Dude.... ASEAN is different to EU. ASEAN is about Business and Free Trade.

EU is Moving together as one and pursue the interest of all European Countries.

They also use ONE currency. EU is almost one nation.

China and its territorial disputes with Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia makes it impossible for EA to be formed.

Before you critize you should check your statements.

@tedc06 you are wrong, EU started as a economic pact between France and Germany. to demostrate this, EU did not have the means to save Greece because Germany didn't want to pay, it is hardly pursuing one interest. it is merely pursuing mutual interest, and the Asian Union will be the same. these are not replacement for national government, make no mistake.

as for territorial disputes, ASEAN too as dispute among itself, but it continue to exist and that is the point. a system to fix problem.

I said "almost" one nation. And Euro Crisis u can't expect Germany alone to pay off all those debts, but EU is trying to save all its members.

That aside you are saying ASEAN = EU = EA.

Mutual interest, China is dominating in Asia there won't be mutual interest,just China's interest. Japan and China is in ASEAN, Japan has alot of debt is China helping? No. Face it Asean is NOT EU.
