  • Great lineup, just the maddest music. RIP Frank we all miss you!

  • OMG, now I understand what "phat analog" brass synth sound REALLY means.

  • What a MASTER!

  • @whactya What do you mean? He recorded tons of serious musical compositions.

  • Not a fan of Zappa's work - too crude, crass, and clownish for my taste. This piece however is very good, reminiscent of the style of The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Given his talent, I wish he would have recorded more along these serious musical compositions.

  • @whactya

There is just as much like this as there is "crude, crass and clownish".

  • @whactya That's a massive sweeping statement. Until one listens to all of zappa's work (which not many do), then one cannot generalise about his 'work'. He composed an inconceivable amount of 'serious' pieces.

  • Damn, what an inspirational man. R.I.P.

  • Amaziiiiiing

  • zoot allures......... torture never stopppppppppp

  • it's shit. DAVID GILMOUR FOREVER

  • @minoxy92 Frank Zappa and David Gilmour - BOTH geniuses

  • @minoxy92 Gilmour forever? Since Waters wrote the VAST majority of what made Gilmour famous, you should praise Waters, not Gilmour. In the last 5 PF albums, Waters had 37 solo credits w/ 21 co-credits. Gilmour had 3 (three) whole solo credits, with 24 co-credits. The only genius Gilmour ever exhibited was his genius for getting out of work, while taking full credit for what others did. Gilmour is shit. He wasn't fit to tune Zappa's guitar.

  • @MongoTheLloyd

Gilmour's On An Island has some of the best guitar works I've ever heard. I love Zappa too, but that doesn't mean you need to get this buttmad over a youtube comment.

  • @RIObsessed Buttmad? (roll eyes here). Son, I don't get mad because some 'tard farts out an inane opinion. I just set him straight, using reality and facts. "On An Island" was a laughable mess. Lyrically, it was 4th grade prose. Musically, it was Quaaludes for the ears. Nothing new there. Like his Pink Fraud releases after Waters left, it lacked meat on the bone. Gilmour should have had Waters write lyrics for him. Perhaps, he might have turned out something remotely entertaining.

  • @MongoTheLloyd I think you mean "insane opinion" spell check moran

  • @buffaloshite inane is a word dumbass

  • @Adamboms thanks

  • @buffaloshite As Adam rightly pointed out, inane IS a word. "Moran" is not. Spellcheck yourself, moron. "Moran". Bwaahahahahahahahahahah. Good fake Christ. This arseclown MUST be a Gilmour fan. Dave was never too good with English either.

  • @MongoTheLloyd revel in your moment of superiority. I figured a zappa fan would understand facetiousness.

  • one of the best guitar solos EVER played.. no come backsies

  • I was like 16 when my friend called me and said: you have to come over here and give me a couple bucks for this album. My mom heard it and she told me that I have to get it out of her house. First Mothers album.

    I'm 60 now.

  • @LoetPaureate That's awesome. I'm 31 and wasn't even an itch in my dad's trousers when this concert was happening, yet I wish I could get thrown out of someone's house for playing this--freaking incredible.

  • BELEW!

  • I BURNT ONE WITH ZAPPA out side the rear door of the Palladium after the concert and after talking to Zappa for a bit I asked him if he thought he was crazy ?

    ````
    Zappa looked at me and said i was Crazier than he ever could be and me girlfriend dam near busted a fucking gut laughing and shaken her head...
    ```

`One of the most memorable moments of me life...it was... I tells ya...

  • @HoodwinkedbyanAngel bullshit

  • @HoodwinkedbyanAngel

Zappa was very anti-drug you dumbass. Quit lying.

  • @HoodwinkedbyanAngel dude, you burnt one too many cuz you never burnt one with Frank...next you're gonna tell us you were a navy seal...get clean and get honest

  • only zappa could rip a solo like that and give high fives at the same time

  • One of our true contemporary music originals. Frank brought joy to music in an odd way. Personally, I was glad when he released “Shut up and Play Your Guitar”. In my humble opinion, this is my favorite Frank Zappa. Here he is like John Coltrane on Guitar. Frank could play.

