it`s absolutely magnificent the transformation he undergoes from the moment before he takes the guitar into his hands to the second he starts singing. that`s what music should be all about.
Someone close to Roky needs to get him into the studio with just his voice and an acoustic guitar. Such an amazing talent, shame his comeback album is so overproduced.
I just saw the autobiography on Netflix. Couldn't take my eyes off it. Roky's story is at least as compelling as that of Bob Dylan. Martin Scorcese please take note...this guy is due for artistic recognition. He gave his sanity and almost his life.
haolekillah, did you see the movie? i think you would understand if so (and if not, you should, it's great).
he went through a helluva lot just to get to the point where he was singing again. and then this is the song he sings at the end of the film...i dunno. broke my heart to see someone go through so much pain, but made me smile too. and both emotions made me cry like a baby.
..it was the drugs and possibly a mental problem. He doesn't know who he is anymore, or didn't at the time. He knows his name, but he doens't know his past. it's depressing..
kyeheck: It appears to be a play on the whole F, G, A progression. I don't know about anybody else, but I can hear background singers behind the last couple of vocal riffs...very haunting, goosebump-inducing genius.
I think you may be misunderstood Cosutton. I have watched the video dozens of times and if you look closely the therapist and his brother are both in tears because it such a moving event. Notice how she whipes her face after the song.
I've watched this part of the movie several times and I'm convinced the therapist thinks this might be the worst song she's ever heard....oh well....her loss. Plus I think she's about to run away and hide for shelter.
goodbye sweet dreams....Roky you're beautiful! i was so happy to see this at the end of the movie, i could hardly speak!! going to see him again at Maxwells in Hoboken on March 3rd...YEA!!
Yay! Talk about a happy ending! Just when you think the movie is going to be the saddest story you've ever seen, the light shines forth once again. Never underestimate the healing power of music!
Great to see this clip on youtube, I wish the film makers would have stressed the fact that this was a new song and a TOTAL breakthrough for Roky. It's amazing that he is doing so wel and I hope to see him live, now that he is touring again!

This song has many meanings on many different levels. But it makes me sad, and I want to cry. Too know how much of life is never really as it seems.

Can anyone make out the lyrics to the second verse? It sounds like "once a pawn again, love" or "once upon I had love"

I replayed it again and again, but I still can't exactly make it out. Maybe: "once upon an end love, my love does not do bright burn" ??
