question for you sir who kept him alive till last night jesus it was his time to go

sorry for your loss i feel your anger and stress i totally understand the healthcare issue medical marijuana could have saved his live man if it was only legal god put it here to cure us bro it was the tree of life

  • @jeremyharwood08 hell is not real, get over it

  • @isheepJesusShepherd first off... WHAT?

  • obama :D

  • sorry about you loss but your friend made a lot of bad health decisions and he was not abandoned county health is pretty good but you have to be broke to get it. the safety net is there put in place a long time ago it just needs the holes fixed

look friend, people die every day some sooner some latter my best friend lost two of his little children to sensless accidents . honor your friend, move on with your life.....

oh dont cuss, it makes you look stupid. PP

  • really, you have no understanding of the debate that is going on. the simple fact is that best thing we can do to make thing better is to have a single payer system and just remove the profit from it, so that the people who are sick and the people who want to help can with out money in the way. but really that will never happen do to thinking like yours.

  • It is always anoying to me when people form ideas without facts and push it as true [ BTW , The complete arrogance of a video blog called "The Truth About Stuff"

as if you knew "THE TRUTH"

What is your educational background to make such a Grandious claim

Typical -- when you deflate a liberal with facts they call you ignorant. after 25 years of intensive study I understand.

You get your "truth from MSNBC and and come across on video like a drugie

YOU SIR ARE A COMPLETE NIT WIT

  • I am sorry for the loss of your friend.

I understand your feeling as I too have no healthcare and no living wage in order to get it. But the public option means big government and do you think government would do all that good a job? What about wellness care and personal responsibility? I weigh 300 pounds and should exercise and eat better. But do I want big brother telling me how I should behave? There is a need for reform but big brother government is not the answer.

  • the public plan is just a choice, no more no less. If you dont want it then thats fine. but the simple fact is unless we have it the cost of health care will go so far up that no one that is not bring home more then $100k a year can pay for it. ask the people who are over 65 what they think of there big government health care, 95% of them like it, why cant we just buy into that. We need help and asking the gop or the health insurance companies for help is a joke, we need the public plan

  • The debate has several fronts and some honest and open questions. You and I both have some health issues that may require to take better care of ourselves. But the public option will be the only option if it drives away the free market. There are legitimate fears here. What if the government wants to tell us how we should eat or exercise? This is an issue of control and government meddling in our capacity for free choice. I need health/wellness care but not at the cost of big brother controls.

  • with health care we dont have a free market, if we did then there would be no need for a public plan, but we dont. they have antitrust exception and can game the system and we cant do anything about it. The simple fact is that if you look at medicare right now you will see that most of all your fears are unfounded and just more of the rights campaign of fear. We need the public plan to make the free market work, its Econ 101, the more you have to choice from the lower the cost.

  • if you dont like the public plan dont use it. its that simple. if you look at the number coming out of the CBO the only way to bring down cost is to have a good size public plan. what would even be better is to open up medicare to anyone who wants to buy into it, it still would leave a market place where the fact cats can still make there money. The public plan will not tell you now to live or anything like that, just help you have health care and you and your doc can work everything else out.

  • If insurance companies where not restricted within state boundaries there would be more competition. Try to have a libertarian mindset here and think how some of what you call 'fear' is deductively logical. The government grabs one sixth of the GDP and uses the IRS as its enforcement agency. It is logic 101 how the public option will skew the free market into a government bureaucracy. Sure outsourcing to the public sector will hide some of this but understanding of gov. behavior validates this

  • your wrong but I want to take this into a video debate. I will post my video later today

  • Very well.

My computer died so I don't have my webcam on this cpu. I guess I need to remedy this.

  • why would any employer want to provide you with health care when the public option relieves him of the cost,And how will private insurance compete with a gov't leviathon makes the rules and has no incentive to be profitable.Having is not always as pleasant as wanting. Beware the intrusive and evil hand of gov't involvement

  • yea, you have not been keeping up on how this will right, I can see. employers must as part of this, if they are a large company, give health care to there people and cant buy into the public plan. if your a small company and want to give health care to your people you will get tax brakes but still cant buy into the public plan. if your a small company that, like the one I work for does not make the money to fit that things then I can buy into the public plan. please read up on the bill.

  • I don't exactly know what kind of cancer your friend has, but it takes a lot more then just money to prevent it.

Exercise, healthy nutrition are one of the factors ofc,

but one shouldn't forget that more then half the cancers can be prevented through regular analyses (which aren't really expensive at all!!)

I am really sorry for your loss, but I don't think that money ALONE can fight this kind of disease...

  • money no, but real health care would have helped him a lot more. the simple fact is that people die every day do to the fact they dont have real health care. he would have had a real shot to get this cancer before it got bad if he had any type of health care at all. Its funny to me that people fight getting health care on this stupid idea that if the gov takes it over we will all die. we are dieing anyways, we need to do something

  • Your friend snoked himself to death.

mayo clinic or count health would not have made a difference Im sorry for you but you are transposing your grief to the health care issue. You will have to leave your emotions on the back burner so as to think clearly.

Your friend inadvertently poisoned himself. Where I am a x-friend was sowing off by pretending to drink some strychnine ooops, killed himself.

