  • who is the guy at 2:06 ???

  • in Hong Kong there are many parkour practitioner. But most of them train parkour for showing off, making money....Only few of them know how to have right attitude of parkour.Unfortunately, the official parkour association in HK(HKPA) is the largest parkour oganization, and its founder is likely to use Parkour to make money....

    World,save us.....

  • Imagine David, Seb, yamakasi, PKGEN,WFPF, all together for a world gathering.

  • WOW! this is Great!!!

  • its parkour and free runing the same? because people always put parkour when its free running and everybody says that they are the same

  • @parkourfreeruning3

Don't bother about the names, if you have good spirit and do good stuff, dont worry about the names its just names.

  • @parkourfreeruning3 By definition I think free running is getting from point A to point B in the most creative way possible whiel parkous is getting from A to B in the most efficient way possible.

  • dude every time i try parkour it comes from the heart

  • was this recorded in 720i rather than p? it seems different to most videos

  • cool

  • WTF why do they feel the need to caption everything he says ? His English is perfectly fine.

  • that was in '05 hehe.

  • This guy is so hot, he was so hot in the 'jump london' doco. i've liked french boys ever since! :D

  • When I train with my mates, I find that when they can do something and I can't, I push myself further so I can catch up.

This worries me, as I am quite an outspoken advocate of the pure philosophies of parkour, essentially that it shouldn't be competitive.

I initially got into parkour to test and explore myself, and to teach myself to push my own boundaries. But I occasionally feel the urge to impress.

  • @Archigearour when you start to feel a strange a marvellous sensation of being connected with your surrounding and you are doing just the necessary movements to get where you want without wasting valuable energy then I think the outer influence that people exert on you is not so big. My self I try to think on what an animal would feel, they don't go around trying to impress anyone they just are, exist, they nature is being free, to me that is the most rewarding experience that the discipline has

  • Well what it comes down to is greed, movies need stuntmen/women that have less risk and therefore cheaper insurance. Also being able to do the movements does have that 'cool' appeal that people are using to feel accepted.

Parkour is and always shall be a melding of the body and mind into a perfect instrument of motion and focus. Life in modern society is stop and go, where, when you practice parkour, its fluid and everlasting. it is the embodiment of what life is supposed to be.

  • Parkour generations owns any other pk group

  • I think, like Staphane said, at the beginning there was one discipling, it would be good if Parkour and Freerun cam back to one discipline, and the old group got back together

  • first good recounting of the history i've heard

  • I'm with you bro... Every step of the way! =)

I am very grateful to the original parkour practitioners from Yamakasi for all their hard work. You (Yamakasi) have carved the path for us and for that I am truly thankful. RESPECT! ^_^

  • I think that if someone wants to stray away from pure parkour, then that is his/her choice. It is perfectly fine for that person to express themselves outside the definition of pure parkour, just as long as they don't bring down everyone else. Thank goodness that for the most part, the majority of traceurs have matured enough to have gotten over the freerun/parkour debate. We traceurs have come to realize that it is the individual who is most important, not his/her affiliations.

  • Yes,the media has the wrong idea of what parkour is.

I will go to push my physical to the limit.

  • very good

    but... Yamikaze???

  • Das errinnert einen doch wieder daran warum man Parkour überhaupt macht oder?

  • I feel so sorry for Yamakasi that have been working and training so, so hard and then people ruin (yes, RUIN) the dicipline with competition. They created all this....

but I feel good for you guys that actually stick to parkours orgins and share & help each other

  • stephen was in urban free flow before he joint this class and dan and forest aswell then he relised what they do is compition and dont spread the art this is y he joint this school the yamakasi never go to other school in uk other thn pkgen cuss like 3run or urban free flow thy do compititon they relise this parkour is grown and atleast let it grow in the right way thts y yamaksi come every year to tell people about pk glad thy dnt go to other compition places like 3run and ufeeflow

  • 3run dont compete they refuse to...

  • oh ya look at world chmpionship i dnt knw if thy init but still thy dnt use parkour they use alot of flips and use 3run as media pk gen is the top 1 thts y he joint in

  • kl kl.....just saying they avoided that "world champ" stuff like crazy.

  • i ddnt knew that my bad

  • To be honest I hold a lot of respect for 3Run, even though they're commercial. Despite their successes, they still still show a really humble, down to earth attitude. Yes, they don't do parkour most of the time, and they know that. They've made a pure parkour video a while back, which was very well done, so they know the difference, they just prefer to express themselves in a different way.

  • i agree .. ur an idiot if some offers a job cause you have qualities and you deny but 3run is still very family oriented and arnt franchised.

  • 3run doesnt compete.

  • oh my bad i ddnt knew that but they are free runners alot of style they dont use it for discplin if u look at their video comparing to pk gen its differnt 3run looks show off even though i like them thy cool but dnt mind me thts wt i thnk lol

  • not at all i see what you mean too, yet they still famlly oriented

  • i hate you for changing free with 3.. they dont even sound the same

  • Great Interview :)

  • this is sik

  • Well said Stephane, agreed.

  • Very well said!

and where is that where everyone is training??

