Hey man how did they die was it a firefighting incident...any tips on how to become an airforce firefighter. I'm 15 and really want to be a firefighter in the air force. thanks
im gonna go ahead and call BULLFUCKING SHIT on this video!!! really good pictures but you should probally change the "out of everyone in that class, only 5 are still alive today. RIP' PART BECAUSE its not true!!! there have been thousands of my brothers that have lost thier lives in the line of duty and by that statement alone you are totally disrespecting them.. i was in the class and have ran into at least 7 of the guys that were in our class...soooooo??
I'm a retired Air Force fire fighter. Taught at Goodfellow for 5 Years... Wrote course material, Worked for the Wing Commander, designed the Wild Land Fire Trainer... No Bullshit... The death rate of military firefighters is just not that high... I call... Show me your hand... Give me the names of my brothers who died in the line of duty... The video is awesome, but...
i always hear that people dont want firefighting and get it but when i went to sign up for it they were like its hard to get? I have even taken fire science courses? done most of the training already as a civilian
Great Vid man. I'm actually in the process of joining the air force and I'm still concerned about what career to pursuit. I really want to become a FF, I have a bunch of questions if anybody can help me out I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
@JFeliciano71 what kind of questions? Im currently in the af as a firefighter at pope afb in NC. You wont fight a lot of fire. I know alot of people that have been in for 10 plus years and never seen fire.
@RenegadeJrUSAF Well I scored high enough to get any job I want but aiming to be a ff, how did you get it as a career field? How would you describe the technical training? I'm basically aiming to be able to have it as a career when I come back to civilian life so I could continue my education while having a good enough job to get me by. Thanks
im curreltly a civilian firefighter, id join the usaf as a fire fighter in a heartbeat but i dont like the whole 1 of 5 jobs thing. Im thinking about going pararescue.
i' m leaving for AF BMT on Feb 23--then off to fire school. I got certified for fire I, II, HAZMAT awareness and Ops in college, and I worked as a wildland firefighter but I can't wait to go through the DoD fire academy.
Anyway, I'd love to hear anything from anyone in the AF about their fire jobs--message me.
im shippin out for basic march 23 and then goodfellow for my tch school.. i wanted to b security forces it was my first choice but my recruiter gave me firefighting but it doesnt look half bad
arlight man i appreciate it. i am lookin forward to it. that was my 2nd choice. thanks.. any advice from someone who has experience? like can u get deployed a lot?
depends on what base you go to and what cycle you're on. if you were in security forces you would probably deploy a lot. i'm almost finished with my term and i haven't been deployed once. i'm supposed to deploy 2 months prior to separating but i'm not going to extend my time in and go back home.
yeah im a usaf firefighter, been in for 1 year 3 months, still havent deployed. i wish the airforce deployed more often, for i wanted to go. but i wont be re enlisting after this 4year term is up
hey man i appreciate ur advice.. i have a few more questions and i just wanna get someones advice who has experience in it.. can u request ur first duty station or do they send u where they want u? cuz ive heard of the dream sheet and u can put like 8 overseas and 8 stateside.. i would like to b stationed somewhere in florida close to my fam???
you can request it on your dream sheet, but it's always about where they need you. i put 3 stateside bases in and near california, and everything else overseas but still got stuck in Mississippi.
im am currently a dod FF. i went through both civilian and government fire training. so ive seen "actual burns" as you call it. both have advantages/disadvantages. i prefer smoke and carbon because it simulates class a fires well. but lpg is much hotter, and it allows you to visually see proper extinguishing techniques. also for safety purposes it is much better. (it can be shut off asap). we do plenty of wood-hay- pallat burns at our first duty stations. trust me we know fire behavior.
I was not going to comment on your reply because most of what you wrote is just opinion (lpg vs class A burns)....But I will say at the age of 21, you do NOT know fire behavior yet. I hope you do not bring this sort of cockiness to the fire station as it can be a very dangerous attitude.
wow what a joke. as if you know me, and my experiences. i didnt tell you what you knew/didnt know, so dont try to pull that on me. cockiness? because i said i knew fire behavior? after years of classes in fire science and applying my learned skills to many scenarios? firefighting requires an attitude of being a top dog. youre a firefighter for gods sake.
@station2bites i was a military firefighter and now i am dod and at my base we have a live fire and a flash over trainer the only thing we use LPG for is the C-130 trainer
I'm stoked! I leave for basic Jan.19th and I am going in as Firefighter, should be pretty simple, I have been a career firefighter in Jacksonville Florida for 3 years now and I am stationed at the 4th busiest station. Can't wait though, I am excited to get training from such a place, I hear it's the best and this is the job I love.
