18 months from planting to fruit - but if you live where you have to take it indoors over the winter (cannot take freezing temperatures). You can replant the bulb next season and sometimes by the end of the 2nd year, but sometimes it takes 3 years in Arkansas.
Suckers produce little fruit or no fruit at all. Thats why they are called suckers. If it does produce fruit it is of low quality and like he said it only produces once.
no not true, every one says it sucks from the plant i have a dwarf cavendish and it has the main stem and 3 so called suckers, and all 4 produced last year i had about 200 bananas soo if u take good care of ur plants they will produce!!!!
Thanks for this. Very interesting. However, one small pointer - can you please stop using the word 'like' in every sentence. It's incredibly irritating.
I have never seen a small banana tree before - thank you for posting.
Banana is the common name for herbaceous plants of the genus Musa and for the fruit they produce. bananas are used for Flavoring and food as for medicine perfume try banana oil known to be used to test NBC Masks. Most of the plant can be used in food. The heart I've ate, the leaves are water proof and used to steam food, and roots and fiber make good textiles
thx fliprichard, we have millions of banana PLANTS in st.lucia. It is not a herb my banana plant whatever type itis i dont know has beared a bunch of bananas more then once. It took it 3 months to develop its fruits properly.
A herb is used for flavoring, food, medicine, or perfume and I know you cant use a Banana plant for any of those things so shut the hell up and I would like for your stupid ass to stop calling others stupid.
hey yesterday i bought a banana tree and i planted it as far as i know i must water it every day because the water accelerate its growth....good luck with your banana tree and let hope we harvest from its fruit

banana plants are more related to grasses. usually wen u plant one of these, it takes about 9-11 months for it to develop properly and to bear fruit.

well i dont know i think its about 1-2year but after it dies after bearing fruits. but my grandpa told me it could take only 6months to bear fruit
BurstingSeed 2 years ago
Takes 18-24 months to bear fruit then it will die.
Banana is not actually a tree but an "herb" type plant.
Sad that it dies after fullfilling its lifes purpose.
However it will leave a pod of sorts underground as well as several shoots that will be new trees.
they will be about 12-18months for more banana.
