  • song???

  • I love Argentine tango but it's not the original Tango. By saying that do you mean the first or just the style done in Agentina? The tango arrived probably first in Uruguay On ships from Spain & Cuba where there already was a form of tango & it arrive in Montevideo because it was the first city on El Rio de La Plata that the ships stopped at, later they took it to Buenos Aires, where it developed into what we see there today.

  • This was never called Argentine, or Uruguayan for that matter, Tango, it's International Ballroom Tango, very much removed from the original, be it Argentina or Uruguay. All international dance style are laid down very formally by a committee who determine how the dances are performed & it's on that basis that they are judged. True tango is full of seduction, passion & love, no ballroom dance is, it's just formality.

  • @kanakaken Yes, Argentinian Tango, which is the original Tango, is an entirely different dance and is lovely to see.

  • the day tango is removed from the ballroom repertoire will be a good day for art in general and for dancing in particular, every time I see this I strengh my idea that the british cannot develop any deep art form, rather this pathetic and arrogant shit with absolutely no soul

  • Comment removed

  • @piratillacibernetico But maybe you're not the arrogant instead? Why do you think you are the only ones who know how to dance, that your slow and mournful tango dance is the only beautiful in the world, only your dancers got legs and feet and heart and feelings? Why do you always feel right to insult those who dance in a way different from yours? In each video that is not tango, for which each dancer is not from Argentina and is not slow, old, hunched and heavy, put so many insults.

  • @piratillacibernetico I don't particularly like this example of Latin Ballroom dance either but many do, so I have no criticism of it, as shouldn't you. You have no place in saying "the British cannot develop any deep art form" as the Spanish classical dance & music is directly from the Arabs, or 'stolen' if you will. International Ballroom has strict forms that competitors have to abide with and therefore judged on their performance of that. Also that's the reason all are dressed in formal wear

  • Whats the song called?

  • huhû_passt_hièr_nèt_rëïn_àba_ìch_bín_sö_èinsäm_wïll_jémând_mit_miå_schrèïbên

  • Perfect? Oh dear. Perhaps they could start by listening to the music and dancing to it instead of going through a set of sequences which may fit the rhythm but I see no evidence of them working with the music. Sorry, but I find this sad and soul-less.

  • @TheMagickLounge

The following of rhythm works in dance styles which don't focus that much on technique and physical ability and the nature and style of ballroom competitions means if you drop the heavy technique in favour of rhythm you'll start doing worse in competitions. This is mostly caused by the lack of time judges have per couple.

  • wake up ppl 2012 is coming!!

  • i believe your thinking of the arg. tango. In international and american you actually dont like eachother.

  • sorry to interrupt your discussion about tango international or not, but does anybody know how the song is called?

  • @Feinschmacker Sounds like La Cumparsita

  • The reason why they don't look at each other is because if they do, they will be knocking knees. When you look at each other, you knee will lineup and knocking knees are painful. Try this, take your dance partner with you, look in their eyes and go forward and you will see what I mean. International style ballroom is more about using the style of dancing to express an emotion rather than showing the emotion directly on the when on the floor.

  • Perfect!

  • cuz this is not an argentine tango that's a ballroom tango these 2 r very diffrent.

  • respect to her,she moves her head really fast and accurate..

it looks very good.but i like tango ergentino more..its a bit softer..

  • muy buena la escenografia y los bailarines... pero disculpen, eso no es tango...

  • You guys have to start watching real Argentinian Tango. This ballroom Tango is more like military march and unfortunately most people believe that this is Tango.

  • Uh, maybe people believe that this is Tango..because it is?

    Just a thought.

  • Well, at least it didn't start like this where it originated in Argentina and it is definitely not Argentinian Tango. It is like calling Motzart's music for Jazz or blues ! They could have chosen another name than the Argentinian name "Tango" for this.

  • i mean 5 lol

  • cant stop watching dis video lol 4 stars

  • what style of tango is the one in mr. and mrs.smith and in true lies and lead the way

  • "Argentinian"... "American"... "International"... isn't the music one? The dance is only one too.

I mean, tango was already invented! it shouldn't be called "Tango" and they should make up their own "Internatiolanl Music" or something like that.

I'm not saying that it's an ugly dance (although I think so) but why using the name of a dance that already exists?

  • I think the dance is quite different. In Argentinian, its quite aggressive, sensual and intimate. International tango is a little bit polite. correct me if i'm wrong.

  • > In Argentinian, its quite aggressive, sensual and intimate.

Well, it's sensual and intimate, but it is NOT aggressive.

    > International tango is a little bit polite.

Bloodless, frigid, and robotic is more accurate.

  • INTERNATIONAL STYLE. NOT ARGENTINE TANGO.

I thought Argentine Tangueros knew better.

This style is competative, precision technique and staccato movement; stylistic of the Americanized -key word- Tangos. The Americanized Tangos, that includes the International style, are based on staccato movements, sharp and precise. To show style not intimacy.

This is Ballroom Tango. Like Mambo is to Salsa, the Ballroom Tangos are to Argentine Tango. Two sides of the same coin but worlds apart.

  • For International style, love and romantic attraction are shown in Waltz. Tango express a bit more aggressive attitude.

Al Pacino danced a great tango in the movie. Being a great actor, he danced appropriately, which was to entertain the lady he met.

His style probably would bore spectators who wants to be wowed by a show.

