I love this sculpture although I can't really say why. It's a 'feeling' thing. The visual impact is pleasing, too, but there is a sense of so much more. Hope this makes sense!
Hi. I love the concept of the art and it is indeed a very interesting work. But as a person whom has a deep passion for the Suffolk Coastal area, I cannot help feeling it is an incongruity within its setting. I am sorry that it was vandalised and oddly enough, I feel it had more to do with the anger many of the locals felt at the artwork being erected there, on the beach. I don't feel it had anything to do with 'kids'. It was more like a local's idea of a 'V' sign.
That's very kind,Chris-thanks.She'd have to be hurt by the vandalism if some wanker chucks white paint all over a piece she's put her heart and soul into.I bet whoever does this wouldn't feel quite so comfortable inflicting similar damage on a car or property.I caught the ONE show via BBC iPlayer.Interesting-could have done without the 'is it a hit or a miss' thumbs up/down bit in the studio.Meant to say in last msg-nice to see Lux given a bigger part, she's too glam to be an extra! Take care
Good of course! It's a fantastic, uplifting sculpture in the perfect setting. I'm baffled by its critics and angered and saddened by those who take it further with vandalism. I went to a talk MH gave in Cheltenham a couple of years ago where she made a joke about the lack of imagination in the graffiti. Funny at the time but, seeing the damage in your film, it's anything but funny. One can only assume the perpetrator's head is filled with wet mud. Becky
She is a great person and it hurts her. Thank you for you comments. Maggi is always happy to see them too. She does not use computers and is always inpressed with the tecnology. I will keep making films. Thank you for watching. Chris Newson. I've sent you a friend link to all the scallop films and there is loads of free films and photo on my website. makespacefilmcompany . com follow free film and photo links. Many thanks.
I'm kicking myself because when I saw this on You Tube I assumed the feature on the ONE Show had already gone out. It's not a show I trouble myself with and I've realised it was shown last night and I missed it! I half expected to read that 'Stormchaser Maggi' had been swept out to sea yesterday but thankfully it looks as if she didn't get too close. Keep making these films!
Nice video and narration/voice-over.
