I'm here 'cos I just discovered that it was he, not elvin bishop who sang this...I remember him in Starship in the eighties and thought he was just a bland pretty boy. Wow he really CAN sing.

Back in 1976 when Mickey Thomas was The Singer for The Group Elvin Bishop He sang this and I have always loved His Voice since then.

the guitar player's solo gets "lost" and bland, at first he sounded as if he was going to showcase in a SRV bad ass way but went awry.

Can't give the "playing for the song" reason,

because this guitar playing is not for the song.

In blues progressions there are hit and miss solos, this was a disaster miss.

He probably made up for it next night, if not there are thousands of us who would love to get his job.

Mickey is awesome.

Love this song and never heard it live before tonight on YouTube. Recently redisovered it while doing some work in my basement studio. Was inspired to pick up my electric and play along. I love any song that inspires me to 'play'.

This is a nice live version and Mickey is still quite remarkable after so many years, but the studio of this version is so well done in all respects that to me, it is a classic that is unbeatable and can never be surpassed - different interpretations

you said that the quitar player on Fooled Around and Fell In Love needed a lot of work....I disagree. I think he did a tememndous job, very close to the original....meanwhile you probaly can't play a lick except for air quitar

It was at International Plaza. The bar was called Headliners. It was part of a very cool tropical themed restaurant called Kahunaville! They both have been gone for awhile now. Too bad, very cool set up. including in the restaurant smoking volcanos and a colored lights & fountains show every hour! By the way, International Plaza is a haven for incredibly hot women! Never seen so many in such a small area! The Blue Martini has some of the best bands I've ever seen! Check it out! AWESOME!

grace slick got slicked out the back door and a couple flights of stairs when mickey thomas took over her old position. i love mickey thomas, one of the best voices. only he and jon anderson can do these punching high notes without their heads exploding.

I always thought on American Idol they should have to sing this song. Elvin wote it and Mickey sings it like it was written for him. My point. It would elimate a lot of people real fast. It's funny I've never heard anyone attemp it.

@porcelaincougar Vocal god--I love it! He's finally getting the recognition he deserves. In the '80's, it seemed like people just overlooked how amazing his voice is. I guess time reveals all! I can't think of another singer who has retained his voice the way Mickey has.

Few years back my friend & I walked into a little club in Tampa & he was playing there! Joked around with the crowd! My friend yelled out "Do some Journey! Mickey laughed then began singing "Don't Stop Believin" he sang a couple lines, then the band broke into "Wheel in the Sky" with a country beat(Someone needs to do this! Too cool!) he sang a few lines with a country twang! Afterwards he and the band talked to the crowd for a while signing autos & stuff! Tremdous talent & a hell of a nice guy!