  • This and Muffin Man are my two Favroutie Zappa songs. The Mothers of Invention were so creative. Inventive, if you will.

  • Descanse en paz maestro!!!

  • There has been only one Frank Zappa.

  • zappa was way ahead of his time. Eddie Van halen stole ALL HIS LICKS RIGHT THERE. Phi zappa Krappa forever! what a wonderful artist and person. And this one shows he didnt even have to open his twisted mouth.

  • is this concert sold on dvd anywhere?

  • @fridun007 yup :) its called "Baby Snakes"

  • Maybe the best thing about this video is Terry Bozzio standing up to play drums. I know how he feels. Incredible performance

  • I thinks its total bullshit that frank ist recognized at all it music today. You have some faggets that say ppl like billie joe armstrong are better than fz which makes me want to punch someone in the face. Frank was inspirational to me and he should be to more people. If there were more people that recognize his talent maybe we wouldnt have such shit "artists" such as Justin Beiber or Lil Wayne. RIP Frank

  • That toy police car is a badass sound and totally Zappa.

  • A true genius RIP FZ

  • elephant pants LOL

  • If Carlsberg could put this in a can......it would "frankly" be the best fucking live gig in the world....................

  • Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Yes, and ELP.

    The best.

  • @username91ification Well you got the order right, in order of descending greatness. Almost exponential in the drop off rate too! ;-) Zappa rules!

  • @username91ification You forgot Gentle Giant dude.

Even Zappa admitted they rawked. ;)

  • 19 dislikes? seriously? Zappa... 'nuff said

  • Nobody can play like frank not even dweezil ! Wish he lived long enough to see him be PreZ! I would have Voted for the first time!!!!!! Lossers run the US for years now . that is why we are loosing!!!!!!!!

  • 534k plus views of one video alone fml someone digitally remaster this video stuff I'll buy it.

  • @danowolf baby snakes dvd

  • like this comment if you think this video contains religious symbolism

  • ザッパさん~エイドリアンもいるけど貴方様の猛烈ギターには誰も適いませんでしたヨ!~ライヴ定番超越曲"ブラック・ナプキン"~天空切り裂きソロ

  • @YallDontEvenKnow finally someone who agrees with me

  • bend over and meat the mudshark

  • Wow. Woowwwww

  • Great , the drummer is just wearing underpants, lol

  • Comment removed

  • @WhiteCatEnglish --- THAT DRUMMER IS ONE OF THE GREATEST DRUMMERS OF ALL TIME

  • so you can tell where vai gets his insperation from.

  • @TalkShitGetHollie Steve vai started out his career playing with him on some albums and his concerts.

  • Fucking masterpiece

  • @DrZooker I totally without reservation agree.

  • @DrZooker No doubt...

  • absolutely remarkable

  • how come this guy was against drugs?.... this music is so trippy!!

  • @larvatrong Sun Ra was also against drugs.

It's not as uncommon of a pattern as you'd think. :-)

  • @larvatrong zappa was'nt against drugs, he was just against people taking drugs when playing as it would impair they'r ability to play and he wanted the best out of them, which is what he got.

  • did anyone notice at 3:50 how the guitar and base talked to eachother?

  • I just listened to One Size Fits All Yesterday

and to Roxy & Elsewhere Today

And i got to say that there was no guitarist before Frank Zappa and no guitarist

after Frank Zappa that played the guitar exactly like him

In my oppinion Frank Zappa did more for the Evolution of the E- Guitar then Jimi Hendrix

Yeah i know thats blasphemy, but i dont care

  • @musicisthebestF Frank Zappa, and Robert Fripp both did more than Hendrix........Neither one of them died REALLY young, so it's different.

  • @DavidKinner Yeah, Frank hadn't really made an impact on the guitar world at age 27 either, but to me, Frank was even greater then Hendrix. But i still can't imagine how Jimi would have progressed if it wasn't for his death.

  • Totally agree! And only the people who took the time and gave Frank's music a chance will be the only ones to know that, sadly. America's best kept secret!

