  • Happy Birthday Dennis Wilson (December 4th)

  • @ 1:29 Mike Love sings ( I feel the break up) WTF?

  • This is a GREAT video! I am a huge BB fan and I just love it. You've done an excellent job. Thanks for making and posting. Good vibes to all.

  • MrTomax--great job in presenting these rare videos!

  • Gosh are they outside Selfridges and Barratts shoe shop ??

  • Fuck you

  • It doesn't get any better than thsi! Sloop John B forever!

  • MARILYN WAS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO BRIAN.

  • @Desiree50 Nice to finally meet someone who like me is Team Marilyn

  • @coolsweetgroovy Hi there my friend.I think Melinda married Brian for his money and adopted 4 kids to be finanialy secure.she was a car sales person before and they met through Landy.I watched them on Larry King and Brian said something in Marilyns defense, well Melinda got so upset and it showed onTV.Marilyn made a remark not to long ago saying that he should not be pushed to leave him alone.I think Brian wants to retire but the bitch is pushing him to do concerts and make commitments.

  • @coolsweetgroovy this is the time when Brian should be making it up to his blood children and grandkids.i heard a long time ago Mariyns and Brians divorce settlement was a generous one because he married her when she was 16 and took away alot of years.this must kill Melinda.they dont like each other.Melinda just wants to be a part of rock and roll adopt 4 kids at her old age and be Brians manager.i could go on and on.hope to hear from you with any info you may have.peace Desiree

  • @coolsweetgroovy PS i think Marilyn is such a wonderful woman.I never met her but i can tell by the interviews shes given.she may have had hard times with Brian but she never once spoke bad about him.I also think her daughters Carnie and Wendy are good people down to earth, who deserve alot more of there father.Brian knows he made a mistake when they were growing up and i think he wants more time with his daughters but someone is holding him back.its called manipulation.Peace Des

  • @Desiree50 I agree with you 100% with your comments

  • Always has been and will be Americas answer to the Beatles..Happy 50th Anniversary to the Beach Boys

  • It's fun to watch them in concert...especially Carl and Dennis :)

  • so much bbetter

  • i feel so break up?

  • @formbymaniac Yeah, that's the original lyric---"I'm so break up." That's the original lyric---that's how Kingston Trio sang it (Johnny Cash sang "homesick: in his version." Brian changed it to "broke up." He also changed "this is the worst trip since I've been born" to "...I've ever been on."

  • @formbymaniac feel so break up probably dates back to the original version in the eighteen hundreds

  • I love the way the song doesn't get in your way and keeps saying

"Let me Go Home." The song doesn't demand or want anything from you. Its not standing in your way trying to pursuade you of anything. Great Song.

  • this is so stupid

  • Thanks for da post..i lov it !!!!

  • beforfe i go to sleep

  • Isn't that Dennis singing the third verse ?

  • I'd have to agree about the comments on Carl Wilson. Although, I'm sure the enormous ego on Mike Love would have him contradict this statement. It was clear he thought of himself as the leader, and did a lot of the yammering on stage over the years. I always found him to be obnoxious, overbearing, and a pompous ass.

Checking out 'Behind the Sounds' and it's just amazing watching the entire recording process. Brian was and is a total genius!

  • Yep,I think Brian is the best pop/rock composer of all time just shading McCartney, Lennon ,MJ , Elton and the guys from Abba

  • I'd add the Bee Gees to your list.

  • @arhuxtable - quite right

  • IndoeLoop is right... every one of the vids in the "Behind the Sounds" is absolutely brilliant.

It really shows you how much went into Pet Sounds and why it is regarded as the landmark album it should be. Amazing.

Brian was a musical pioneer in the truest sense of the word.... orchestrating genius pop compositions!!

  • @IndoeLoop Like I always say, "Mike Love is lucky to have the Wilson brothers. he added nothing to the band but a tambourine, plus he is a total dick!"

