I love it!! Souad rocks, she has a beautiful voice :D, just wondering if the chorus are the gipsy kings? 5* thanks for uploading.
You are right, but strictly speaking, Maghrebi or Daria is a variety of Arabic spoken in North Africa from Libya to Morocco, and right or wrong, I believe the world at large would probably simply refer to it as Arabic. But no matter what we choose to call it, the song is beautiful. Y por supuesto que XarquS tiene razon.
Amazigh is a language/dialect spoken by the Tuareg across Algeria to western Libya. The North African 'dialects' all have their roots in classical or standard Arabic, and what they write is standard Arabic. But the daraja forms are next to impossible for other Arab speakers to understand (I don't understand any of them) because they have their own vocabulary and grammar. Educated North Africans can understand the standard forms, which they use in international conferences etc.
@MacEoin very good reflection. Where are you from? I am amazigh from Algeria, and I always say that our dardja is not understood by arabs from the middle east.. The reason why arabs don't understand darija is because it is a mix of berber, arabic, french a little spanish and turkish..
Otherwise known as a dialect of ARABIC brainiac. Get over it; it's Arabic whether it meets your approval or not. I'm not from North Africa yet I can still follow it.
north african dialect is a mixture of amazigh native lge+turkish + arabic and even french ,it contains arabic words but mostly amazigh but in this song its mostly arabic
Great song!

This is spoken Algiers arabic ( not a literary Arabic, you can say a mixture many languages).
But Algeria is majority Amazigh not arabic at all .
even if most Algeriens speaks arabic, they are
berberes.
Arabes and their language come from middle
east starting from 7 th century when they invaded Nord Africa in bloody war.
Arabes are not liked in Algeria neither language and their culture.
Algeriens are mostly influence by the Europeens
cultures specially France

It is true the song is a shity arabic music from Algeria, Souad Massi is an Amazigh not an Arabe.
Her ethnic backround is Kabyle.
Kabyle peoples form the professional group
of Algeria, also they are the ones who trully where involve in the war compare to the arabes
they are lazy and violent, honestly they stink.