  • thts vauxall in london peace :)

  • This was a great video/interview, I'm really glad I came across it. I've always enjoyed watching Stephane's movement as well as listening to his philosophy and recollect of parkours origins. I hope this circulates well through the parkour community.

  • How old is he now i see grey hairs? lol

  • Did Vigroux et al. ever contact David Belle concerning the Parkour Generations project?

I'm curious to know why it seems that Belle has never been involved with such projects following the dissolution of La Releve.

  • Comment removed

  • about the competition these days i realised that you can't be better than someone at getting to a certain point when everyone follows their own way and does their own style I do Parkour because it shows me a different point of view so what about you?

  • there should me more people like you, stephan & all who understand real parkour and what it takes. peace.

  • very good parkours new let it grow the right way!!

  • I agree... 3run world championships just makes everyone think it's a competition and hides the fact of the true nature of parkour and 3running...

  • please do not refer to it as 'The 3run word championships' or '3running' that makes it seem like 3run held the event, but they had nothing to do with the event. They didn't even participate in the event. Stop making them look bad, type freerunning out in full...

  • your bun

  • Love it, organisations such and BPCA and the PKG its so important that they are there to help progress the discipline effectivly and SAFELY

  • Urban Freeflow do parkour for money...

World Freerun Championship = Bull Shit...

No competition in parkour ... We are same learn,share,help...

  • Hear hear! Competition in Parkour RUINS EVERYTHING! And yes, it's stupid why anyone would want to compete when there isn't even a real yardstick to measure each and every traceur/traceuses' abilities. Commercialism!

  • if there is ever a parkour competition i will commit suiside

  • @lim1819 I agree, we should be against competition. But man did you see the WFC? It was more like a fucking breakdance competition. UF are essentially out of the picture now.

  • @lim1819 I always thought the same. But the competition is mostly a get together where everyone has fun and no one cares who wins. There is just a great relationship between all of the guys and just express what they love to do. Only dif. is a winner is chosen though nobody really cares.

  • @LOTRFreak993

Like Stephane said, It's the ego that's the major problem with competition. Because competition is competition, even if it's fun and not taken serious. You'll feel very good about yourself if you win a competition, and you feel good about yourself showing off infront of the cameras and the people. I believe everyone feel like this. I mean who HAVENT done a move in order to impress someone? I have. Alot of people have. But I don't do it anymore because I realized It's a weakness.

  • @BlacksVideos Agreed

  • @lim1819 Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion. : )

  • this interview is brilliant,it can help to solve a lot of problems, also a great answer to many questions, that disturb the mind of a parkour practicioner...

  • amazing well said stephane

  • very mature for someone so young,

"we all want to be good men in our life."

  • dude, i´m not saying this as a parkour fan... i say this because i deeply feel it:

watching stephane talk like this makes me feel like everyone in the world should think that way.... The actual way that parkour is taking, and the world itself, would be much better. RESPECT.

  • Excelent! I think that is a video that everyone that is on Parkour or Free Running must see. As Stephane says - "there is no differences between both, they are the same but with another name. Also he answers one thing that I wanted to know a long time ago - Stephane's point of view of the World Free Run Championship. I think that is really wise his comment about that, and that is nothing personal to the Urban Free Flow. He is just making a point that it is not good for a discipline like ours.

  • amazing! thanks man, i´ll post it in our website for more people to see it. =)

  • awesome.

  • Agreed.

It should be all about the spirit of the art.

  • Great!, I apreciate your point of view!

  • I love these guys. Generations, keep up the good work spread the word.

I love their ideals, and 2 years from now, you will be seeing me at one of your ADAPT exams (fingers crossed)

  • Amen!

  • So true. So wise.

  • I still wonder what David is up to? I personally think that he should be talking about parkour to the people more.. Well, he did the trip to N.Y, Germany and so on, but It seems (for me) that Stephane are doing a lot more of the hard work.

  • David does his own thing, and I think it really hinders the community to make him into some sort of celebrity.

  • But dude.... he's just SO FREAKIN' GOOD!

...or at least he was back in the day...

It seems that PK Gens. and DB's little projects (NY, Berlin expos) are both working towards the similar ends, with similar values, attitudes, etc ....so as long as they're both working towards the same goal, I don't see where there would be any problems...

  • Yeah but David Belle Isn't parkour. We can look to him for inspiration and with respect, but I think it should end there.

I don't even remember what I was arguing about in my previous posts. Just something about David Belle hahaha.

  • realy realy amazing interview!!! I've always admired Stephan. It's very good, he explain many things that was always questioned by traceurs from all around the world. I think he could make things more clear for all of us.

    VEERY NIIIIIICEE!!! THANK YOU STEPHAN!!!

  • stephane is cool :)

  • ....

the world championship ?? i personaly do not agree, parkour is against competitions, may be as stephane said, a world international gathering, this would be the best event ever, thats what i am looking for,in assistance with the Moroccan federation of urban soprts/cultures, we would like to help people knowing alot about this sport and to correct the misunderstanding opinions and thoughts about this sport, this holy sport i consider :)

    P£@C£

  • excellent excellent interview, its the best interview i ever watched,,so many thanks to you for sharing,,it really brithened many thoughts in mind and i totally agree with what stephane says, its awfuly whats happening , parkour or ADD is so close to the media, and people been folowing their ego to commercialize Parkour and promote Parkour competitions.because most traceurs are blinded by these tricks,,,

  • Thanks Craig and Stephane. Thanks for making it clear about Parkour origins.. what it is and wwhat it's not.

