  • ..It would have been great if a stranger bought the violin and keept it as small trophy..as about my gipsy compatriot should have played a clasic violin.. maybe he managed to pickup 30 eur/day.Bad image for RO people....excuse my not very good english for grammar.Greetings worldwide ....

  • Wow...cool dude.....btw....here's some nice busker competition....a lot of cool buskers there ... enjoy =) randrworld[dot]com/buskers-competition.php

  • it sounds like a violin played through a 1920 gramophone.

  • He's a good violinist, but wow does that horn irritate me! A regular violin sounds much better.

  • @giggleblaggle An electric violin sounds the absolute best.

  • @giggleblaggle when this particular design was made.. at the time it was needed

good chance.. most if any old recordings you heard with a violin in it.. used this one.. back then the recording devices weren't as good and they couldn't pick up the violin.. so someone came up with this variation of it

  • What a cool instrument. The brass bell gives the resonance a somewhat distant sound.

  • That guy bears a scary resemblance to me, when I showed some friends this they thought it was me (it's definetly not, I've never even been to belgium). If I may quote the Spoony One "Skrull! Skrull! I've been secretly invaded!"

  • Also known as a 'phono-fiddle'

  • LOL!

  • My god that thing is silly looking. If I ever start playing the violin, I need a stroh.

  • what's the name of the tune he playes after under paris skies?

  • the second tune is a tango called "el choclo"

  • Good people, where can I get such horn? I'd like to build similiar instrument.

  • is that the horn is installed instead of the soundhole?

  • Yes. And instead of soundbox.

  • Awesome.

    I like that instrument.

It sounds like he starts with a variation of Edith Piaf's "Sous le Ciel de Paris"

    ( cf. youtube [DOT] com/watch?v=b255tOFKD7A)

...But I wonder what the second part is...

  • aha never seen anythin like that. pretty cool!

  • Honestly, it's not original Stroh Violin. It's Rumunian horn violin but it's desing is based on Stoh's one. Check "Stroh violin" on wikipedia.

  • Hope you tipped the guy...
