there is no gyro in a wii remote
only an accelerometer - which detects motion in a direction
to do a full 360 flip or a yaw movement you need a sensor bar
I see he holds the sensor bar in the video

how did you manage to get the radian flip over when you turn it upside down so smooth?

I think it operates via the gyro sensor inside, which tells the wii what angle the remote is sitting at in space. The sensor for the television only picks up how far the wii is, and where it is, not the angles of it.
