It certainly doesn't take a lot of skill to spot the level of this fight, for instance anyone who's familiar with boxing gloves will see this is likely 12-14 oz, meaning it's an amateur fight, and not the A class amateur type either.
Really interesting how different their fighting habits are. You can see the MMA fighter stopping himself from throwing kicks a couple of times early on. Also, the bob & weave the boxer keeps doing in the 3rd minute would get you KO'd in a fight where knees and kicks were allowed.

I prefer MMA to boxing these days (mostly) but if you want to talk about which is more fangerous just look at the stats. How many people have dide in the ring? How many fighters retire wiht serious head trauma caused by the sport? I would rather get knocked out by an MMA figther than a boxer far less chance of damage.

IMO BJJ isn't nearly as fail proof - for example the guard which BJJ is based on is almost inaplicable in a real fight situation because the chances of you being able to lay down on something flat and the opponent not landing a kick in your groin are pretty minimal. thats the problem, everytime an MMA fighter goes against a boxer it's only a club level type fighter.. The MMA fighters are "champion fighters" but the boxers are average.. Believe it when I say that a good WBC fighter would crush an MMA in standup. World Champion? The guy is like 6-4-1 or something like that. He's lost nearly 40% of his fights. That is not a champion by any means. Why this guy is so revered is beyond me. He's aggressive yes but not in the least bit amazing or phenomenal when it comes to mma.

Boxing is useless in a realistic fight. Hey! wanna fight me? Please no kicking, elbowing, tackling me, slamming me, twisting my arm or anything else okay??! Were going to put on softer gloves okay??? Only punching! (Yes , boxing gloves has a lot more cushion then a MMA glove that is why boxers don't get knocked out that easy. It's not because they have a better chin)

@H1mynameisLarry Actually, in a street fight, boxing is very useful. Although their sport isn't as rough as MMA, boxers are still very good fighters. I guarantee you that a boxer could take some random Joe in a streetfight. The other guy would be knocked out before they could get to him.

@TreeFiddehSeven A boxer has never tasted a kick in the face. A boxer has never been slammed on his back or side that knocks his breath completely out. A boxer has never tasted an elbow. A boxer has never felt what it feels like to be choked out. U really think punching only will succeed in a street fight? Only an idiot will just punch in a st fight. Most street fights end up on the floor and u know it. What i'm saying is MMA fighter has a higher chance to succeed in a st vs avg Joe vs boxing.

@H1mynameisLarry Yes, I agree. An MMA fighter would do better in a street fight than a boxer. But, what I'm saying is that a professional boxer could take any average Joe in a street fighting. And MMA fighters are better in well rounded fighting, but boxing is a different thing and they are skillful at what they do. Randy Couture proved that an MMA man could take a boxer.

@TreeFiddehSeven I think that's one of the biggest mistakes people make. IMO on a flat pavement Fedor will kick Tyson's ass, but in a forest or something, or a crowded bus stop, Tyson will kick Fedor's ass. People are forgetting that boxing evolved from free fights in Greece and Rome which didn't have mats and cages/rings, they wre fought anywhere. Boxing is the best discipline for no rules because you can never lose your balance like for example a karateka could. Ray Mercer beat Tim Sylvia btw

@H1mynameisLarry Dude look at my post to TreeFiddehSeven. Boxing was proven to be the most effective free fight discipline ON AVERAGE over the course of 6000 years. Take a look at successful armies like the Romans, Greeks, German Empire, US Army, etc. All of these armies teach boxing. Sure GSP would own any boxer his size in a cage which is flat, has rules and a ref, but do you think he could pull off a kimura on a staircase covered in sharp objects and dead bodies? I don't think so.

Army don't try boxing so much anymore.. its more MMA style grappling. I know that for a fact. You are putting crazy situations. @H1mynameisLarry Bro once upon a time in ancient Greece there was a thing called pancration. Free fighting, no rules except no eye gouging and no biting and low blows. And people through millions and millions of fights (not just a PPV event) derived that boxing is the best form of fighting in a situation without rules. That's why they isolated it and developed it under rules. In a legit fight where there's no mat or fence every kick you throw you risk losing your balance and every takedown you

That doesn't make it battle proven. Boxing is battle proven as I stated it's been the main discipline in the most successful armies in history.

Boxing hasn't even helped in war because I doubt anyone would just stand there and punch with you. They are training BJJ because as time passes, people are getting more sophisticated and using everything their body can achieve. Back then, we didn't know as much so all we did was shoot guns and box. As humans develop, we have to adapt..

@H1mynameisLarry Mate people haven't changed much over the last 40 years trust me. Fighting is one of the most complex yet one of the most natural things. Before I knew anything about grappling I had been doing guillotines, read nakeds and armbars for years and wasn't surprised when I found out that stuff had been studied and given names. Anyway, I don't think BJJ or any other martial art for that matter is as developed and as effective as boxing simply because boxing has been done for thousands

@DestroyerAlexandros True but before I have watched or knew boxing had a name, I knew to punch. All I would like to say is boxing on it's own is useless. You need to know it all to suvive in the real world if you are ever faced in a fighting situation. Most TOP UFC fighters are boxers but know it all. Rampage, GSP, Silva etc etc you cannot just know ONE aspect of fighting and think you are the shit (Boxing). Again, boxing is good but useless on it's own.

@H1mynameisLarry That's true but boxing is a combination of punching plus the footwork, body and head movement, even state of relaxation. For example GSP - he's got the technique down, he's got the physique down yet he can't knock out a terrible striker after mauling him for 25 mins. It's not because he lacks the strength, it's because he's too stiff to achieve enough acceleration with his hands. He's got the punching down but he hasn't got the boxing down see what I mean? @H1mynameisLarry a lot to do with your nature. This might sound stupid but some people are just born with punching power and some aren't. As much as GSP drills boxing technique with Freddie he'll never punch like, say, a shorter and lighter Maidana. Boxing is much more complicated than just making a person's face hit your hand and I've grown to appreciate that I hope you will too.

@H1mynameisLarry of years there's been a whole "troubleshooting" process. IMO BJJ isn't nearly as fail proof - for example the guard which BJJ is based on is almost inaplicable in a real fight situation because the chances of you being able to lay down on something flat and the opponent not landing a kick in your groin are pretty minimal. Think of it this way - a guy that has never in his life trained martial arts would be doing chokes and holds to his little brother because he wouldn't want to

Of course combat involves firearms but you should never underestimate the abilities of the body in preventing lethal situations. I wouldn't like to go in details about my lifestyle but lets just say I lead a pretty hazardous one (I don't lead a life of crime I'm just constantly pushing myself) and as time passed I realized that as handy as fireams and cold weapons are, the single biggest weapon
