I'm referring specifically to some of the people in this forum. I'm not an authority on holocaust survivors, but I have not heard them telling their children the world or even the Germans owe them. Ironically, in many cases the Germans actually confiscated homes, business and all other valuables. Abuse of Black people in America was awful. I'm sure most of you would disagree, but the oppression of Blacks is still evident today.The effects of such oppression are very apparent in urban areas and ghettos. In contrast, Obama has a history statements implying that "typical white people" are racists oppressors. To say that Wright isn't anti-white is to deny the facts.

@mentalarson It was merely my intention to point out that if Mr. Beck is going to attack President Obama on the basis of a book that his spiritual advisor read, then he is opening himself up to similar attacks.
At any rate, since Mr. Beck couldn't even get the title of Mr. Cone's book right (it's "Black Theology and Black Power"), let alone accurately quote what it said (there is nothing in that book that even remotely resembles Mr. Beck's quotation), I am bowing out of this debate. Enjoy!

That white people "owe" blacks in America and all the things that are heaped on that. It manifests itself as taking from those of us who work and giving to those that do not. My grandparents came from the Ukraine and never owned slaves. What little I have, I've worked very hard for so I resent people feeling like I owe it to them.

disclaimer; I haven't read every post. But, in general, there are always ignorant people on both sides of every issue (Hannity, Sharpton, O'Reilly, Wright).
I was using the holocaust to illustrate the broader concept being discussed; hatebegets hate. Who knows what this Jeremiah character has seen or endured, or what his father endured, etc.
I think as we move forward, more people will have more diverse friends and will formulate more balanced viewpoints, not those of their fathers.

I'm referring specifically to some of the people in this forum. I'm not an authority on holocaust survivors, but I have not heard them telling their children the world or even the Germans owe them. Ironically, in many cases the Germans actually confiscated homes, business and all other valuables. Abuse of Black people in America was awful. My concern is for how that hate and sense of entitlement is crippling Americans in the black community.

Further more an even smaller percentage of Americans in 1864 inherited anything of value due to the labors of slaves. If you knew anything about inheritance, you would know that most of the value of the inheritance has long ago been "pissed" away.

Consider the Vietnamese refugees who came to this country & settled in Louisiana. They didn't know the language, had no money, were not white. They had nothing. Who dominates the ship industry today? Blacks who lived there their whole lives or refugees? Please ask yourself WHY that is. You could argue they had the same opportunity and the blacks even had an advantage knowing the language. However, the refugees knew life is what you make it and no one "owes" you anything unless you earn it.

Your environment has been created by liberal politicians that wants to keep you dependent on the government and voting liberal. Conservatives want to offer school choice so you can get out of failed schools but liberals want to protect educational unions. We want to provide investment incentives so businesses can come to your communities and employ people. Liberals want to give you cash, but it robs people of a basic right, the pursuit of happiness. Stop voting for liberals. Time for a hand up!

Stop complaining about the past and think about the fundamentals of what it takes to climb out of poverty. Many of us have done it or are part of families who have. Many people start life with a strike or two. Some succeed in spite of it. What makes the difference? Lots of books about it. I went bankrupt & lived in a trailer & a garage for 11 years while learning a new skill so I can crawl back up out of poverty. I think you may have a general view of "whities". As a conservative, I want all American's to have the freedom and opportunity to succeed. Example, if you could take the cost of educating a child in the public school system and spend it at any school in your area, you may pick a different school. If that money was available, more good schools would start and compete for your dollars. Your kids would get a great education and more opportunity. Instead the liberals protect the public system. Why?

I just wish people wouldn't attempt to speak intelligently with only tidbits of knowledge. Beck needs to learn what liberation theology teaches in full before taking one paragraph totally out of context to condemn an entire theological position.

Obama's not dangerous at all. Neither is pastor Jeremiah Wright. he just told the truth about a situation that is a open sore like racism is. 9/11 was a tragedy caused by our relationships with other countries. That's why Obama wants to repair those relationships so another tragedy doesn't happen.

As for the white man that tell the truth, how about the medal of honor winners, how about the millions of them working hard everyday and staying out of trouble? how about the 72 percent of healthcare workers in africa that are white? how about the fact that blacks out number whites in jails 7:1 despite being the minority.

my mom has been with red cross and in and out of the peace core for 20 years. she told me that about 70 percent, (later she told me 72 percent) of the healthcare workers were caucasian. Also, look up black to white imprisonment, its actually about 7.9. Finally, as for not getting fair trials, why even get a trial in the first place... why not just avoid trouble altogether? look, im not saying your people haven't had it tough, but its those excuses like "unfair trial" that keep you from success.

if its so easy to go to jail, then why aren't more white people in jail??? as for our "four fathers" make sure you know what it means. "four" like you said, has nothing to do with it. its forefathers. Next, jews and irish people have been suppressed for years, the jews even got exterminated, but you dont find them in jail wasting the tax payers money.
as for laws and the system, what else are we supposed to do with a man who rapes and kills? no law forces you to rape people.
