  • nevertheless, it's a good tip, never forget to tune, sometimes concert masters might forget so you'd need to remind them.

  • Well, actually, the conductor doesn't tune the orchestra, not during a performance anyway. It is done once everyone is settled in and before the conductor walks in. When everyone is ready and in their seats the concert master stands up, in which moment everyone else turns silent and he/she plays the A. First violins start playing it and tuning it, then slowly moves trough second to the lower strings.

    At least where i come from it's done like that.
