  • I like your melodic approach to improvising. Its nice to hear some raw playing. Most of the Gypsy Jazz i hear is just flying throught the fretboard 90 mph without any message. Thanks for this.

  • Very cool

  • fantastic!

  • good work ...the tab please..jjeje

  • Nice touch and tone...

  • @DaNorthernLight -- Well said my friend. Gypsy Jazz is a great music genre. There comes a time when we just have to say "no" to the insanity of political correctness.

  • Ce qui est bien chez lui c'est qu'il est très modeste. (et aussi très bon musicien)

  • @mendelhababou - Translating from the French:

What's good about this guy is that he is very modest (and also a very good musician).

  • "Gypsy jazz style"? Lets just call it Django Reinheart style. I believe he earned it. Good job BTW! :) Oh, and "Gypsy" is an ethnic slur referring to their ancient Egyptian heritage. The proper term is "Romani".

  • @TheChoada - Oh horseshit. The term "gypsy jazz" is already well established in music circles and they aren't going to change it just so you can pose and posture as a champion of political correctness.

  • @GaryBass100 Yea, thats great, but it dosent change the fact that "gypsy" is a racist slur. Its like calling Louis Armstongs trumpet style "nigger style". Hitler called jazz "nigger-jew music". You remind me of him a little. You are used to using the word so you dont feel like changing it. Very convienient for you. Whatever though, I dont really care. I was just trying to inform.

  • @TheChoada -- Again, horseshit. Who appointed you to be the arbiter of what is or isn't "racist" and a slur? Should Gypsy Rose Lee be called Romani Rose Lee? Should the Gypsy moth be renamed? Google "gypsy" and you find the term used to describe many bands, songs and even warships. It is obvious that the term is not used as a "racial slur." You remind me of a thoroughly brain-washed college student from Karl Marx U.

  • @GaryBass100 Moron, you might want to google the terms "gypsy" and "ethnic slur". Anything you say or think has no bearing on the fact of wheather the term is an ethnic slur. I am not arbitrating right vs wrong. No opinions, just facts. Here Ill do some research for your ignorant ass, this is direct from Wikipedia, "... as a term 'gypsy' is considered a derogatory term by many members of the Roma community because of the negative and stereotypical associations..." You have been owned sir.

  • @TheChoada *whether* that is. Oops.

  • @TheChoada -- No, it is I who own your politically correct and moronic ass. Read the long list of the use of the term gypsy at Wikipedia. It isn't "right vs wrong," it's the same PC mind control of manufactured victims so asses like you can feel morally superior and significant. Wikipedia lists 21 songs with the title "gypsy," two US towns, 5 bands or performance groups, 4 ships or vehicles, and 5 famous people. You lose...again.

  • @TheChoada -- Oh, one more thing my "owned" friend...Wikipedia also has a massive article devoted to "Gypsy Jazz" and seem to have no reticence about use of the term, as they use it continually throughout the article. Sure are a lot of "bigots" out there, hey Choada?

  • @GaryBass100 Wow, You are dumb. I never argued that the term is widely used, as I know it is. I simply stated that it is a derogatory ethnic slur whether you intend it to be or not. The term "nigger" was widely used in America for a long time, and many users had no derogatory intent, like Mark Twain for example. It was just common nomenclature. The romani people are offended by it. It was originally intended as a derogatory term. This is pointless. You just dont get it.

  • @TheChoada -- I get it just fine: you are a leftist looking for victims to defend on your big white horse so you can be a PC hero and feel good about yourself.

The fact that the term "gypsy" is widely used is evidence that it is NOT INTENDED to be an ethnic slur, and if someone wants to be offended by it, THAT'S JUST TOO DAMN BAD. It is time we stopped kowtowing to this PC insanity and listening to morons like you. Yes, Mark Twain is now censored in some quarters because of idiots like you.

  • @TheChoada -- And by the way, there is a Romani band named "the Gypsies." Your comparison of the term to the word "nigger" is totally inappropriate and unfounded. Grow up.

  • @TheChoada -- You are wrong -- the term was not "originally intended" to be derogatory.

According to Webster: Definition of GYPSY

1 : a member of a traditionally itinerant people who originated in northern India and now live chiefly in south and southwest Asia, Europe, and North America

    2: romany 2

3not capitalized : one that resembles a Gypsy; especially : wanderer

    Origin of GYPSY

by shortening & alteration from Egyptian

    First Known Use: 1537

    YOU LOSE. Give it up.

  • @GaryBass100 The Romani people are offended by the term. It is still used as a derogatory term in many European countries. You are an ignorant fool. End of story.

