@lupischuckle Well today there isn't much use... it was however developed under ww2... some french guy had to run away from the SS or something, I can't remember exactly... but yeah, he developed Parkour as a means of transportation, because he can go over buildings, and cars can't :P It's just a hobby, though for some a lifestyle...

I for instance can say I don't see the point of many other sports... running around kicking a ball? ;) Same concept, it's something to pass time with

It's a method of getting through urban areas as fast and efficiently as possible. Freerunning has made it into more of a sport with the flips and unnecessary stunts mixed in, but pure, basic parkour is about getting around as fast as possible on foot.

surely you don't actually think these "races" are shot in one take and are real.....the car would crush anyone running, unless it was in a urban city and the goal was only a mile away.....I don't care what you think, but james said it was six miles for him, so probably about 4 miles for the free runners.....sprinting four miles on a good day would take 26 minutes for the fastest runners, let alone with obstacles in your way...there is not way 6 miles driving could take that long...it's a show

For one, they'd need 100 cameras, and 100 men to man them around the city at one time, which Top Gear wouldn't have, the BBC would never give them the funding for something like that. For another thing, how do you think they got on top of the building in that amount of time? They didn't. I love Parkour and Illabaca, and Top Gear for that matter, but this was simply not done in one continuous shot.

I knew Captain Slow would have had a hard time of it, but I was really impressed by their actually posing atop the building to make sure he noticed them before driving off.

The review of the car (yes, I did take notice of that) was also very well done for the urban driver.

God knows Richard's stuff is on the excitement and Our Host's is sheer bloody power (on the scale of Tool Time), but for people driving in the real world? James May. (Don't even ask what the Stig's is all about!!)