Stupid yes, sad yes, government program ...NO

    move on, GOODBYE !

  • I'm VERY glad that I'm British and pay national insurance.

People who live unhealthy lives should be at the back of the queue for treatment though including myself as I drink too much.

Smokers and obese people should expect the same.

Why should we expect the heath service and other taxpayers to help us when we can't even take care of our own health?

  • I hate to say I'm glad that my country has the NHS. I like America a lot except the health system. If you got run over in the states they'll leave you there until you give them some money. This is certainly because I didn't grow up there, but I cannot get my head around that to be honest

  • they would not leave you, they would take you to the ER but then you would be billed for it and then you would be put into massive financial trouble. its bull shit

  • I didn't mean it literally, but it's the general idea. I'm sorry about your friend

  • Sorry for your loss mate, be strong.

  • Sorry for your loss.

  • Sorry for your loss

  • Early detection of cancer can save your life. People without health care don't have a choice they simply wait until they are so ill that they have to go to ER. By then it is to late.

I find it sad and telling that 2,995 people die on 911 and we start two wars that could cost $2.4 trillion dollars. 44,798 people die a year here in the U.S. from not having health insurance and nothing. The is a crazy world when it's OK to bomb then build a foreign country but not take care of our own.

  • thank you

  • I am sorry for your loss, but I have to say 2 things:

    1) He didn't take care of himself. Having health insurance wouldn't have suddenly made him start taking care of his body and not smoke. If this was LUNG cancer, this was entirely his fault.

    2) Even if there was a universal health care program, it's not like there was a cure for cancer he couldn't afford.

We need health care reform, but from what you presented here it seems like your friend was ultimately responsible for his own condition.

  • read what RealLifeProduct said

  • I did, and I'm in favor of health care, but my point is that if your friend was not taking care of himself the responsibility was on his shoulders, not the lack of a health care system.

Now, if he was a trucker and the fumes from his truck gave him cancer? Not his fault and he's an innocent victim. Asbestos poisoning? Pure genetics? Not his fault.

  • I just think that this is an extremely complex and complicated issue, and acting like anyone who doesn't want to take on the massive tax burden of this are somehow morally bankrupt is ... wrong-headed., and that while I do believe the poorest among us deserve help and no one should die because they can't afford to go see a doctor, that people are ultimately responsible for their own bodies.

I'm fat. If I get diabetes or have a heart attack, that should be on me, not the government.

  • Not everyone inflicts diseases upon themselves. Some people can't help it. Is that fair?

  • No, which is why if you actually READ my comments you'd notice I said I support health care reform and have no issue with my tax dollars helping innocent victims of disease.

  • I am so, so sorry for your loss.

  • I am so sorry for your loss.

I hurts me that people can't get basic heath care to take care of themselves for the long term

  • Our leaders and most people (it seems) have no problem blowing tens of BILLION every month in Iraq to kill.

But they don't want to spend one red cent on caring for others.

It's sad that health care, a human issue, has become politicized.

  • Sorry for your loss.

It's a good thing to have free health care, but its focus should be prevention and early diagnosis of diseases.

Your friend should have paid more attention to his health.

I lost a relative who was at the same age, he never took his health seriously and one day it was too late to help him.

  • You can only get an early diagnosis if you have the money or the health care to visit the doctor frequently. Check-ups cost money too.

  • Shit man....I don't know what I can say...no words necesary I suppose.

  • I apoligize for your friends sad departure from this world.

However, do not blame his death on the unitied states for not having free health care.

It would be one thing is we once had it and it got taken away recently.

Hell, even if free health care was here and ran by our government emloyees with subpar standards, it might of even been worse and more painful.

Anyway, I know how hard it is to lose a friend, there is no point in getting angry, just take care of what you can.

  • That a ridiculous thing to say. This is why we don't have health care now. People like you don't understand how others die cause they have no health care. People die. If this is not a reason to get angry what is?

  • It goes without saying, why get angry about things you have no control over. Anger is pointless. We will never have free health care in the United States, the more people realize that the more we can move on. Just being realistic.

Maybe more people need to move to our friends of the north that need things like free health care, if it is that important, move to Canada, it is a lovely country, plus the system is established. It just wont work in the US

  • First off this is my country I vote to change the country as I wish it to be.

Exactly what do you base your opinion on when you say "It just wont work in the US"?

Not sure why you would make such a bold claim. Polls show a majority of Americans support a public option and around 60% of doctors.

Maybe the minority should just move. Not sure where they are going to find a modern industrial country that are not government insured my guess is that's why they are the minority.

  • I know you're grieving...

    I know you're upset...

But what you're advocating is irresponsibility on the part of individuals that must be compensated for by the forced "charity" of others.

What's truly pathetic is your friend's poor decisions and your shifting of the blame to society as a whole instead of on him.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

Sadly, this will be how most of us die, from inadequate health care, in a country that has the worlds best medical facilities.

  • Its a real shame, thats a life thats been allowed to simply vanish :( makes me sad.

It makes you realise how fragile human life really is :(

I hope you all the best, and hope he lived a worth while life :)
