I'm going to do a conference on thunderstorms for primary school children next month, and I'd like to show this kind of movie to illustrate some of my points. Could I use this video? What are the conditions of use, and may I get a copy of it?
I can't believe the clouds move like that. Some clouds going one way, some the other. Every thunderstorm I have had around here involves the clouds coming in from the west and dumping rain (and sometimes hale) for a few hours.
whoa, incredible! oh I freaked out at the end! I thought there really was a sky all full of crazy stars, but I guess it's really just a bunch of "hot pixels" as they're called on your camera chip? Phew. Thought I was crazy.
Hmm. Well, I found this video because one of my reccommended videos cited this as the "Because you watched". However...I do not recall ever watching this video before now. 0_o. It was cool though.
That is an amazing time lapse, we have a similar one but ours is in Hong Kong. You should come check it out along with some other really cool videos on our page, Amoura Productions. Thanks for posting!
Awesome video! What settings did you use on your time-lapse? How many frames per second is your playback rate? You took one frame every (blank) seconds?
@danleggymail its wind shear warm air under and cold air above if they are just right it may cause the updaft of the storms to rotate and may cause a tornado
That's a long time-lapse. I can't imagine how many photos that was. Plus the cloud formations were amazing. I haven't seen that many in one setting. Great job.
I see Intel has an application for netbooks and laptops that takes an automatic picture every day then allows you to create a time lapse movie. not bad
awesome :) got my intervalometer now and Ive tried timelapse once now. Mind giving me some tips about settings? I had auto shutter speed and aperture. The focus was on manual and the exposure set to manual aswell. Took a picture every 5 sec.
Should all settings be on manual? and if so, how do I determin the best aperture and shutter speed so the light wont get messed up when it gets darker?
@eltonjohnfan100 That wasn't a wall cloud, it's called the Anvil and it's the top portion of a thunderstorm, also known as the primary "thunder head".
time lapse rocks! It just shows how active & changing the world is despite how still it seems to us humans, literally the earth is changing as we speak. But I'd love to see a long term continental changing time lapse video
@theFEMAcampESCAPEE Yeah, lol. i dont know much about it but i think its something to do with ice particles hitting the ozone layer or stratosphere (well, one of them) and it acts like a roof so instead of going up they al spread out.
Wow, that is incredible!! Awesome video!

I remember when I was younger, I used to believe that thunder was god bowling, lightning was god beating his wife and rain was god taking a shower.

These guys have an infrared remote time-lapse device for every major brand of cameras: tempus.bymac.org
Ahhh.. your cameras does not support infrared?
what about a mechanical intervalometer that straps to your camera and physically presses the button for you? : tempusall.bymac.org
Looks like some cool ideas.
