  • Woop!! Go Helen Zille!! :)

  • Woop! Go Helen Zille!! :)

  • Great for Zille taking a public stand, but to be honest I did not see much of Cape Town taking part...Cape Town City Council should have played their part in switching off street lights!!!

  • GOOO ZILLE!!!!

  • Even with the lights off Helen's light will shine! And what a great cause. So glad Earth Hour has come to Cape Town.

  • Helen Zille Rocks! We will definitely be turning off all lights and appliances during earth hour!

  • Not convinced - Scientific evidence is scanty. I support reducing emmissions only on the basis of improving the quality of air we breath in urban areas of the world but thinking we can alter the course of climate fluctuations (which have been going on for billions of years anyway - main cause is our Sun's varying activity) is like standing off the coast of florida, USA, with arms outstretched thinking you can stop of flow of the Gulf Stream.

  • But... I need to run my server and pc and xbox and microwave and tumble drier all at the same time... How will I survive one WHOLE hour??

  • THET IS VERY NICE AND VERY GOD

  • Helen Zille, the leader of the official oppostion and mayor of the DA-led Cape Town has been the only municipality in South Africa to invest in sustainable energy by signing a 20 year contract to use electricity from the only wind farm in South Africa. The DA-led Cape Town is also the only city in South Africa with a recycling program in place.

  • awesome. I think more awareness needs to be raised, no one cares still. it's fine to make a great ad and throw it online and broadcast it, but does the average joe really understand whats going on? he's the guy that needs to be reached to make the difference.

  • Excellent! Cape Town needs to go green all the way, not just on special occasions, but it all counts I gues

  • Well done Helen Zille! Again you outshine the other cities in South Africa by supporting an international initiative!
