You want a new 500cc two stroke? Buy a Rotax jet ski or snowmobile engine and shoehorn it (and retune it) in to an Aprilia RS125 chassis, the chassis should be tough and rigid enough to handle it, and they come stock with beefier forks than the 1000cc jap bikes. you'll want to sort out twin front discs somehow though. Spondon frame would be good but XE.
Orignal RG500 are very difficult to drive. I don´t thing the brakes are the main problem at all. Finding tires for original dimensions is very hard and touring tyres do not handle the power.
This bike is euipped with astralite alloy wheels, 120/70-R17 and 160/55-R17 and a dunlop D208. The front supsension is changed to harder springs, and the rear is higher. There´s a GHN gearing working in it and the intake is changed to carbon fiber.
The bike is very reliable and matches a 1999 CBR 600.
okay, now i have question, did you ever drive 99'600rr ?? and did you try 05-08 600rr??? well it is not only diference in brakes but all round stability is an issue, shoks too... not to mention try to stop in short from high speed...look i love the sound and smell of screaming two stroke ,but it is just nostalgie drive and that is it...
look i dont want to insult anibody, but true is=this bikes are/retarded brake power, chassis not well balanced/and is simple like driving in danger all the time,i have had rd350 and is sold today and for me is=boys dream but today are much safer bikes on the road...and not to mention the fuel cosumption and services an this and that...sorry not for me no more...regards to all drivers
I think you may have insulted all 2 stroke lovers, and think you are missing the whole point of these bikes. I also had an LC350 & they handled very well actually.
no i dont think so,and it is true what i say and this knows many 2-stroke lovers...im allso one but it is techniek who is gone to past..i love to here this engines but new techniek on the bikes is far advanced..regards to all 2strokers...
Ahhhhh mine is out of service in the garage. Might have to get it going sooner rather than later. My first ever ride (unlic) on a big bike was an RG, I was hooked and bought one years later.
thank you for true opinion, and is not only brakes, the stability is an isue too. today bikes are better and that is the fact.. this on is nice but it is past...regards
its the truth that RGs brakes are shite to what they have on the GSXRs and the R1s nowadays but the past is better for me, my dad as a RG500 Gamma 84 and i have a 94 RGV250 VJ22.
These bikes IN MY OPINION have more soul then anything built today. not to mention there a proper bike, proper bikes are 2 strokes.
jes they have the soul and history too,and are powerful machines for cc's BUT it is all round comfort and feel of stable drive who is gone to past and if you love it then stick to it but it does NOT matched new machine on the road today, not even close...regards....
Comfort & stability! -buy a VFR800 if you want safe, An R1 or ZX10 is not comfortable but the reason people buy them is for the thrill factor and because they can't get a reliable modern 2 stroke anymore, I have had many bikes including LC's, blades, ZX6s, V Twins, etc, yes of course modern bikes handle & stop better but they are BORING & SOULESS. Nothing, compairs to the feel, sound & smell of a balls out ride on a powerfull 2 stroke even if theres a chance you'll end up in a hedge.
Why?? Do you need a different bike for every different road? It's "a little ride out on a sunday afternoon". Not the gp of Australia. And this way you can overtake obstacles (cars) better..
nicely disabled the speedo cable huh!

There are astralite wheels on the bike, took me some time to get the speedo drive done. No it works again.
This vid was only a test for the onboard videos that will be released on my website.
