I DESPERATELY need to extricate myself from the horrific nature of this Orwellian reality, the U.S.S.A. I need to recondition my mind so contrived the innate needs of Self are met internal to Self. i have a question. ive been meditating a few days now. how do you know if youre doing it right? when you feel "peace and happiness with yourself when the meditation strats to benefit you? or when does it start to benefit you? how do you know if youre doing it right? sorry for all the questions. please respond back soon!
@gabrielle5fairbanks9 The benefit of meditation is that it allows us to experience life & all of its senses with acute awareness, in the present, with contentment. The benefits of meditation are simply that- the ability to feel life. The benefits start immediately - these benefits are a journey..as we travel down the path of meditation we gradually notice the flowers along the way- this is the benefit of meditation- a gradual awakening to our inner self. The benefits are gradual & cumulative.
Other people argue that you shouldn't visualize or control your breathing while meditating. Saying thoughts and breath should happen naturally. I don't know which to actually do since I'm a beginner.
@tylerisalreadydead yes this is a reasonable argument- the quandary lies in creating the meditation for the person at that time and space- breathing is a skill- visualisation is a skill- the possibility exists that in the focus upon the development of a 'skill' we comporomise the potential for creating an peaceful inner awareness. i say the meditation you do is the meditation you do which is fat better than no meditation at all. Be kind to yourself. take small steps- enjoy the journey.
@snake1921 Thank you so much for your comment- I really appreciate it- to meditate means to be in the moment to be able to present to that moment in time in every way physically emotionally and spirtually- we are there when we feel total detachment from a need to look back or forward- from a need to attach to any one or thing- when we feel content just to float in the moment- in peace- there is a knowing- a calm knowing when we reach that point- Thank you

hmm...... my knowledge has grown since the last time i posted that question. im not wise, but here's my answer. christians cannot meditate on anything else, especially buddhist meditation. we can only meditate on God's word, whilst reading the bible. if u've any enquiries, just pm me. i'd be more than willing to impart the stuff in which i've invested most of my time on God's word to another fellow christian. oh yea and i'm only 14 years lol
