Lightening Calgary Alberta August 3, 2009 around 2am

i wa sin bed when it happend, the winds and the rain hail were so intense, that i thought something was coming, i could of sworn i could hear a rumble, like something big was coming, like a tornado, people say they sound like on coming freight trains, thankfuly nothing did, but i herd news later there was a tornado outsid ethe city

god i loved that storm, knocked out the power where i live west of there, and struck the nearby radio towers, it was freakin awesome!

This storm was crazy. the lighthing was so bright and the wind and rain was sooo loud. it was one of the craziest storms ive seen in calgary

i was in bc when this happened , wow calgary has never had a storm like this

I work the night shift at a hotel in Airdrie, I was there when it happened. It was nuts, the doors kept on blowing open and I was like what the? Looked outside saw it was really windys and went back to work. The doors kept on blowing open and the second time I checked suddenly rain all over. The power kept on cutting out and I had like half the hotel come down to the lobby. One guy called and was like lol internet is down...

I remember that storm so damn well... it woke me up at like 2 in the morning and hail was hitting my window, I was like OH SHIT!

i woke up before it started than all of a sudden hail came crashing on to our rooffff i was scared to hell man than my whole family woke up and sarted walking around i opened my door and my cars tire was underwater

this was seriously intense, the hauil pelted my house and i couldnt get any sleep, luckily i got to sleep in until 5:30 b4 getting up for work. there were funnel clouds and everything, this from Applewood on the very east of Calgary about 5 minutes from Chestermere

ok i live in Calgary but i was at my Nanas farm and there was funnel clouds and it was in Calgary

We got one not that long ago in Edmonton. Winds were gusting at 100km/h. CN tower was damaged wreckage falling to the ground. Trees broken everywhere. These storms are pretty intense. Hope people were ok. I think that was the one that girl was killed outside the resturant but not sure.

holy shit!!! i lived in calgary for the last 5 years and just left because of the recession back to ontario, and ive never seen anything like this, was this the day the girl died in downtown, or the mega storm my friends keep saying over facebook shook their house??

You should see the damage south of Didsbury. The hail was so bad it smashed a lot of north facing windows, huge siding damage & massive hail damage on cars.

Wind speed was 65km/h and gusting to 85, according to the wunderground site's weather history for Calgary.