  • @Zombywoof91

Its very very hard to get people into Franks music, chances are good if the people like 1970 ies Hard Rock and 1970 ies Jazz music

I got a Friend who studies music and i listened to 18 Zappa CD s with him within 2 years and after Roxy and Elsewhere and Zappa Live in New York he said

Man that Guy is very good

I was lucky that these 2 CD s where my first of Zappas work

  • @musicisthebestF Right on! I have 4 years under my belt, i'm starting to tackle his really weird stuff haha The man is DEEP! Sometimes it's hard to wrap your brain around his concepts and ideas! But SO worth it when you do! Keep listening friend!

  • @Zombywoof91

i am also listening to FZ since lets say Summer 2006 like i said i started with Roxy & Elsewhere, Live in New York, Bongo Fury, One Size Fits All

i still need his early CD s and the 6 Y.C.D.T.O.S.A. recording ( heard there REALLY GOOD )

It took me like 4 listens the Grand Wazoo and Waka Jawaka to like them get into them now they are some of my Fav.

Also try to get the Anyway the Wind Blows

  • @musicisthebestF YCDTOSA vol2. (hlesinki Tapes) you're gonna love it !!!

  • @thespewking

I heard the Helsinki Tapes have EVEN better versions of the Roxy & Elsewhere Set List on it

Its very hard to believe for me, but i guess its possible

The whole YCDTOSA series is Zappas Legacy to the Fans i guess

  • @musicisthebestF i truly agree

  • @MrFirthguy

Thanks it always feels good with people agree / understand my oppinion of Frank Zappa

Funny thing is that Zappa himself never saw himself as the innovative guitar genius the we see him today

    thats very interessting to me

I wish he could ve stayed a few more years on Earth, maybe he would ve written songs for Dweezil : )

  • @musicisthebestF i am 11 and i love this music it is good we still have Zappa plays zappa

  • @MrFirthguy

Wow a 11 year old Zappa Fan, i discovered him at the age of 26

How did you learn about him ?

Yeah Zappa plays Zappa is great i love Dweezil Guitar playin style and the musicians are very good

ive seen them in 2007 with Ray White, the played almost 2 hours and they played almost all my

    Favorite songs

Check out Dweezils Go with What You Know CD its very good

  • this man just took that SG and STRANGLED the notes he wanted out of it. he is a madman on the guitar and a genius and the first to disregard "shredding." Yngwie, Petrucci, Vai even Segovia or Lenny Breau. noone displays the mastery of their instrument Zappa does. i think Zappa played Hendrix better than Hendrix. i just think it's ashame such a genius wrote so many vulgar, meaningless songs alongside these breathtakers and that's what most people know him for.....but blasphemy, neh. fact.

  • @amphibian87

Guitars & the Amps and the Effects Zappa used made him unique, but also his Playing Style his phrasing some night he practiced that for 8 hours

Yngwie is the most overrated Shredder of ALL TIMES, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert & Friedman allready passed his skill in 1989

    Please dont hate Petrucci i love him on L. T. E. 1 + 2 and Scenes from a Memory

    Ignore Zappas vulgarity, its distractive

  • @musicisthebestF ignore his vulgarity????Ignore his reality. BHis word and vocal phrasing were just as rich as his musical phrasing. And My daddy had those tacky little pamphlets in his bottom drawer. Go back to church and listen to all the talent in the choir. If you dont like whaT you are hearing, simply turn the genius off. I saw him three times and was never offended, even by his reinactment of the Garden of Eden story, where he humped a poodle doll.

  • @blou4now

NOO you get it all wrong I DONT have a Problem with Frank Zappas vulgarity ( it was amphibian87 i was replying to )

The Only vulgar song that is to much for me is Dina Moe Hum

Joe s Garage for example is my one of my Fav. Zappa CD s and dont care bout Sy Borg Lyrics

I also dont care bout Catholic girls or Crew Sluts

it was just an friendly advice for the offended amphibian87 to ignore Lyrics

  • @musicisthebestF

totally agree zappa is THEE BEST GUITARIST EVER

listen to him sense i was 4 years old i think and i am 37 today and in my oppinion he is the best

  • @lorretsiano

Wow you know Frank Zappas music since you were 4 so it was 1978 ?

