Always recall a summers day in 1993 & I'd walked about 5miles to my Grandmother's house rom where I'd been staying in Suffolk,after seeing them at Wembley the previous night.I had this whole album on my Walkman & stopped in to visit my Grandad's grave.I couldn't find him as it was unmarked,but thankfully years later,it was traced & he has a stone in place.Thing that struck me was the glorious weather & this song always reminds me of returning to Suffolk after an abscence of 9 years.....

Just, the lyrics about "and when I touch you, you don't feel a thing" resonate a lot with television (and, in an even more modern sense, internet communication). For example, in this very post, I am talking to you (so close), but you are most likely in another part of the globe (faraway). That feeling of disconnect

As I see it he´s speaking from the perspective of an angel and that´s what the movie is about - since he´s an angel he can´t touch the living, he can be with them, so close yet in another realm of existance. The two interpretations could be united since technology alienates us to the point we become like ghosts.