  • @TheEZRock1

Yea I guess all of his vocal contributions count for nothing...

  • yea

  • Everyone who ever listened to the Beach Boys know how great their musci was and how much it influenced those that followed. While a lot of credit if given to Brain Wilson & Mike Love, most don't know that it was Carl Wilson who kept the group together during the tuff years when Brian no longer toured with the band and stayed in his bedroom for years. Without Carl Wilson the Beach Boys fame may have been a passing fad. Carl was a great singer which is shown in this video.

  • @orengamblesr Yes. and, when I saw the Beach Boys in Concert 1986, Carl sounded incredible. So, eventually, he became the most important member, by far. And, his contributions in the late 1960's saved The Beach Boys, when Brian stopped touring. .

  • Impeccable melodies and harmonies. The BB's influenced every rock and roll artist that followed them. You can clearly hear their influence upon Pink Floyd, among others.

  • @chuckschilling well that would be in fact in personal union mr brian wilson as the composer of most of their songs....

  • wilson is a 19 year old genius who orchestrated this entire surf music scene

  • hmm this could have worked.

  • Does anybody have the McCoys video version of Hang On Sloopy John B?

  • Hang on Sloopy and Sloop John B. are 2 different song. Or are you trying to be funny and charming?

  • Great Video editing... I LOVE the part of the video were Al does his salute.. very cool!!

  • I feel so break up? HUH?

  • Comment removed

  • Just imagine what it would have been like if they beach boys did if you wanna be happy for the rest of your life never make a pretty woman your wife [ the ugly woman song ] .

  • that is actually the original line.

    brian just changed it.

  • That's the original word from both the Carl Sandberg poem and the Kingston Trio's version of the song. The word "Broke" was intoduced in the BB's version. While GRAMMATICALLY correct, it's lyrically inaccurate.

  • thems the original lyrics. brian changed them a bit

  • true...

  • "Break up" were the words to the original 1927 version of this song. Brian changed it to "Broke up" at some point.

  • Let me go home, why don't ya leave me alone!

  • from 2:30 - 2:32 what is Carl Saying? He's So Lovely! <3

  • Hes saying "This is the worst trip Ive ever been on"

  • i got that part...its what he is saying in the video..not the actuall song..just wanna know what he was mouthing? :-) <3

  • I feel so *break* up?

  • Brian wasn't there.

  • Say what you will about Mike Love, he was definitely better at conjugating than Carl.

  • This Video Is AMAZING! Carl Is Wonderful!!! My Fav Beach Boy! a VERY lovely Video and well CARL IS THE MAN!

    <3

  • I like this version, but it's interesting why Carl keeps saying "break up" instead of broke up. The "original" is my all-time favorite song, though. I'd never heard this one before.

  • I think, that this is the greatest song in the world

  • Where does the footage come from with the striped shirts?

  • Those shirts look familiar. Aren't they wearing them on one of their albums? Oh wait... there's another video where they are wearing striped shirts on the Andy Williams show. Maybe that's it.

  • the 'SHIRTS' were kinda there TRADEMARK when they did photo shoots and performances till about maybe about 67 or so? then they ditched them..and just wore what they wanted! :-) BB5 Forever! <3

  • Murry made them wear them because he wanted them to project a clean cut image like the letterman or the kingston trio that wore them he said in an interview he didnt want them to shake their hips in skin tight pants and low cut jackets like elvis then he said dont say elvis say other artists .

  • @JustaSideOrderOfLove Don't forget the couple of years in white suits with neckties! They didn't start wearing their own clothes til about 69-70.

  • That style of shirt is called a Pendleton. The original name of the group was the Pendletones, after the shirt. Their manager or record producer changed the name to the Beach Boys, before releasing their first album, without the band's knowledge. The rest is history.

  • I believe he was also their father.

