My uncle was a miscellaneous movie fanatic, among many other things. At his funeral there was a box of gifts he had set ready to give out for Christmas, no names were written on them so we were told to simply pick one out. I dug deep in the box and pulled out the entire VHS collection set of Flash Gordon. I sat and watched every single episode of this genius fuckin' shit for the whole night. It was something truly special.
A lot of the first serial sampled its musical cues from "Bride of Frankenstein" and the "Invisible Ray". Go to amazon and plunk in Bride of Frankenstein by Franz Waxman, buy the $10 CD and get both!, or just sample it-you'll hear all the Buck and Flash themes in full orchestration surrond sound by the reknown Westminster Philharmonic.
Love the music, and the fact that those skimpy costumes got past stern 30's censor who never thought to look at serials? this CD deserves your patronage!

Thank you, Wah-etc.
Even though I have this on DVD, I still love to watch "electro-torture"
(I also enjoy watching Princess Aura scurry along in her imperial halter-top)
