1. Snatch 2. The Departed 3. No Country for Old Men 4. Inglourious Basterds 5. The Man who Wasn't There 6. Memento 7. The Royal Tennenbaums 8. A. I. Artificial Intelligence 9. Gangs of New York 10. The Dark Knight
i dont if it was released in 2010 or 2011, transformers dark of the moon was a great movie. i loved it. it had a lot more comedy in the first half and the real doomsday feel that the world would end. something the first just lacked.
Excellent pick with Into the Wild. But I feel that Zodiac, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lost in Translation, and Inglourious Basterds need a place on your list.
Damn... GOOD choice on Master and Commander... I am very taken with this movie,,,, I was really curious regarding the boys that were given such responsiblity and respect, so much so that I did some research on it.... I can also see where you are coming from with the relationship between the Commander and the doctor... Good call....
Master and commander is a geat movie watched it loads of times and i have it on bluray im happy with the PQ on this bluray and the sound is out of this world on my surround sound this is 1 of my topself movies and ill be watching it again very soon top video there krazy
Master And Commander is a very wise choice it is very well made and it is a shame it doesn't get the treatment it deserves but like you said early 2000's peoples brains were down the tollet at the time
Great choices .having a top 20 is so very difficult , cheers for the drumrollgodammit made my day! documentaries are ace ,especially sir David Attenborough ones .thumbs
There were 4 movies that came out this decade that I consider to be some of my all-time favourites so instead of making a big list which would just get really hard I'll just name these 4 in no particular order "Zodiac (2007), Moon (2009), Bowling For Columbine (2002), Elephant (2003)"
Hey, Jason... I had to pick up Master and Commander after you picked it as your #1 movie (film) of the 2000's. I picked it up for $7.99 at Best Buy, but it was interesting to see there's a new version coming out which likely has a new transfer. I'll post a review on my channel after I've seen the film.
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2. The Dark Knight 3. Lord of the Rings Trilogy 4. Kill Bill Vol 1+2 5. Memento 6. Lost In Translation 7. Rocky Balboa 8. Wall-E 9. Stranger Than Fiction 10. Juno 11. Synecdoche, New York 12. Ratatouille 13. 28 Days Later 14. Thank You For Smoking 15. Away We Go My Top 15 (2000-09)
These aren't my top 5 (I wanted to use some that aren't mentioned as much), but I'd put them somewhere in my top 25 of the last decade. 28 Days Later, Garden State, The Machinist, Hannibal Rising, and Trade.
1. Nobody Knows 2. Who's Camus Anyway? 3. Shotgun Stories 4. Michael Clayton 5. The Wrestler 6. Still Walking 7. The Tree of Life 8. Synecdoche, New York 9. Punch-Drunk Love / Wendy and Lucy 10. Trust
Great list Jason! I'm especially happy to see you give "Master & Commander" & "There Will Be Blood" some love! Both would absolutely be in my top 10 of the 00's. :)
I agree about the LOTR, the only time Ive seen the theatrical version was in the theatre, I bought the Extended dvd's and skipped the theatrical blu's, so as much as I love the EE, it would be nice to see the version I enjoyed in the cinema again...I dont 'get' 300 at all I thought it was style over substance, loved inception and there will be blood.other than TNG Im not a trek fan, but enjoyed the new movie, I enjoyed children of men. I dont think Ive seen M&C all the way through...
awesome part deux mon ami , i can easily agree with you on some of those titles and half your list would be on my list , great picks man , 300 , there will be blood , star trek to name a few.
My Top 10: Sideways, Spirited Away, The Wrestler, Ghost World, A History of Violence, In Bruges, Up, Zodiac, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Where the Wild Things Are.
Surprised by a few of these (Into The Wild), 300 got better with each viewing, agreed. TDK was too good, seen it in the theater 4 times first week. Inception you god damn cheating whore! I would disagree that is the best film, I prefer the Prestige. There will be Blood... DRAINAGE!!! Star Trek now that was well made pop-corn fun. Russel Crowe, the mans man, yeah your right about the common elements with Star Trek plus they both travel in a ship...
