  • I would like to die listening to this... just fade away into it gradually...

  • Mark Hollis may have pissed the record company guys off but thank goodness. Those last two albums, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are still pretty heart stopping in places, sound like nothing else before or since and Mark has never really followed up. Not counting his last solo album, its been way too long since we've had this kind of musician making new music. I always hope we haven't heard the last of him...

  • This song is wonderful and Talk Talk were Genius

  • I want to listen to this while driving a convertible Ferrari to a perfect swimming hole on a moonlit night in farm country. Loud.

  • talk-talk c'est l'essence de la vie!!!vive les petitsbuvards et pyramide et autres vive L.S...

  • I feel priviliged to know about this music. It is some of the best I have ever heard. The first time I heard Mark Hollis was on a New Age radio show--of all places--called Hearts of Space. I love that show, but I digress. I was online in the dead of night and Talk Talk was featured on the show. I was looking for it on Amazon shortly after.

  • @AmandaNende nicely put. it flowed over my very soul.

  • A teaspoon of The Doors, a tad Roxy Music and a whole lot of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk = Superb. 10/10!

  • My boyfriend introducred me to this band back in the early '90's. Listening to it while making love was incredible...like being on a drug in another world...like heaven.

  • why why is end !

  • Way before its time...

  • Just fantastic music.

  • who wants this to be mainstream! that's why it's so fucking good!!

  • I love what happens starting at 2:24.... the song takes a different turn and the lighting changes. His facial expression also changes and seems almost like he's smiling inside. That has always struck me about this video and I can't listen to the song without thinking about it.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were inducted into the rock and roll music hall of fame with the fab four the beatles.

  • this band got exponentially more awesome as time went on

  • Mark, I love you.

  • was ein geiler song....

  • Oh my god, it' s one of the famoust song from talk talk....

    I get kip skin

  • nuff said

  • This guy is a genius. Talk Talk one of the timeless ones. Great! Merci:-)

  • Eine der bemerkenswertesten Bands der 80er mit einem genialen Songwriter und Sänger. Still love them!

  • Mark hollis wrote this song about his brother who died from a drug addiction. this song allways brings a tear to my eye.x

  • @29misschelsea His brother Ed is alive & well !!!! It was about the drugs he had seen in the music business over the years.

  • @xtstevie Oh my god really im so sorry.

  • @29misschelsea Please don't be sorry dear friend !!!! Just enjoy the music by one of the most underrated band ever.

  • Just listening to this is like someone reaching in and gently squeezing your heart...no other way I can describe it!

  • this guy hit nirvana

  • super!!!!

  • If your into the technical side of things, read "Are We Still Rolling?", by Phill Brown, who was the engineer for this record. There is a chapter about recording this album. Interesting read.

  • Incredible song! Unbelievable album!

  • One of the greatest bands ever!!! Ive been listening to them since 1982 and still can't get enough!!!!

  • chill out and listen to the music - wonderful

  • i don't believe in 25 people

  • @noelreverberation i believe in mental retardation.

  • @StikManJones fuck you, you are stupid if you don't like this . all the talk talk album are great and this song and this is on of my favourite . I bet you're one of those who listen to Lady Gaga or who makes the big plays because the Guns 'n' Roses. back to earth fools. this is music

  • @StikManJones you are stupid !!! i love all talk talk album and this is one of my favourite .if you don't like are a stupid . i bet you listen lady gaga or metal rock like guns'n' roses . the world is full of this mental delayed

  • @noelreverberation okay inbred, calm the fuck down and take a step back. i know you got a lobotomy so ill try my best to explain this in a simple manner. you said you dont "believe" in 25 people, and i said i believe in mental retardation.... can you put the two together? it means that 25 people who dont like the song have mental retardation. so back the fuck up and read things using your brain not your asshole.

  • @StikManJones

enough with the language. you have to admit that you've explained why you should not hurt to do your sentence as a response to my and everyone would have thought that the insult was not directed to the famous 25 quieter;) I'm glad there are people who appreciate Spirit Of Eden

    .

  • @noelreverberation enough whit this bad language

  • 25 people probably got fucked by an animal.. .death. stupid fuckers. lol 25 morons, pressing the online button cant even get it up for mamma right? yeah/ sucker fucker.

  • 25 people probably got fucked by an animal.. .death. stupid fuckers. lol 25 morons, pressing the online button cant even get it up for mamma right? yeah/ sucker fucker.

  • fuck off ocado!!

  • damm i need to get stoned and get away in this music fast .

  • there is no band quite like Talk Talk---their music is unique ----timeless ---I think this song and album is TT at their most creative although they have not made a bad album

  • MASTERPIECE!!!!