  • @TheChoada -- Although someone with especially tender and fragile sensibilities might impute unintended "derogatory" implications, I have proven here that the term has been around since 1537, is in wide use today and is not considered derogatory by the great majority. I have kicked your ass in debate for all the world to see. Now THAT is the end of the story.

  • @GaryBass100 You are sending me private comments now? Wow, you are as pathetic as you are ignorant and stupid. Congratulations. BTW you never proved that it is " not considered a derogatory". You simply stated that the term is widely used, as everyone already knows. If you have done any research on the issue at all you have seen the same info. that I have and know full well that "gypsy" is an ethnic slur. Arguing with someone as stupid as you is painful and pointless. Bye bye dum dum.

  • @TheChoada - I haven't sent you any private messages, so I don't know what you are talking about. I have already thoroughly defeated you in debate; it is clear that the term "gypsy" would not be so widely used if there was any consensus that the term was intended to be derogatory. It is not described as such by Webster's Dictionary, nor is any reference made to its alleged "slur" characteristics at Wikipedia's lengthy discussion of "Gypsy Jazz."

You can't argue with me because I'm right.

  • @GaryBass100 though reading through some of this argument was a deliciously disgusting waste of my time, words can be offensive or not depending on the connotation taken from context. aside from any constructed argument, there is nothing aggressive or demeaning in the way in which gypsy is used here, if anything it is honorable and respectful. the history of the term does not bring up any reason to call this beautiful approach to jazz anything but gypsy... internet referee decision= gary win

  • @lralbrecht - Thanks Ira. I agree with your comment 100%.

  • @GaryBass100 "List of ethnic slursFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" "Gypsy, Gyppo, gippo, gypo, gyppie, gyppy, gipp

    a. A Roma person . b. (UK and Australia) Egyptians.[90]". Dumbass

  • @TheChoada -- You have already lost the debate. See Iralbrecht's comment. Whether any word is a "slur" or not depends on the context in which the term is used, and in the overwhelming number of examples that I have cited, no slur was intended. Therefore, this widely used term (which merely refers to nomadic peoples) is only a slur in the narrowest circumstances, and therefore is no reason to stop using it. Cities named "Gypsy," famous people named Gypsy and many songs can remain unchanged.

  • @TheChoada -- Here's a line from Ira Gershwin's song "Embraceable You": Embrace me, My sweet embraceable you. Embrace me, You irreplaceable you. Just one look at you -- my heart grew tipsy in me; You and you alone bring out the gipsy in me. I love all The many charms about you; Above all I want my arms about you. Don't be a naughty baby, Come to papa -- come to papa -- do! My sweet embraceable you. So Ira Gershwin was a bigot, hey Choada? You idiot.
  • very well done, bravo!

  • Very nice! I heard a jazz band from San Francisco called "Hot Club San Francisco," and they are a gypsy jazz group. It seems the term "Hot Club" generally refers to the gypsy jazz style. Gypsy jazz tends to employ acoustic guitar and violin, in addition to more traditional jazz instruments like trumpet and string bass. You do yourself proud, thanks for this.

  • @GaryBass100 yeah man I think "Hot Club San Francisco" sounds like a play on "Hot Club Du France" the quintet that Django and Stephane Grappelli played in before they were separated, I believe by being in different countries when the war broke out. They are the most recognised pioneers/ creators of Gypsy/ Romani jazz out there hence a lot of this style feature both violin and guitar playing lead lines.

  • @GaryBass100 Both such an incredible talent that a lot of their improvised melody's, especially Django's, have become jazz standards. Nice video by the way man.... great tone, would be nice to add some upright bass in there too :)

  • esecuzione superba, riuscirò mai ???? ad imitarti. Complimenti, bravo

  • this is really2 great!!!!!

  • bravo bravo

  • this and your smb2 videos turned me on to gypsy jazz. bravo

  • how did you edit the video?

  • super like!

  • wonderful!

  • did you actually record the rhythm track 3 times or did you just put that video of yourself doing it up there 3 times to fill the space?

  • WOW you are VERY good. Keep playing, keep doing this.

  • What editing software can you do this with?

    the four boxes i mean

  • pixar music

  • hahaa cool!!

  • Good stuff. Good taste in music.

  • Good coordination of multiple tracks. Our band is recording its 1st CD, and I have learned how difficult it is to record (perfectly) a single track and then fit it to tracks by other musicians and vocalists. I play acoustic bass and we usully record bass & drums on 1 track. We can spend 3-4 hrs and multiple "takes" before we feel real good about it. Then other instruments and vocals do their tracks. Finally, the engineer puts it all together. Soooo, you done good & I'm subscribing.

  • For a good selection of gypsy jazz guitar see playbacklapompe.

  • I would love to hear you play "Dream a Little Dream of me"
