This sequence is of the second Kinnikuman anime that covers the last two arcs of the manga, this anime was made in the 90s.

The original had limited animation, since it was done in the early 80s.

The original was cancelled cause people didn't like the filler arcs that they were making.

Why didn't Ataru's Muscle Spark finish off Super Phoenix?

Was it cause he was already beat up in battle a lot?

Well, i believe Ataru uses the perfect muscle spark , while Kinnikuman uses the 70.000.000 power muscle spark.

What i do understand is that while ataru perfected and shown Suguru the technique, he didin´t have the power to use it to the extremes like kinnikuman does , since kinnikuman is in a way "the chosen one" .

I may be wrong tho.

Not exactly right - As he is nearly killed by Zebra and Parthenon, Kinnikuman has a vision of the Muscle Spark - However, this is only half of the technique. Ataru shows him the other half, and Kinnikuman combines these techniques to make the Perfect Muscle Spark. The 70 million power Muscle Spark is just hte Perfect Muscle Spark with Kinnikuman's burning inner strength.

Oh, and at this point, Ataru was half-erased by the Muscle Prophecy page being burned up, so his Muscle Spark just wasn't very powerful.

I didn't get this far, but why are there several 'Kinnikumen'? I heard it's something about being a heir to something...

This took place during the battle for the throne arc, when 5 other Princes calling themselves Kinnikuman Big Body, Kinnikuman Mariposa, Kinnikuman Zebra, Kinnikuman Super Phoenix(the one you're seeing in this video) and Kinnikuman Soilder(the one doing the move, who is revealed to be Kinnikuman's Brother.) In order to see who the true prince is, the King and Queen decide to hold a tournament to decide who the real prince is.

Yes. He's mainly white with black stripes, a boxer, and uses one of the Three Sure-Kill Finishers of the Kinniku Clan, the Muscle Inferno, where he uses the opponent like a Surf board and slams their head into the wall (or in Muscle Grand Prix's case, the turnbuckle.) He can use the shadow made by one of his teammates to turn into a more brutal and stronger person, making him darker on the white part. He was beat when Kinnikuman reversed it into the Incomplete Muscle Spark, which is shown here.

Oh, right. That's the real Soilder, Kinnikuman's Brother pulled off the Napalm Stretch on him and took his mask, thus taking his identity for the Tournament..

Five babies were born in the same hospital, and there was a fire. In the mix up, no one was really sure who was the real "Kinnikuman." So they had a match between the kinnikumen to see who would ascend the throne.