It was very nice of your Parents or your Big Brother to let you listen to Franks Genius at that early age

    I was 26 when i learned about F. Z.

So you are basicly proof that the Love for Zappas music can Last a Life long

how many times have u seen him Live ?

1974 to 1979 my Fav. Zappa Era

  • @musicisthebestF i'm glad that i've come across someone on my wavelength, zappa was a genius on the old geetar.

  • @corporalcleg42

I ve been listening to complex Rock music / Metal music since 1998 when i was 16

i discovered all these great guys John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Michael Romeo, the guitarists of Pain of Salvation and in Summer 2006 in learn about Zappa

i bought Roxy & Elsewhere and Zappa in New York and my approach on listening to E-Guitar completly changed. His phrasing, his scales, his Tone, his Gear

  • @musicisthebestF i hear you, hendrix was brilliant but zappa was just completely on a different planet.also he had some of the best musicians on the planet at his disposal.not only was he a great guitarist but he was a brilliant lyricist and composer. how many artists get to have some of the best orchestras in world play his music?get shiek yer bouti, joes garage, zoot allures and hot rats. utterly brilliant.

  • @corporalcleg42

That is very True Zappa had some of my Favorite musicians in his Bands

like the complete Roxy Band is geniuses, Terry Bozzio, Patrick O Hearn,

Robert Bobby Martin, Chad Wakerman, Vinnie Colaiuta, Ray White, Ike Willis

    Mike Keneally, Steve Vai

His Lyrics in the 70 ies are genius

I own every Zappa CD from 1969 to 1984

    next i need to get the Y.C.D.T.O.S.A. Vol.1 - 6

  • @musicisthebestF no thats not blasphemy, that is the truth. The creep will go down as one of the most inovative musicians there ever was.

  • @maxliedtke

Thanks for sharing my oppinion about the Man with the Mustache

I am sure what i said sounds like blasphemy to Hardcore Jimi Hendrix Fans

The Truth is IF you want to believe Zappa s biographys he was a innovator in using distortion sound, he told Hendrix about Wah Wah pedals, he tried alternate picking and tapping in 1975/1976

And he combined genres that werent mixed before he did

  • ¸Å∏∏Å

  • Zappa Motherfucker! ♥

  • I know the niece of Frank Zappa!

  • Must have been cutting edge to have a wireless system at that day and age.

  • you dont hear guitar solos like that anymore

  • Which concert is this?

  • @MasterTote It's on the official video "Baby Snakes", now available on DVD

  • @MasterTote

I believe that concert can be seen in Parts on the Baby Snakes DVD

  • great

  • We miss you Frank! The most beautiful guitar solo EVER!!!

  • His philosophy about music was unique which is very hard to understand .And he played guitar in very philosophical way.from pak

  • I am an actor and every time i play a dramatic scene or part,i play franks music in my mind especially this one !!! thank you uncle Frank :)

  • helluva rhythm section too, wow!

  • so much emotion in this song guuuuugggghhhhh!!

  • One of the most innovative musicians of all time

  • I didn't know Zappa's middle name was Christ...

  • id have sex with frank zappa im a guy and im straight

  • Wow i just noticed Zappa playing cordless-remote guitar... was he the first to play cordless ?

  • 19 people don't want to believe he is gone.

  • prefer the younger bozzio and his normal drum kit

  • where was this?

  • @muffinfucker226

    new york..1977 halloween week run..

  • @ambush77 thanks were you there?

  • i dont care too much for mankind... this is one of few exceptions...

  • that bassist looks like hes taking it up the ass the whole time nice job dude

  • Love this piece.

  • This is the best way I can put it. I am 37, married with 6 boys from 2-15. I live and die Zappa. I will happily listen to Bruno Mars, or Jason Derulo as my kids wish. Then I am blown away when my 8 year old struts out the word to perfection to Bobby Brown or Baby Snakes. They talk about the Top 40 then Peaches en Regalia. They love my new Titties N Beer T-shirt.

