I'm sure there are many russian films made about the soviet contribution to the war, but the fact is that the russian film industry isn't exactly huge. Besides there are too many taboos when it comes to the soviet union's actions during the war

I really enjoyed the series.. When Winters shot the German who was just a kid it made me think about not only the physical tolls our grandfathers had to endure, but the mental as well. God bless them all, Americans as well as the Germans..

Not everything from the book got in the series which is nothing new and a crying shame. BUT DESPITE that, this is by far the best WWII series ever made. If you enjoyed it I strongly advise you to see the documentary "We stand alone, together". You'll have trouble holding your tears at the end of that one.

This is just another of the shitty second world war movies I have seen. Shitty not in the sense of storyline, acting, etc. but what they haven't shown is the real German army. Just like any other Hollywood movie showing the enemy as the weak or the fool. Not a very balanced approach.

I just came back from a week end in Normandy. During the visit of the war museum in Utah beach (Sainte Marie du Mont) I've seen in pictures the real "Spers", the real "Winters" and the real Guarnere. A great moment in a special place. France will never forget you.

The wesstern front was about 1.5 millions figthers involved and the eastern front more than 15 millions. This miniseries make it fee like everything happened with the us-british army. But most of the Nazi army was defeated by the Red Army of USSR and it's an historical fact, they are also the one that made berlin fall while the US army was stuck on the west after a german counter-offensive.