  • @footloosebowler There's a dvd floating about, it has footage of them live in London but the audio either wasn't recorded or is lost so it has different audio overdubbed. The dvd goes under different names though, one of them is Swinging 60's The Beach Boys and another is Beach Boys In London 1966. The footage is terrific but the audio is available elsewhere.

  • the prick below needs to get out the house more!!get fuckin 'attention' from people else where!!!

  • Absolutely sickening, even on a BB video, you still get filthy sectarian animals, posting their poison. You lot are not human!

  • this is carl and dennis....

  • Its a cover of an old west coast folk song!

  • West Indies, I think.

  • hello

  • why dont you go home.

ya fuckin papish tattie howkin soap avoiding southern iorish fuckers.

  • Like it even more did you see Al Jardine playing the flute. He must be a DOB according to the fenian bassas

  • Why dont you go home? Big boydies scored 3, why dont you home?

  • just go away, you must be jealous of them, you are very rude

  • I wont to go home more than anything, so bad. But see I've dug a grave by fucking around on my girl of 16 yrs.God, I know what it's like to be homesick.I haven't touched food in over a week and the only thing I feel I have to hold to right now, for some reason is the beach boys.

  • the famines over. why dont they go home?

  • yous killed yer own fans, ibrox disaster yous killed yer own fans

  • The stairs are repaired....Why don't the Huns go Home?

  • Get this! I was in Israel last summer visiting with the wife's rabbi cousin and family. Following a Sabbath meal, we all sing a three or forth century Hebrew prayer to this very same tune! He suggests coincidence but maybe even G-d knows a great tune when he hears it. Any Orthodox Jews aware of the prayer I'm refering to? It was trippy.

  • Most excellent. Never quite understood it or where the inspiration for it came but what the hell, it's just a damn good song!

  • so fucking nice song man :D

  • where did u get this from???????????

  • Forza Ragazziiiiiiii AIUTIAMOLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII FORZA TORO

  • I think I was in Jr. High School when this single came out. It has such a nice ring to it. "Sloop John B" was an instant hit.

All this time I though they were talking about a boat in Nassau Bay in the Carrabean.

It might have been based on a acid trip, but a sloop is a boat, correct?

  • they were the days.loved to have seen it...

  • What does the sign say at the very end? It has a heart on it.

  • It looked like I <3 the beach boys ....

  • Is there audio of the concert? It'd be cool to see one from that era.

  • one of my favorites!!! excellent tune!!!!

  • sounds more like dennis on the first verse then carl

  • @chakahfatah pretty sure it's Carl on the 1st verse [on the regular version, Brian] 2nd verse Mike, and 3rd verse is Brian

  • who cares dumbass

  • Hahaha! yes what a dumbass

  • Actually, it *is* in reference to an acid trip. The original line was "This is the worst trip since I've been born".

  • great cats

  • Carl Wilson has the greatest voice in rock n roll history, hands down

  • Right on.

  • @shlavaman I would agree with that. I would also throw in Stephen Stills and Paul Rogers in that mix!

  • 1:09 It's Jon Voight in "Deliverence"!

  • haha i like the last thing on this video when the girls attack them hehe:p

  • Pet Sounds box set is absolutely worth the price if you'd like a clearer idea of how it was produced. It has vocals only and instruments only versions of every song plus lots of early takes with BW instructions and discussions between BW & musicians.

  • Personally, I prefer the released version with Brian instead of Carl on verse 1. Also, Mike has stronger 2nd verse effort on the the released version. Is the Pet Sounds Box worth it if you have the Mono/stereo P.S. disk ?

  • Dang Carl has a great voice!

  • My favorite Beach Boys song. I love it

  • 5 STARS FOR SURE!!!!!

  • theyre singing the original folk lyrics

  • Yes, HabibTh is right

  • where did you get this version i love it!

  • it's on the Pet Sounds Sessions box set...

  • beautiful song, thanks for the post

  • pretty cool.

They actually said Break up and Broke up in the album version.