    Zappa will live forever.

  • amazing guitar

  • whose that women on guitar

  • Please acknowlegdge this man as one of the greatest artists ever

He still gives me the power to deal with the mediocrity of every day life

  • @timcauwenbergh Totally agree with that. THE greatest composer and musician I have ever had anything to do with. Zappa's music keeps me connected to myself.

  • Is Bozzio the drummer for this? Because if so, it's nice to see proof that he CAN groove, and CAN be proficient with less than 20 drums and cymbals.

Besides the drumming, this is awesome.

  • yes its Bozzio,, a brilliant drummer,,

  • I like the Zapster but still find it kinda weird that he broke his band's balls for not being totally perfect all the time but a lot of his licks are sloppy as all hell

  • Well Ladies and Gents....this is the way it was back in that era of the late 60's and early 70's....and the area was filled with sweet smoke....

  • how can you not love this!

  • THIS IS FUCKIN' AMAZING

  • they just don't make em like Frank anymore!

  • Any one have download link to this masterpiece! PLS :)

  • @pinke76 realplayer will download any video you may want....hope this helps

  • @pinke76 you can BUY this on the baby snakes DVD, you don't need to sleal it man...!

  • killer

  • I just started to listen to Frank about a day ago. i saw Zappa Plays Zappa warming up for Return To Forever 2 days ago and all i can say is, frank fits right in with my musical taste, and is fucking amazing

  • @DingusMalingus696969 Wow sharing the stage with RTF? Sounds like a great show!

  • @dajawaja, the problem is frank writes songs about guys like ruufeeooh,. they are not like thinkers. i'm guessing this guy might be somewhat politically correct. frank obviously wasn't. thankfully!

  • far too many to todays bands underestimate the versatility of a toy police car as an instrument....

  • could someone explain to ruufeeooh the difference between noize and music?? I have better things to do

  • i slept to this as a baby

  • frank was one of the best live shows i have ever seen. genius w/ great musicians surrounding him.

  • I...... I..... shit my pants.

  • high level of music

  • Great Composers don't die! They just De Compose!

  • @1957thack Shit that's clever, I wish I had of thought of that haha

  • @1957thack - That just made my day. I've got nachos and found my daily cheese.

  • What a multi talented musical genius ! from his first musical interpretation on TV, Playing a bicycle in 1962 on the Steve Allen Show! So ahead of his time! Miss ya Frank!

  • one of the best zappa songs

  • One of the greatest!

  • 70s were the shit

  • Obviously he probably thought of himself as kind of a stupid person. They all did.

  • I love the way frank sees stupidity itself as misinterpreted. I mean it's just questions.

  • Politics and emotions are quite alike.

  • his accident was so sad ='( im still gratefull he decided to keep singing

  • @dare4distance69 If your referring to his death, it was cancer.

  • @dare4distance69 What accident ? He doesn't sing on this musical interlude ... wtf ?

  • @whillop he had an accident in 1971 someone pushed him off the stage and he fractured many bones, including a crushed larynx

  • @whillop lol i know he doesnt sing in this vid but im just saying in general this was after the time frank was pushed off stage into a concrete floor, he had suffered serious fractures, head trauma and injuries to his back, leg, and neck, as well as a crushed larynx (wikipedia). his voice even dropped a third

  • Thank you for sharing but hard to find Zappa fans in Hong Kong. His albums always on sale during the 80's.

  • I SAW THIS SHOW...

  • MAN, he was one of the absolutely greatest

  • fucking love this track

  • FZ looked and sounded beautiful and powerful and eternal. Priceless

  • Music like this needs no lyrics.

  • I'd say I'm glad a Frank Zappa video has at least something close to 500k, 'cause unfortunately, Zappa is great, but never got popular in the Big Picture. ( And I'm sorry, I don't think that something that is genious have to necessarily be "not popular")

  • This song make me cry.. Frank zappa best musician ever