My top 20 below: 1. There Will Be Blood 2. Zodiac 3. Oldboy 4. The Royal Tenenbaums 5. Children of Men 6. Pans Labyrinth 7. Gone Baby Gone 8. Almost Famous 9. Gladiator 10. Let the Right One in 11. The Dark Knight 12. 500 Days of Summer 13. The Wrestler 14. Into the Wild 15. Babel 16. Sin City 17. Donnie Darko 18. Mystic River 19. Inglourious Basterds 20. Borat
@TheKrazyJason I feel like I had to sneak a comedy in there, and although I enjoyed a few from the 2000's I think Borat was my favorite. Glad to see TWBB get some love, and glad you talked about the amazing use of the camera in Children of Men, has some of the most impressive continous camera shots you'll see in any movie.
Thank you for sharing your top 20 movies of the last decade. Your number 1 pick was a great surprise. I never watch that movie and will definitely put on my list now. My other surprise is that The Book of Eli was not on your list, since you love post apocalyptic movies. Great choices all together.
I appreciate that your top 20 was subjective and so it mainly focused on your fave genres of action, adventure, sci-fi, horror, serious docs and the like. However, this kind of listing defacto closes the door on the opposite realms to them, which are the joy-infused worlds of rom-coms, slapstick and even musicals. Lots of great stuff in all those areas came out between 2000 and 2010, but where are they among your picks? Nowhere! (Ya, ya - I know, "Then start your OWN dang list, bud...")
@EnvelTheTrader I like Gladiator. But, my opinion of it did not change much from seeing it in the theater 10+ years ago to watching it recently on Bluray. It just lacks a certain heft that I think a great film should have (and in the case of this film, should have had in spades). Then again, it's all subjective. Others feel strongly about it. I respect that.
Great list! I agree with Master and Commander being one of the most under appreciated films out there. I always wanted a few sequels as well, and remain shocked to this day there haven't been any.
Great list Krazy! Number 1 was definitely not expected. I have almost bought Master and Commander before, but passed it up, but now I realize I need to get it! Anyway, awesome top 20, loved both lists!
Surprised no mention of No Country for Old Men, friendo. Besides that my list would include: Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, King of Kong, Royal Tenenbaums, and Z Channel. Your list overlaps mine mostly, though. Solid list.
On Master of commander. I have the Blu Ray-book edition. .is awesome comes with books & arts stuffs ..But sad thing about it..is the same disk blu-ray is in ur hand in that new edition. Is same disk just added book & art around it. I got REAL disappointed, is not real worth to upgrade , is a same shit!!
Ironically, I'm currently enrolled in a New Hollywood course which is entirely centered on the films of the late 60's and early 70's. I agree that movies like TWBB of the past few years have injected some much needed life into the world of cinema.
Honestly, I don't really like Michael Moore, but I still have to admit that he has pretty much shaped the way that most documentaries were made in the last decade. Bowling For Columbine was a huge success which I enjoyed when I first saw it, but now I consider to be just a little too hokey (as with most of his stuff), but I can't deny the power it had over the production of most other documentaries for the rest of the decade. For its ability to inspire alone, I'd have to put it on a top list.
You my friend, know how to construct a list. My personal Top 10: 10. Ghost World 9.Identity 8.Mullholland Drive 7. Mystic River 6.Donnie Darko 5.The Wrestler 4.Inception 3. Spirited Away 2. No Country For Old Men 1. Up (I'm not afraid to admit that it made me cry like a litle girl)
Children Of Men is such an incredible film, one of the few films that actually take you into the movie and make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, superbly shot film. Although There Will Be Blood is great, The Assassination of Jesse James is far superior in all aspects and yet in that year No Country For Old Men - amazing but the worst of the three - got the most attention with regards to awards.
It must have been very hard to make the last 10 but you made it.Totally agree with you on There will be blood - D.D.Lewis incredible .You blew me with Master & Commander .One of my favorite films and Russel Crow's best role in his career .Not my Nr.1 but it's your Top 20 .
I thought the last decade was overrated, there was a dryspell in there. But there were some great movies in there, none the less! and yes you were majorly cheating with Inception! (it's the new decade now, so it shouldn't count lol)
Yeah Indian runner was Sean Penn first and its awesome!! One of my favourite movies...gotta love Viggo Mortenson that does a terrific job in that one.
