studio improve more and more but it's not so good as logic..
InfinityProjectPromo 1 year ago
@InfinityProjectPromo K i think both are great though still. What is really the difference from both softwares
DjPeaceDestroyer 1 year ago
@DjPeaceDestroyer
logic sounds more commercial & in fl studio u have to build the commercial sounds-->needs a lot of time but i think its better..
InfinityProjectPromo 1 year ago
@InfinityProjectPromo so like more mastered the synth and i did not epically fail that interview just a simple interview really for when I was only starting to really get into music

LemonBoiLehclox 1 year ago
@LemonBoiLehclox Wtf do you actually think FL is better than logic? have you ever used logic? wow please dont comment when you dont know what youre talking about.
nick20200 1 year ago
@nick20200 Actually I do use Logic and FL and Ableton and they all have there good and bad points but they're all professional software once you dedicate yourself to using them professionally. You're under the illusion that a program makes the producer because if you went you'd now that the rules of making music are universal and don't depend on one particular DAW.
LemonBoiLehclox 1 year ago
@LemonBoiLehclox No i dont think that. Look if you explained yourself better i wouldnt have raged :D
Imo i agree with you, fl, ableton and logic do all have really good points, but i think Logic is much better as a piece of software. The mastering capabilites are so much better and if you know how to use logic, it is an extremely powerful piece of software.
I personally use a blend of Ableton, reason and sometimes fl but i dont use it a lot.
Listened to ur tracks and they weren't bad :D

could somebody please tell me how the fuck to stop youtube destroying the sound quality. i'm really beginning to get pissed off now. I've converted to flash, lowered the bit-rate. bla bla bla and still the sound and picture quality is shit.
TheMarcPopeProject 1 year ago
sounds very similar to a track I know but I can't think of the name of it right now. only the last two chords in your lead arpeggio are different to it. still good work though.
TheMarcPopeProject 1 year ago
How did you make these sounds? Is there any good tutorials for synth building in logic you can reccomend? I don't mean to be needy or pester you but I can't get the same quality out of reason I can with logic, and I know nothing of the synths in logic compared to reason.
brewerdrummer 1 year ago
@brewerdrummer just do a search for Logic ES2, there are heaps of tutes for programming the ES2. It is one of the best synths for making Trance.
subconscious13 1 year ago
@brewerdrummer look for super saw if you want that typical trance sound
subconscious13 1 year ago
I use Reason 4 primarily, but I have logic express. Do you recommend I upgrade to Pro? I mean.. I probably will anyways but if I can make this caliber music I wouldn't want to spend the money.
brewerdrummer 1 year ago
@brewerdrummer I would use Logic express, you should be able to make quality music with it. You can always upgrade to Pro later if you want.
subconscious13 1 year ago
Just started using logic to make trance, its so confusing haha. Props man, sounds great.
TheDBelanger 1 year ago
@TheDBelanger -thanks man! there are heaps are great tutes on YouTube to help you get up that steep learning curve, be patient and you'll get there.