  • well said.

  • Thank you Stephane for actually answering questions about things like competition without sidetracking and trying to talk your way out of it. This was a very good, inspiring interview and Craig, thanks for taking it off of private! Much love from New York

    -Max

  • Start to walk. Start to run.

  • It anoys me how Parkour is described as a sport. In any sport you train to compete i.e. The world cup, The Olypics etc. It should realy be described as a discipline only. Or a way of life.

  • Hill walking is classed as a sport :L

but its still non competitive :P

  • Stephane is a great inspiration. Thanks for this!!

  • Merci Stephane.!!!

since 5 years ago you had INSPIRED ME to be a good traceur and focus into the real parkour!!!

    Être et durer!!!

  • Excellent video, huge respect for Stephane and all the founders, I wish this video was made alot earlier!

  • Outstanding

  • Its sad to see the discipline become victim to profit incentive.

Competition will ruin it, instead why cant we have a giant international Jam and just give it good media coverage of the fun and training and the message of self improvement?

Move it every year kind of like the Olympics?

  • Try to see the evolution of Parkour with a larger lens. All is happening just as it should be and when the dust settles, in time, you will always have what you carry of Parkour within. It is comparable to how I feel of meditation and the calm center I take with me everywhere and can access when ever I desire....

  • another thing i want people to know is i wanna get paid to perform this sport or art not because i want a bunch of money, but because i want to do the thing i love all day every day. i just love parkour freerunning and i cant help but want to get paid for it. im not corrupted and im not greedy. i just want to do what i love and help spread it through the world anyway i can. its peace... parkour freerunning. the advice i follow no matter what is dont do it unless you loveit, forget about amount$

  • i like to hear him speak because he never speaks negatively about this sport. the argument going on through freerunners/traceurs and people who dont do parkour freerunning needs to be ended by these men, stephane vigroux, sebstien foucan, david belle, people who just love the sport. whether or not people like seeing you do it, or care if you do it or pay you if you do it, its always going to be parkour freerunning. the originals like seb david and stephane dont argue about it so why should we.

  • wow this is awesome! glad I watched it.

  • Nothing is worth doing unless it is done well. I think Stephane expressed that sentiment well. There are many young people that do not understand the concept of hard work.. Not showing up on time for a job or completing a project in a professional and timely way etc... These are basic things that life requires of anyone and if your parents didn't teach you, you need to get it somewhere... Namaste

  • god this is so true everyone who wants to start parkour should rally think abot what he says and should get it deeply into his mind he rally found words for what so many people try to say alle the time great vid thx

  • Yes, 100 times yes. Great video. Finally putting into words what this great discipline is all about. Thank you for this!

  • This is the stuff i like to see,

Hopefully anyone thats interested in parkour will see this and understand it, rather than watching all the other top parkour videos on youtube with the death defying stunts in them.

Too many get the wrong impression from those.

  • Also, will there be a downloadable version?

  • Craig, thank you. This has been one of the best interviews since UFF's vol.3.

  • 100% agree. Everything included in one interview, so I can send it to every (more or less experienced) practicioner to help understand the principles. BIG respect Craig and Stephane!

  • thanks for uploading this!

  • I think its interesting how in this video he says he and all the founders are against competition, but in the U$F 3 documentary he says he supports competition....I really hope this documentary represents his true feelings though.

  • very inspiring, Well done !!

  • genuis!

  • Liked it very much, inspiring stuff.

  • very good Video.

    I Like it very much

  • Word

  • It´s YAMAKASI !!! not Yamakase

  • Whoops, sorry for the typo.

  • stephan is right

  • At 3:45 Stephane was really pushing himself.. That was very inspiring, he shows that he he does it from the heart!

  • It is, but it's also kinda surprising that Stephane can't do a muscle up. Especially with how fast that climb up was at 6:43.

  • I was worried about the section you're referring to, b/c it can be a bit misleading. You should know that that was the last muscle up of a series of many, and he mad done many more intense work outs prior to it. The point was he told himself he was going to a certain number, and he did what he had to to make sure he did all of them.

  • it probably wasn't his first ;)

  • i think he probably does it so "slow" and hard to show his "pupils" that they shall not give up no matter how hard it is

  • I think we're supposed to understand that he's set himself a challenge of a certain amount of reps getting from hanging to bar at the waist, and what we are seeing is the end, where he is now too fatigued to do a muscle up.

  • Hey man, really nice job. Fantastic video :)

  • cool

  • nice job

  • Nice job Craig!

  • Very fu***ng true... Thanks for uploading the Interview Pentak4!!

Really inspirating the words of this man, hope many begginers see this video, lot of things that have to understand and make your own way on A.D.D. or Parkour or Freerunning or Movement...it's the same
