I ordered this plane a couple of days ago and I want to know a couple of things: how long does the stock battery last, how long is the range for the controller to the receiver, how do you know when your battery is low, and how do you charge the battery without the adapter?
Just like control surfaces cause moments about the CG when you deflect them (force x distance to cg), you can do the same with thrust. Normally the thrust vector (direction it's pushing) is aimed through the CG of the plane; so, it has no effect on attitude. If you look early in the video you will see the nozzle moving right/left/ & up/down. That nozzle deflection points the thrust axis (vector) away from the cg causing a large control input [in pitch (up/dwn) or yaw (R/L)] about CG.
Sorry i didn't answer sooner. I'd speculate 60-70 based on other models I've radar gunned. It's not terribly fast. It's more about the weird things you can do by pointing the thrust vector around. The hobby lobby video also has it taking off of grass which is pretty cool considering it's a jet.
Can it also fly around slower and more tame until you get used to it? Or does it need to be flown fast all the time to prevent stalling? I probably won't want to go mad with it until, like you, I get about 20 or so flights.
It slows down very nicely. it will fly easily on 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. About half way through this or the part II you will see a bunch of high angle of attack slow flight. It is very controllable through the stall with a mush and the nose drops. I was very impressed by how slow it actually will fly.
Yup...stock battery. Guys out there are putting bigger motors and batteries in but I've seen no need. I get 4min flights so I guess a 3700mah might buy you another 30-45 seconds or so. If you did this you could pull the lead out of the nose.

Very cool!
can this be flown without the thrust vectoring for high speed flights??
thanks

Just watching this again after 10 months. Still amazed. And I still can't do any of it yet!

What do you think top speed on this plane is?

that jet has really good monouverability . im guessing its because of the thrust vectoring
