  • Has the numbers of farmers decreased because of technology and science? It takes less people to work a farm. Business models change, that is a fact of life, too many farmers have lived off of 300k+ govt subsidies for years, growing stuff that isn't even needed.

  • But it is ALSo thanks to urbanization

  • I'm a farmer and we have 45 cows and we keep them in a huge pasture big enough for a whole lot more but we like them to have space and they graze in the summer and we feed them six bales of hay a day I'm getting pretty damn pissed with all of these big corporations that torture animals if we didn't have these big companies the family farms wouldn't die off and then there wouldnt be a shortage

  • It's not about profit to most, it is about feeding the world. Open your eyes!!! there are people dying because of hunger and you complain that large operations are trying to produce food. The family farms did not go away because of the large farms, they went away because of population growth and urbanization of cities.

P.S. the big operations are not making as much money as you believe. It is just as expensive to feed a cow in a 4000 cow herd as it is in a 100 cow herd!

"P.S. the big operations are not making as much money as you believe. It is just as expensive to feed a cow in a 4000 cow herd as it is in a 100 cow herd!"

OMG, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!! First of all, with no regard for ethical treatment of livestock, that food you're feeding your tortured cows with HAS NO FUCKING VALUE ANYWAY! Also, you keep those 4000 cows in a farm/factory that was designed to only hold 100 cows. You don't see how that's SUPER DUPER CRAZY PROFITABLE???

  • @MrCountryBoy181 You are the most ignorant/evil person I've ever seen on Youtube. Do you actually think there are people dying from starvation in the western world? Are you fucking serious?!?! If you put a starving Ethiopian anywhere in the western world, with no money to spend, he would still feel like he was in a fucking candyshop!

  • @MrCountryBoy181 Food is so IIIIIIINSAAAANELY cheap here (thanks to evil corporations who realize that selling you the big burger, that you'll only finish half of, is more profitable than selling the small burger) that we can allow ourself to literally waste it, and it wouldn't matter squat, not even for a fucking hobo. And decent humanbeings (NOT YOU, in other words) will think it's a shame for those animals, who had to live their entire lives stuck in a mini-cube, just to be thrown in the bin.

  • @MrCountryBoy181 But you, you WANT these animals captured in a space as tiny as possible, just so you and everyone else can have that privilege to not give a flying shit about their food, since the supply is beyond endless. And you manage to keep that pathetic, little, barely non-existing conscience of yours satisfied by convincing yourself that there actually is a thing called "starvation" in our western world. I hope a cow kills you.

  • Go organic, sell locally...the quality of your products will allow your to sell much less at higher prices. Do not compete on volume...compete on quality....Major industrial ag producers compete on price and volume...their quality is terrible....take advantage of their weakness and turn it inot your strength...

  • Moral? Immoral? Neither...

In Business if it's legal, and will maximize profits, you had better do it! If you don't do it someone else will and YOU will be out of business...

Are corporations "heartless"? Of course they are. In business school they don't have any courses that are based on morality, unless you consider ethics courses which are basically just part of a greater marketing strategy for the corporate image.

  • Corporate hog farms have gotten themselves into something they do not know hot to get out of. When they have round table meetings do they remind them selves of how terrible their values are, if they do not, they should. We need to stand up as Americans and get some legislation through to stop these corporate giants! Independent hog farmers you have my support!

  • @NClivinful and have a big ole food shortage? Yeah that sounds great. Let's cut out the big producers and go watch people that can't afford $30 pork chops die!

  • @MrCountryBoy181 there is an overage of food in the USA. TONS of food thrown out of restaurants, grocery stores. food pantrys. ALso small farmers who raise animals frequently get visited by these large corporations and told they are over producing and kill their animals or force these small farmers to downsize and go bankrupt all for the safety of their LARGE CORPORATE HELL HOLES> I dont know about you, but I would rather eat an animal that got to see the light of day and eat what they supposed

  • Corporations have no hearts. They have only one concern. . . PROFITS! That is their reason for existing and nothing else. Maximize those profits!

  • Its the consumers. Not the farmers and not the companies. The people preferred to buy in supermarkets instead at the farm. but this time is over where I live. people tend to buy at local farmers again, the origin of goods matters now.

  • If there were any way that a "family farm" could compete with the efficiency of the huge industrial farms that currently feed the world it would be wonderful. Unfortunately, the myth of the "family farm" has been dead for about 50 years. It truly is a tragic loss of Americana, but the reality is that a "family farm" can't hope to compete with the efficiencies of scale that agri-business provides. It's a damned shame...

  • There is a very powerful message you can send to these assbag corps. Stop doing animal products, period! It is ruining the land and our health. I am a Soldier, a trained killer yet I am vegan. That means I only eat plants always. The best food ever! Educate yourself, find a naturopathic doctor who will guide you, and find peace within your mind, body, and soul. Give back every chance you get in as many ways as you can. Earth, animals, and humans; we are ALL ONE!

  • Big corporation such as monsanto are taking over the world by taking over the food rights.

They are modifying pig genes and patenting them so that they can take the place of God as inventors of the pig. And then they may choose how and when pigs breed are sold or how much they are sold for. Many corporations especially monsonto have a history of poisoning the neghborhoods they have had production in. They dont seem to care. Why are corporations not held accountable with jail time to execs!

  • Why isn't the manure being turned into fertilizer and gunpowder? Why waste the waste?
