Not a fan of Zappa's work - too crude, crass, and clownish for my taste. This piece however is very good, reminiscent of the style of The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Given his talent, I wish he would have recorded more along these serious musical compositions.
@whactya That's a massive sweeping statement. Until one listens to all of zappa's work (which not many do), then one cannot generalise about his 'work'. He composed an inconceivable amount of 'serious' pieces.
@minoxy92 Gilmour forever? Since Waters wrote the VAST majority of what made Gilmour famous, you should praise Waters, not Gilmour. In the last 5 PF albums, Waters had 37 solo credits w/ 21 co-credits. Gilmour had 3 (three) whole solo credits, with 24 co-credits. The only genius Gilmour ever exhibited was his genius for getting out of work, while taking full credit for what others did. Gilmour is shit. He wasn't fit to tune Zappa's guitar.
Gilmour's On An Island has some of the best guitar works I've ever heard. I love Zappa too, but that doesn't mean you need to get this buttmad over a youtube comment.
@RIObsessed Buttmad? (roll eyes here). Son, I don't get mad because some 'tard farts out an inane opinion. I just set him straight, using reality and facts. "On An Island" was a laughable mess. Lyrically, it was 4th grade prose. Musically, it was Quaaludes for the ears. Nothing new there. Like his Pink Fraud releases after Waters left, it lacked meat on the bone. Gilmour should have had Waters write lyrics for him. Perhaps, he might have turned out something remotely entertaining.
@buffaloshite As Adam rightly pointed out, inane IS a word. "Moran" is not. Spellcheck yourself, moron. "Moran". Bwaahahahahahahahahahah. Good fake Christ. This arseclown MUST be a Gilmour fan. Dave was never too good with English either.

One of our true contemporary music originals. Frank brought joy to music in an odd way. Personally, I was glad when he released “Shut up and Play Your Guitar”. In my humble opinion, this is my favorite Frank Zappa. Here he is like John Coltrane on Guitar. Frank could play.
zappa was way ahead of his time. Eddie Van halen stole ALL HIS LICKS RIGHT THERE. Phi zappa Krappa forever! what a wonderful artist and person. And this one shows he didnt even have to open his twisted mouth.
I thinks its total bullshit that frank ist recognized at all it music today. You have some faggets that say ppl like billie joe armstrong are better than fz which makes me want to punch someone in the face. Frank was inspirational to me and he should be to more people. If there were more people that recognize his talent maybe we wouldnt have such shit "artists" such as Justin Beiber or Lil Wayne. RIP Frank

i bought Roxy & Elsewhere and Zappa in New York and my approach on listening to E-Guitar completly changed. His phrasing, his scales, his Tone, his Gear

And he combined genres that werent mixed before he did

This is the best way I can put it. I am 37, married with 6 boys from 2-15. I live and die Zappa. I will happily listen to Bruno Mars, or Jason Derulo as my kids wish. Then I am blown away when my 8 year old struts out the word to perfection to Bobby Brown or Baby Snakes. They talk about the Top 40 then Peaches en Regalia. They love my new Titties N Beer T-shirt.
@timcauwenbergh Totally agree with that. THE greatest composer and musician I have ever had anything to do with. Zappa's music keeps me connected to myself.
I like the Zapster but still find it kinda weird that he broke his band's balls for not being totally perfect all the time but a lot of his licks are sloppy as all hell
I just started to listen to Frank about a day ago. i saw Zappa Plays Zappa warming up for Return To Forever 2 days ago and all i can say is, frank fits right in with my musical taste, and is fucking amazing
@dajawaja, the problem is frank writes songs about guys like ruufeeooh,. they are not like thinkers. i'm guessing this guy might be somewhat politically correct. frank obviously wasn't. thankfully!
What a multi talented musical genius ! from his first musical interpretation on TV, Playing a bicycle in 1962 on the Steve Allen Show! So ahead of his time! Miss ya Frank!
@whillop lol i know he doesnt sing in this vid but im just saying in general this was after the time frank was pushed off stage into a concrete floor, he had suffered serious fractures, head trauma and injuries to his back, leg, and neck, as well as a crushed larynx (wikipedia). his voice even dropped a third
I'd say I'm glad a Frank Zappa video has at least something close to 500k, 'cause unfortunately, Zappa is great, but never got popular in the Big Picture. ( And I'm sorry, I don't think that something that is genious have to necessarily be "not popular")
Great lineup, just the maddest music. RIP Frank we all miss you!

Guitars & the Amps and the Effects Zappa used made him unique, but also his Playing Style his phrasing some night he practiced that for 8 hours

Zappa will live forever.

Please acknowlegdge this man as one of the greatest artists ever
He still gives me the power to deal with the mediocrity of every day life
timcauwenbergh 5 months ago
@timcauwenbergh Totally agree with that. THE greatest composer and musician I have ever had anything to do with. Zappa's music keeps me connected to myself.

Is Bozzio the drummer for this? Because if so, it's nice to see proof that he CAN groove, and CAN be proficient with less than 20 drums and cymbals.
Besides the drumming, this is awesome.

yes its Bozzio,, a brilliant drummer,,

I like the Zapster but still find it kinda weird that he broke his band's balls for not being totally perfect all the time but a lot of his licks are sloppy as all hell

Well Ladies and Gents....this is the way it was back in that era of the late 60's and early 70's....and the area was filled with sweet smoke....

@DingusMalingus696969 Wow sharing the stage with RTF? Sounds like a great show!
thrashmetalkills 5 months ago
@dajawaja, the problem is frank writes songs about guys like ruufeeooh,. they are not like thinkers. i'm guessing this guy might be somewhat politically correct. frank obviously wasn't. thankfully!

far too many to todays bands underestimate the versatility of a toy police car as an instrument....

Obviously he probably thought of himself as kind of a stupid person. They all did.
rlevanony 6 months ago
I love the way frank sees stupidity itself as misinterpreted. I mean it's just questions.

@dare4distance69 If your referring to his death, it was cancer.

@dare4distance69 What accident ? He doesn't sing on this musical interlude ... wtf ?
whillop 6 months ago
@whillop he had an accident in 1971 someone pushed him off the stage and he fractured many bones, including a crushed larynx
suspect56 6 months ago
@whillop lol i know he doesnt sing in this vid but im just saying in general this was after the time frank was pushed off stage into a concrete floor, he had suffered serious fractures, head trauma and injuries to his back, leg, and neck, as well as a crushed larynx (wikipedia). his voice even dropped a third
dare4distance69 6 months ago
Thank you for sharing but hard to find Zappa fans in Hong Kong. His albums always on sale during the 80's.

I'd say I'm glad a Frank Zappa video has at least something close to 500k, 'cause unfortunately, Zappa is great, but never got popular in the Big Picture. ( And I'm sorry, I don't think that something that is genious have to necessarily be "not popular")