  • I like all kinds of music, but there is nothing better than this. Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are incomparable masterpieces. In a similar vein, only Blue Nile and Bark Psychosis can compare in their minimal beauty and power. People that don't "get this" are deserving of sympathy, for their soul soars a bit lower...

  • Oh my fucking God!

    A lesson in beauty!!!

  • No time classic! Simply brilliant!!

  • este disco me lo llevo a la isla desierta

  • cheers mate

  • Sacred.

  • @whitemachine Yes. Sacred.

  • @dovie@blue i just read an article and it said mark struggled with his own heroin addiction?? i cant remember which site it was but i did google and it came some info....

  • @456japan considering this song sounds *exactly* like heroin to me, and one can "not do drugs" yet get addicted anyhow, I wouldn't be surprised though I only heard he didn't write the song from personal experience.

  • @kaini Well said! :D x

  • Spirit

  • Genial!!!

  • I presume the genius who wrote this is well out of the hideously commercial industry this has become. Indeed, the hell of which he describes in the lyric is all about the "music business" in its own way. Beauty. Art. All the comments are still coming. And well done to you. But our nation bombs children. Isn't it about time we stood up and did more than "protest"?

  • I love it

  • Yeah, this is high art. I don't even mind the edit for length. A beautiful piece of work.

  • It's hard to believe that the commercial cuts like "Talk Talk" or "It's My Life" are even from the same band. Spirit of Eden goes so far beyond them. Mark really reached the end of his marketability with the record company...this stuff just wasn't pop enough for radio cuts. Brilliant, but un-sellable to a "dum-dum" crowd. I had no idea that what I loved in Talk Talk in the 80's had the potential to become this.

  • destroys me, utterly. come back to us, mark! make more music! i fucking miss you.

  • The pain in his face hurts my heart....

  • The most underrated band of all time, the only band I would love to see reform, wonderful music, the only band you cant actually place in ant genre !! not rock, not pop, not new wave, not electro pop, only way to describe this band is amazing!!

  • Found my love in life....come find me x

  • Genius

  • come back mark - please - dont leave us with these losers

  • Proud to say I was a fan before Spirit of Eden and bought the album the day it came out, From the first minutes of the album, I knew it was something unlike anything a pop band had done before - a complete journey into introspection and a rejection of all convention that resulted in one of the most transcendental listening experiences I have ever had.....repeatedly. Talk Talk are the real deal.

  • sconvolgente

  • No words to explain the power, pain and emotion portrayed in Mark's voice. There has been no one like him. Quite unique.

  • Over 650,000 hits make me think there is hope after all...

  • I agree, really excellent song, makes you wonder about things happening in your life..

  • ...........................speechless

  • Genius.....nuff said.

  • And oh yeah... at 1.20 the bass entering, unbelievable, chills every time

  • Talk Talk > Radiohead > ?

  • @Pettenderk No doubt (pun intended !) about it...

  • @Pettenderk without a doubt...Sigur Ros of course

  • I read an interview where he stated he disliked the video. His thought was that he could get across the feeling of the music by focusing on his face whilst he sang but ultimately felt it didnt work.

  • @dovestones I think it worked beautifully - his expression at the end is amazing. Transcendent. Angelic. Yet tortured.

  • His talent surpasses my understanding. What a genuinely beautiful song this is.

  • Seemed a bit short. Was it a so-called "Radio Edit"?

  • @The1hope4all yes, I think the regular version is about 6 minutes or so.

  • Transcendent,

    this thrills me

    and

    brings

    me

    to

    tears.

  • Einfach nur gut

  • I suppose he's trying to convince us not to take drugs...but the music is awesome, very well constructed, a true piece of art!

  • Sensazionale, eccellente, fantastica!

  • FUKKING AWESOME SONG

  • ... All these moments will fade away for sure, but music is eternal. Thank you for this upload.

  • eternal song, the anthem for the New Era

    Thanks!

  • Just a little, but perfect shard of humanity. You have had and always will have my awe.

  • @surathanikao love that comment!

  • =(

  • Bands like this is what lead to the alternative music scene. Mad respect

  • @MegaPerperper Um, I love Talk Talk but that statement of yours is kinda wrong; there was a fair bit of alternative music prior to Talk Talk ;-)

  • I can't wait for my funeral when I can get everyone to sit down and listen to this absolutel classic. Shame I won't be there!

  • @spectrum99122

    It's on my list too!!!

  • Yes! I do!

  • one of the most awe inspiring pieces of art i've ever heard so inspiring 5 stars

  • Ah! The end is like a choir of angels looking down on him, singing with him, protecting his rare and magnificent spirit!

  • @ladyfuschia just know that as much and we can and should love, care and empathize for others in our lives....our lives are OUR OWN and should be for a very good reason! How can we be of any help and support to others if we are not cared for...and well cared for at that!! Treat yourself like gold ladyfuschia!! Only then can you treat others as such!
