The drummer for that song was John Ruts(e)y (can't recall the spelling of his last name), who was the band's original drummer for the eponymous debut album and anything they did before that. Peart came in after that album and took over album cover design and lyricist duties in addition to being the greatest drummer ever.

I know a lot of people who were introduced to them from that movie, and also the fact that Snakes and Arrows was hugely epic and one of their best albums that generated their most successful tour ever also probably contributed to it. And the fact that a lot of young people are more interested in music of the 60's-90's because of the lack of good rock n' rock in today's music. Oh and Rush is awesome, and Metallica is good too
