An interesting point that people haven't noticed is that McGuire's toes were at least level if not in front of the ball, when he kicked it through for the try. Therefore whether you are offside if you are in front of the ball or the kicker's kicking foot is irrelevant in this case.

Because smith is leaning into the play, and mcguire's foot which kicks the ball is infront of him, behind the saints player it looks offside.

Theres no doubt that smiths body is in front of mgcuire. Theres no doubt smiths feet are in front of mcguire.

As soon as leeds got level I felt there would only be one winner. Leeds have developed a defensive strategy which is able to absorb saints early pressure, then turn the screw with some big men off the bench. In other words they've developed a knack of WINNING the big one. It's a knack saints used to have (especially against bradford) but have lost since leeds came to the fore.

look up the definition of offside from a kick on wikipedia - the foot that is contact with the ground must be behind/or level with THE BALL not the kickers foot