  • personally i get bored by this. dancing has developed in such a way that it is not about 2 people and music anymore. that is very sad.

  • These are high level dancers! Everything they do is to look their best, in the style, and to be as competative as possible. Everything they do is with purpose. At these levels competitor cannot even speak while on the dance floor. If the styles dictated they look at one another they would.

This is very fast, and VERY hard, but it is NO walTZ. Though, there is a style of tango music that is in 3/4 waltz pattern. You should look up some viennes waltz so you can know of what you speak.

  • American Tango is kind of like "i love you but i'm to good for you" it's a romantic expression but they are supposed to act like they come from different worlds. where as Argentine tango is the dance of romance very close hold.

  • They do not look at each other in order that their bodies can work together more intimately in the midsection where it is useful, while maintaining presented lines in the extremities. Looking at each other would physically disconnect them and make the tight, sharp movements you see much more difficult to coordinate.

  • @nostradamus0000 For basically all standard dances, especially international, the leader's head is always slightly up and to the left. The emotion in the dancing is still there, but your presentation is all about you and your partner's lines. By "lines", I mean the dominant lines that you create with your frame and posture, like from arm to arm. It's just a matter of presentation is all. Love and romantic attraction is more in rumba (although it's more about fucked up relationships than love).

  • @nostradamus0000

In the standard dances of ballroom dancing (waltz, vienese waltz, quickstep, tango) you dont look at each other. The lead looks far to the left and (an up) the follow far to her left (and up).

This helps the balance and speed in the spinning action.

You also lean quite a bit back from each other, keeping the contact by pressing the pelvis and diaphragm area towards each other.

  • @nostradamus0000 Ballroom tango is far more rigid and showy. Argentine tango is more about intimacy, the connection between partners being at the chest rather than the hip.

  • Also, tango is suppose to express the argumentative nature of relationship between man and woman. You are not suppose to look at each other when you are mad! :8)

  • Originally, Tango was danced in brothels and slums. I think the not-looking-at-each-other is an historical remnant of that distance between client and um, professional. Kinda racy, if you think about it. I've also heard that the whole dance is supposed to represent the relationship between a prostitute and her pimp. Which is even more racy. Not sure if that's true, though.

  • @nostradamus0000

From this post you actually told us how you do not now anything on tango or ballroom dancing generally. Since from when the only way to express love is to LOOK at someone?!? i think THAT'S THE MAIN REASON why this tango is perfect: they have managed to show love and attraction to each other, without looking at each other's eyes....

  • @nostradamus0000 Tango is a proud dance, you have to dance it with dignity, that's why they don't look at each other.

  • @vikagusenkov HORSE SHIT. That MUST be your own idea.

  • @nostradamus0000 in this video we see a ballroom tango (international flavor); in Scent of a Woman, Al Pacino danced argentine tango which is a completely different dance

  • @geldedus La musique est argentine pourquoi danser un standard ???

Cela ne correspond pas. ont-ils changés la musique au montage vidéo ???

  • @Joshuauguy le tango standard/international se danse aussi sur des tangos (musique) argentins;

le tango international ou americain est une version délavée et fortement dénaturée du tango argentin, afin d'en faire des competitions

pour un danseur de tango argentin, la version dite internationale/americaine est ridicule et ennuyeuse à mort

  • @nostradamus0000

Al Pacino danced the Argentine tango, not this joke of a dance.

  • @Frunze42

Social dance and competitive dance work different ways.

  • Argentine ignorant and arrogant tango dancers, are the really and only big disgrace...

We can say there is nothing beautyful to stay closer, with curve back, walking heavy and slowly boleando in a little place, but it's a waste of time trying to explain something to you, you want only give noise. You are spitting poison on biggest world champion. But you are ignorant and idiot like a stone and you can't know what are you say. So we forgive you.

  • Dear G1ggetta, nobody is saying they don't dance well-they do-, but this does look like a vals, people who don't dance ballroom but do dance only tango understand it is more cheek-to-cheek, and you should be crossing one leg and then the other. I guess that people who don't dance ballroom but do dance, for instance, rumba or pasodoble also find the standard style to strange.

  • Thank you very much, I'm not interested to see any argentine tango or tango nuevo. But I don't need to go to see it and leave ugly comment about it. I don't need to denigrate or offend your favorite dances to feel me right playing standard dances. ;-)

  • its mirko gozzoli, i use to copy from his steps, he,s a good dancer!! i love this couple!

  • i think this was in the netherlands (in Assen -> Dans 2005)

  • It's not Mirko Gozzoli and Alessia Betti, is it?

  • beautiful

  • That is definetely ballroom Tango. You can't call it International. Is the Tango used for competitions!!...Look at their postures... so ballroom like.

  • Yes, the video was captured during a competition. The style of Tango shown in the video is "International"; at least that is what dancers call it in the U.S. American style Tango has more open positions. Argentine Tango covers less floor space and

    focus more on the feet.

  • ....

  • Was this in Europe?

  • anyone knows their name?

  • They are Mirko Gozzoli and Alessia Betti from Italy, current world professional ballroom dance champions.

This is definitely not a competition in US or in England since food and drink were never served in the comp. Contactm, do you have more footage of the comp, or do you know where one could get/buy video for it ?

  • Sorry, I got this clips from a friend. I think I will buy their video. They are awesome!!!
