@dadlabs also in my case you cant drink and drive, especially with me being a cop, so I can say I dont want to drink with work, of course being 26 weeks pregnant in two days its dumb to deny now, but in the early days, saved my butt, of course, my family knows i have meds to take for a back issue sometimes, so that helps too
We found saying my wife was the designated driver helped curve alot of balls. I would drink & she was the responsible one, when ppl would say "c'mon, have 1!" she would say, oh no, dont get me started! & they would laugh it off
the best way... live out of state from relatives that are scarily good at knowing.
Heck, my mother-in-law told my husband (who didn't tell me) MONTHS before we conceived my daughter that she thought I was pregnant... and when he told her I wasn't, she said, well then she will be soon.
She has been able to look at me and tell me not only the gender of the babe in my belly, but the BIRTHWEIGHT almost to the exact ounce.
I swear, if she lived here, she would have known before we did.

my husband told his bro, sis, mum & dad who in turn told the universe.
I miscarried 1 week later.
Their reaction; to tell me i should try again straight away, and to tell their kids the test was wrong.
then my cat ran away and they were all really sad.

Waiting to tell is key, but both partners have to agree.
Sorry about the miscarriage. And the cat.