I wouldnt mention any of that while at the academy. Trust me, there is nothing those instructors hate more than someone who says they already know what the instructors are trying to teach. Dont be that guy.
I Have Been On A Volunteer Dept For 2 Years Now And I Been Thinking About Joining The Air Force To Be A Firefighter... I Have A Few Questions If Someone Could Help Me out Id Greatly Appreciate it.. thanks
How much harder is this training than Marine Corps Boot Camp, I'm 17, When I graduated I was planning on joining the marine corps, but I wanted a future being a firefighter, I'm not the smartest person out there but I'm not the most dumb either. I was wondering what it takes to complete this training and the physical requirements also. Any help would be appreciated.
you can be a marine aircraft firefighter. they go through the same fire academy as the usaf and every other branch. the af hosts the school for everyone. from what i hear, usmc boot camp just requires perserverance
you don't need it. they put you through the academy and you get on the job training at your base. no need for any other training unless you want to skip a few weeks of the academy.
Wonderful video, so sorry only 5 are still alive out of that class. So sad, unbelievable. When you see them that young you just think they will live forever. Sorry for your losses. Take care.
I have everything to work fulltime except my paramedic certificate so will i have to do everything over if i join usaf firefighting? also do ff get deployed usually? is wildland firefighting an option in the usaf ?
I take it you aren't a firefighter. I have ran into so many firefighters that are stationed with friends of mine. For example, we just got a new SSgt from England and he was stationed there with 2 guys I was stationed with in Alaska over 2 years ago. Maybe you have never been deployed either, I was deployed last year with 2 guys I went to the academy with back in 05!
um... obviously i am a fire fighter if i posted this video up. kevin john smith and park are a few of the most common names in the united states. wow. how dumb can u be. how did u finish high school? are u even taking college classes? and i don't care about what u think or who your "boy" is. ur annoying.
Well, I was drunk when I wrote that. Sorry. Yeah, they are common names, but how common is it that there are more than one Kevin Parks and one John Smith at FE Warren? Douche. I also find it funny that you ask if I finished high school, obviously, because I joined the military and another reason, who is the one using grammar such as "ur" and "u" like some fucking sixth grader does? ok... I asked "HOW" did YOU finish high school. I wasn't asking "IF" YOU finished high school. Why don't YOU read a little more into what I was writing before YOU make YOURSELF look even more stupid. Oh, and YOU didn't answer my question if YOU'RE taking any college classes.... I guess YOU'RE not. way to go on bettering YOURSELF.
Ok there guy, I sincerely hope you are taking college classes and "bettering" yourself because judging by the way you write, you need all the help you can get. I don't know about you but I learned back in elementary, and to top it off, I had my memory refreshed in a COLLEGE class I took. I hope that answers your question.
Well I'm glad you took A college class. I hope u will start taking more "big boy" classes and learn something new instead of taking elementary refresher classes. And thank you for all of your sincerity. I am going to college and "bettering" myself. I'm making sure I'm not wasting my life doing nothing but getting drunk and posting youtube comments.
HAHA, do you think English is the only college course available or something? I hope you aren't wasting to much of the governments money taking your classes, it doesn't seem like they are doing much godd. Youtube is awesome so I get on it even while I am not drinking if you can believe that. You have been replying to my comments for the last couple of days, so does that count as wasting your life? Anyway, I will drop this whole thing, you can reply back or not, your choice. I just won't reply.
really? Your reply made no sense at all. First of all, I never said anything in my last comment about English being the only class available in college. Second, "godd"?!?!?! Honestly, if you're going to try to call someone stupid, at least spell check. And I guess I AM putting the governments money to good use since I've been constantly correcting you.
I have been a military firefighter since Mayb05. When In joined I basically told my recruiter that I wouldnt join if I didnt get firefighter guaranteed and he worked hard for me and I was lucky enough to get it. I am in the air force and it is great, being a firefighter in the air force is like being in a totolly different branch, we do our own thing pretty much.
@Jaynizzlebizzel as a military firefighter, do you do any types of search and rescue or water rescue training? and also is there any medical training involved?
don't be saying that, all branches go through the same academy. in my class 2 out of the 3 marines failed out due to physical objective failure, all air force passed.
dont be an ass hole. We all go through the same basic training with the same basic bullshit. We are all part of the bigger picture anyways, so stop the favortism
