This shows a real lack of judgment on her part. The US doesn't like quitters, and we want some assurance that our politicians are there to serve the public. If she didn't want to be a "lame duck" she could have served and done a good job. Also lame ducks often accomplish great things BECAUSE they don't need to seek re-election or worry about polls.
